An optically addressed parallel-aligned nematic-liquid-crystal spatial light modulator (PAL-SLM) has been studied as a dynamic phase-only modulation device. A computer control feature of the spatial light modulator is strongly desired for practical applications. For those demands, an electrically-addressable phase-only spatial light modulator has been developed to combine a liquid crystal display (LCD) with a PAL-SLM (LCD-coupled PAL-SLM) and its performance has been reported. However, a temporal characteristic especially two-dimensional (2D) response has not been discussed before. In this paper, 2D response analysis system has been constructed by using a high-speed complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) camera (1000 frames/sec) and the 2D-modulation characteristic of the LCD-coupled PAL-SLM has been observed. As a result, the LCD has a spatially non-uniform modulation characteristic due to a scanning addressing. It has the potential to cause problems in high speed switching for a computer generated hologram. On the other hand, the spatial non-uniformity has not been observed with the LCD-coupled PAL-SLM. 相似文献

An optical correlator has been used in fingerprint identification, and in order to test its properties in a practical application a compact joint transform correlation system was constructed. The system’s identification performance was qualitatively and statistically evaluated, based on fingerprint data gathered from 500 fellow workers. The power of parallelism and fast processing of optical processing enabled the system to verify an individual’s identity in less than 0.1 s on each try. We investigated the structure and deformation behavior of the thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) spherulite by optical microscopy, tensile testing, Hv light scattering, and small angle X‐ray scattering. The TPU spherulite structure obtained by melt crystallization was coarse consisting of bundle‐like structure containing hard segment (HS) lamellar domain in which the HS domains were stacked and the HS chain direction was perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the HS domain. By stretching, the spherulite was deformed to ellipsoidal one and the stacked HS lamellar domains were tilted in the stretching direction. The deformed spherulite and the tilted HS domain in the spherulite were recovered to the unstretched state by retraction. The recovery of the structure is ascribed to the characteristic spherulite structure consisting of rubbery soft segment matrix physically cross‐linked with the stacked HS domain. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Single crystals of β-type Ti alloy system Ti–Nb–Ta–Zr–O have been grown successfully in an Ar gas flow by a floating zone method. The growth orientations were determined approximately by using seed crystals with the desired orientations. The various growth conditions were realized by choosing the gas purity, the gas flow rate, and the growth rate as variables. Composition analysis of the grown crystals was done to check any variation from the values of the raw material along with the bulk homogeneity, followed by measurements of the lattice parameter and the hardness, which provides the following results: (1) the composition of oxygen varies with respect to the flow rate, or is increased as the purity is degraded, (2) the lattice parameter is increased with increasing composition of oxygen, (3) which is also the case with the hardness. Measurements of Young's moduli were performed to investigate the elastic properties. The results indicate that the crystals exhibit the anisotropy which was expected previously. The elastic constants were estimated from the moduli, giving the ideal stress 1.7–1.9 GPa which is on a level with the real strength. Additionally, the tensile stress–strain curve for the crystallographic direction 〈1 1 0〉 exhibited nonlinear elasticity and hysteresis. 相似文献

This paper deals with the bias correction of the cross-validation (CV) criterion to estimate the predictive Kullback-Leibler information. A bias-corrected CV criterion is proposed by replacing the ordinary maximum likelihood estimator with the maximizer of the adjusted log-likelihood function. The adjustment is just slight and simple, but the improvement of the bias is remarkable. The bias of the ordinary CV criterion is O(n-1), but that of the bias-corrected CV criterion is O(n-2). We verify that our criterion has smaller bias than the AIC, TIC, EIC and the ordinary CV criterion by numerical experiments. 相似文献

The energetic characteristics of selected reaction steps in the bacterial luciferase-catalyzed luminescence reaction were examined by computation using the MNDO-PM3 method. Specifically, a three-step model was proposed to account for the reaction between oxygen and reduced riboflavin 5'-phosphate (1,5H2-FMN) to generate first the 5-hydroFMN-4a-peroxide (5H-FMN-4aOO-) and then the 5-hydro-4a-hydroperoxyFMN (5H-FMN-4aOOH) intermediates. Lysine (Lys-H+) and aspartate (Asp-) were chosen as representative catalytic residues involved in the protonation and deprotonation processes. Results show that deprotonation at the N1 site of 1,5H2-FMN by a basic amino acid residue at the luciferase active site would efficiently accelerate the reaction rate of O2 addition to form 5H-FMN-4aOO-. The most favored site of oxygen attack is at the flavin C4a. With the aid of a catalytic acid group, the 5H-FMN-4aOO- so formed tends to undergo a spontaneous protonation reaction to yield the 5H-FMN-4aOOH. 相似文献

A new technique based on phosphor thermometry for measurements of two-dimensional gas-phase temperature, was examined as a
new laser diagnostic. Calibration of Dy:YAG phosphor was carried out on the surface of a solid. The data were applicable for
gas thermometry since the validation of the line intensity ratios method, showed good agreement with both the lifetime method
and thermocouple data in a steady gas flow. Single-shot phosphor thermometry was examined in turbulent combustion in an engine.
A reasonable temperature deviation and agreement with calculated data to within 5% precision was achieved in the ignition
process of a compression ignition engine. Influencing factors such as chemical luminescence and intrusion into the combustion
have also been discussed.

We have developed a 385–500 GHz sideband-separating (2SB) mixer, which is based on a waveguide split-block coupler at the
edge of the H-plane of the 508 μm × 254 μm (WR 2.0) waveguide, for the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA).
An RF/LO coupler, which contains an RF quadrature hybrid, two LO couplers, and an in-phase power divider, was designed with
the issue of mechanical tolerance taken into account. The RF/LO coupler was measured optically with a microscope and electrically
with a submillimeter vector network analyzer. The image rejection ratio (IRR) and the single-sideband (SSB) noise temperature
of the receiver using the RF/LO coupler have also been measured. The IRR was found to be larger than 8 dB and typically ∼
12 dB in the 385–500 GHz band. The SSB noise temperature of this receiver is 80 K at the band center, which corresponds to
4 times the quantum noise limit (hf/k) in SSB, and 250 K at the band edges.
