The quaternary ammonium reagent m-(trifluoromethyl)phenyltrimethylammonium hydroxide (TMTFTH) has gained widespread use for the derivatisation for GCMS analysis of organic materials found in artists' materials, such as oils, plant resins and waxes. This paper discusses products formed from reactions of TMTFTH with alcohols--including fatty alcohols, hydroxyacids, terpenes and glycerol--that have diagnostic value in the analysis of samples from artworks. In addition to methyl ethers, (trifluoromethyl)phenyl ethers were formed to variable degrees from the different types of alcohol. The products were identified from their EI mass spectra. An understanding of these multiple reaction products is important for the interpretation of GCMS data from complex samples, especially in the case of polyfunctional alcohols such as glycerol, which forms a number of methyl, (trifluoromethyl)phenyl and mixed ethers. The significance of the reaction products, and the relative advantages of TMTFTH as compared to alternative ammonium and sulfonium methylating reagents, are discussed.  相似文献

Adsorption behaviors of acridine orange (AO) and biphenyl (BP) to DNA liquid crystalline gel (LCG) beads in aqueous dispersing solution have been studied theoretically and experimentally. A theoretical consideration based on nonequilibrium thermodynamics predicted that the time course of the adsorption process is expressed with a scaled equation, and a scaled number of adsorbed carcinogen molecules ? is expressed with the square root of a scaled immersion time t, ? proportional, variant square root t at early stage, whereas it is expressed with a power law function 1 - ? proportional, variant (te - t)3/2 for ?0 > 1 and an exponential equation ?0 - ? proportional, variant e-t/alpha tau0 for ?0 > 1 at later stages of adsorption. Here, ?0 is the ratio of the initial number of carcinogen molecules in the dispersing solution to the number of the sites of adsorption of carcinogen molecules in the beads, te is the scaled equilibrium time of adsorption, tau0 is a time constant for adsorption, and alpha is a constant. Observed adsorption processes for AO were well expressed by the predicted ones, and the fitting parameters ?0 and tau0 increased with increasing cobalt chloride concentration CCo used for preparation of the beads, and both saturated above CCo > or = 400 mM for the adsorption of AO, whereas the adsorption processes for BP were expressed with the square root function. These results indicate that (1) the adsorption process at early stage is explained by diffusion-limited binding of the carcinogen molecules to DNA beads, and the time range of the early stage depends on the solubility (the solubility of AO in water is high whereas that of BP is low); and (2) the process at later stages depends on the balance of the numbers of adsorption sites and carcinogen molecules.  相似文献

The effects of various synthetic triamines having a general structure, H2N(CH2)xNH(CH2)yNH2, where x = 2-5 and y = 2-8 (abbreviated, x-y; with 3-4 being spermidine itself), on poly(U)-directed polypeptide synthesis of Escherichia coli and on growth of its polyamine-requiring mutants were examined in comparison with those of spermidine. Except for 2-2 and 2-3, all of the triamines stimulated more or less polypeptide synthesis at suboptimal Mg2+ concentrations, but the Mg2+ concentration required for the maximal stimulatory effect was different for each triamine. The degree of maximal stimulation caused by 3-3 (norspermidine), 4-4 (homospermidine), or 4-5 was nearly comparable with that by spermidine. The acetylspermidines were inactive, however, they inhibited the spermidine-stimulated polyphenylalanine synthesis. Many of the triamines examined reduced the ratio of leucine to phenylalanine incorporation into polypeptides during poly(U)-directed translation, and the degree of this effect did not necessarily correspond with that of the stimulatory effect. Moreover, 2-4, 2-5, 3-3 and 4-4 could stimulate the growth of a polyamine auxotroph of E. coli, MA 261, as effectively as did spermidine. However, 3-3 was the only triamine which could fully replaced spermidine in promoting growth of a mutant strain, KK 101, which is more dependent on polyamines than MA 261. Thus, these results demonstrated that some synthetic triamines were as active as spermidine in eliciting these effects, and also that there were some differences among these effects in the structural requirement for triamine.  相似文献

A comparative study of the pharmacologically active constituents of 24 rhubarb samples, which were identified genetically as Rheum tanguticum, 3 intraspecies groups of R. palmatum and R. officinale, was conducted using reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) methods. Thirty compounds belonging to anthraquinones, anthraquinone glucosides, dianthrones, phenylbutanones, stilbenes, flavan-3-ols, procyanidins, galloylglucoses, acylglucoses, gallic acid, and polymeric procyanidins were analyzed quantitatively. The drug samples derived from the same botanical source showed similar chromatographic profiles, and the comparable specific shape that appeared in the 10-directed radar graphs constructed on the basis of the results of quantitative analysis indicated the relationship between chemical constituent patterns and genetic varieties of rhubarb samples.  相似文献

The coordination-driven self-assembly of four different trigonal prisms from 3 equiv of one of four different tetrapyridyl star connectors and 6 equiv of a platinum linker dication in nitromethane is presented. This face-directed approach affords high yields without template assistance. The prisms have been characterized by multinuclear and DOSY NMR and dual ESI-FT-ICR mass spectrometry. The use of a conformationally chiral star connector leads to a conformationally chiral prism when connector arm ends attached to a vertex have a strongly correlated twist sense and chirality is communicated across polyhedral faces, edges, and vertices. Molecular mechanics results suggest that in the smallest prism 3d collective effects dominate and the all-P and all-M conformers are strongly favored. NMR data prove that the two edges of the pyridine rings in the triflate salts of 3a-3d are distinct. An Eyring plot of rates obtained from line-shape analysis and 1-D EXCHSY NMR yields an activation enthalpy DeltaH(double dagger) of approximately 12 kcal/mol and activation entropy DeltaS(double dagger) of approximately -15 cal/mol x K for the edge interconversion process, compatible with pyridine rotation around the Pt-N bond. For 3c, this behavior is observed only up to approximately 318 K. At higher temperatures, the Eyring plot is again linear but follows a very different straight line, with a DeltaH(double dagger) of approximately 35 kcal/mol and DeltaS(double dagger) of approximately 60 cal/mol x K. Asymmetric cyclizations of methyl (E)-3-oxo-9-phenoxy-7-nonenoate (1) or methyl (E)-3-oxo-9-(methoxycarbonyl)oxy-7-nonenoate (4) without added base were carried out in the presence of a catalytic amount of palladium(II) acetate and chiral diphosphine as ligands. Exploratory oxidative cyclization studies on cyclopentanelated and cyclohexenelated oroidin derivatives utilized Pummerer chemistry to generate pentacyclic structures related to the palau'amine family of sponge metabolites. Stereochemical issues were paramount, and appropriate choice of annelated ring size led to formation of the pentacyclic framework with complete diastereoselectivity for all of the core bonds.  相似文献

We evaluated the binding affinity of peptide probes for profilin (protein) using force curve measurement techniques and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The peptide probes designed and synthesized for this investigation were H-A3GP5GP5GP5G-OH (1), H-A3GP5G-OH (2), H-A3G7-OH (3), and H-A3G-OH (4). Each peptide probe was immobilized on a cantilever tip, and the interaction force to profilin, immobilized on a mica substrate, was examined by force curve measurements. The retraction forces obtained showed a sequence-dependent affinity of the peptide probe for profilin. The retraction force for peptide probe 1 was the largest of the four probes examined, and it confirmed that peptide probe 1 has high affinity for profilin. The single molecular retraction force between peptide probe 1 and profilin was estimated to be 96 pN, as determined by Gaussian fitting to the histogram of the retraction forces.  相似文献

Two new diketopiperazine derivatives, bacillusamides A (1) and B (2), have been isolated from the EtOAc extract of the sea urchin-derived Bacillus sp. along with the known cyclo(-L-pro-L-val-) (3), cyclo(-L-pro-L-tyr-) (4), cyclo(-L-pro-L-phe-) (5). These structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic methods. Furthermore, the absolute configurations of the amino acid residues were determined using Marfey's method. Compound 1 displayed weak antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger.  相似文献

Broad-band dielectric measurements for fructose-water mixtures with fructose concentrations between 70.0 and 94.6 wt% were carried out in the frequency range of 2 mHz to 20 GHz in the temperature range of -70 to 45 degrees C. Two relaxation processes, the alpha process at lower frequency and the secondary beta process at higher frequency, were observed. The dielectric relaxation time of the alpha process was 100 s at the glass transition temperature, T(g), determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The relaxation time and strength of the beta process changed from weaker temperature dependences of below T(g) to a stronger one above T(g). These changes in behaviors of the beta process in fructose-water mixtures upon crossing the T(g) of the mixtures is the same as that found for the secondary process of water in various other aqueous mixtures with hydrogen-bonding molecular liquids, polymers, and nanoporous systems. These results lead to the conclusion that the primary alpha process of fructose-water mixtures results from the cooperative motion of water and fructose molecules, and the secondary beta process is the Johari-Goldstein process of water in the mixture. At temperatures near and above T(g) where both the alpha and the beta processes were observed and their relaxation times, tau(alpha) and tau(beta), were determined in some mixtures, the ratio tau(alpha)/tau(beta) is in accord with that predicted by the coupling model. Fixing tau(alpha) at 100 s, the ratio tau(alpha)/tau(beta) decreases with decreasing concentration of fructose in the mixtures. This trend is also consistent with that expected by the coupling model from the decrease of the intermolecular coupling parameter upon decreasing fructose concentration.  相似文献
