226Ra in milk of the dairy cattle from the rural region of Pernambuco, Brazil

Summary Studies performed by the Brazilian Nuclear Corporation (NUCLEBRAS), in collaboration with the Geological Survey Company of Brazil (CPRM), identified high levels of natural uranium in the districts of Pedra and Venturosa, in the rural region of the state of Pernambuco (PE) - Brazil, where the maximum value found in rocks was 22,000 mg.     

Thermal diffusion of envelope solitons on anharmonic atomic chains

We study the motion of envelope solitons on anharmonic atomic chains in the presence of dissipation and thermal fluctuations. We consider the continuum limit of the discrete system and apply an adiabatic perturbation theory which yields a system of stochastic integro-differential equations for the collective variables of the ansatz for the perturbed envelope soliton. We derive the Fokker-Planck equation of this system and search for a statistically equivalent system of Langevin equations, which shares the same Fokker-Planck equation. We undertake an analytical analysis of the Langevin system and derive an expression for the variance of the soliton position Var[x _s ] which predicts a stronger than linear time dependence of Var[x _s ] (superdiffusion). We compare these results with simulations for the discrete system and find they agree well. Zero Dissipative, Explicit Numerov-Type Methods for Second Order IVPs with Oscillating Solutions

New explicit, zero dissipative, hybrid Numerov type methods are presented in this paper. We derive these methods using an alternative which avoids the use of costly high accuracy interpolatory nodes. We only need the Taylor expansion at some internal points then. The method is of sixth algebraic order at a cost of seven stages per step while their phase lag order is fourteen. The zero dissipation condition is satisfied, so the methods possess an non empty interval of periodicity. Numerical results over some well known problems in physics and mechanics indicate the superiority of the new method.
