Terpenoids from the Roots of Ligularia muliensis

Three new eremophilane‐type sesquiterpenes, (6β,8α)‐6‐(acetyloxy)‐8‐hydroxyeremophil‐7(11)‐en‐12,8‐olide ( 1 ), (6α,8α)‐6‐hydroxyeremophil‐7(11)‐en‐12,8‐olide ( 2 ), and (6α,8α)‐6‐(acetyloxy)eremophil‐7(11)‐en‐12,8‐olide ( 3 ) ((8α)‐eremophil‐7(11)‐en‐12,8‐olide = (4aR,5S,8aR,9aS)‐4a,5,6,7,8,8a,9,9a‐octahydro‐3,4a,5‐trimethylnaphtho[2,3‐b]furan‐2(4H)‐one), besides the recently elucidated eremoligularin ( 4 ) and bieremoligularolide ( 5 ), as well as a new highly oxygenated monoterpene, rel‐(1R,2R,3R,4S,5S)‐p‐menthane‐1,2,3,5‐tetrol ( 12 ), together with six known constituents, i.e., the sesquiterpenes 6 and 7 , the norsesquiterpenes 8 – 10 , and the monoterpene 13 , were isolated from the roots of Ligularia muliensis. In addition, an attempt to dimerize 1 to a bieremophilenolide (Scheme) resulted in the generation of the new derivative (6β,8β)‐6‐(acetyloxy)‐8‐chloroeremophil‐7(11)‐en‐12,8‐olide ( 11 ). The new structures were established by means of detailed spectroscopic analysis (IR, FAB‐, EI‐, or HR‐ESI‐MS as well as 1D‐ and 2D‐NMR experiments). Compounds 4 and 5 were evaluated for their antitumor effects in vitro (Table 3).     

Separation and determination of seven fluoroquinolones by pressurized capillary electrochromatography

In this paper, pressurized CEC was used for the separation and determination of seven fluoroquinolones (FQs). The effect of different experimental conditions, such as the concentration and pH of the buffer, the organic modifier concentration, the surfactant and ion-paring agents added to the electrolyte, and applied voltage were studied. All the seven FQs were baseline separated using mobile phase containing 27% v/v ACN, 5 mmol/L Na2HPO4 buffer (pH 4.0 adjusted using citric acid), 11 mmol/L SDS, and 0.01% TEA v/v at detection wavelength of 287 nm and at an applied voltage of -10 kV. The calibration curves were linear (r>0.9991) over a concentration range of 1.0-50.0 mg/L for norfloxacin (NFLX); 2.5-50.0 mg/L for fleroxacin (FLX), ciprofloxacin (CPFX), and lomefloxacin (LMX); and 5.0-50.0 mg/L for enoxacin (ENX), ofloxacin (OFLX), and gatifloxacin (GFLX). The detection limits (S/N = 3) for ENX, OFLX, FLX, NFLX, CPFX, LMX, and GFLX were 0.5, 0.8, 0.4, 0.2, 0.4, 0.5, and 1.0 mg/L, respectively. The method is simple, rapid, and reproducible. It was successfully applied to the analysis of fish muscle samples spiked with FQs. Mean recoveries ranged from 81.6 to 97.6%.

TEOS-MTES基SiO2溶胶微结构的SAXS研究

正硅酸乙酯(TEOS)为前驱体,在碱性条件下制备含有无定形SiO2颗粒的溶胶,以甲基三乙氧基硅烷(MTES)在酸性条件下获得聚甲基硅氧链,二者混合后应用同步辐射X射线进行混合溶胶的SAXS散射强度测定,计算了溶胶的平均回转半径、平均粒径、两相界面层厚度、散射体体积分数、两相间比表面积等参数,辅以光子相关光谱法(PCS)和透射电子显微镜(TEM)观测溶胶粒度,证实SiO2颗粒被MTES混合物连接成族团.实验发现所测混合溶胶样品均表现出对Porod定理的负偏离,说明溶胶中颗粒与溶剂之间存在很明显的两相间界面层.     

Application of tryptamine as a derivatizing agent for the determination of airborne isocyanates. Part 5. Investigation of tryptamine-coated XAD-2 personal sampler for airborne isocyanates in workplaces.

The development of an efficient solid sorbent personal sampler with increased convenience for sample collection in workplaces is described. Several solid sorbents were coated with tryptamine, and sampling tubes were prepared with the coated sorbents. These tubes were evaluated for the collection of phenyl isocyanate vapour generated in a commercial test atmosphere generation system that permits the simultaneous collection of up to 12 uniformly loaded samples. Tryptamine-coated XAD-2 resin was shown to be the most efficient solid sorbent for the collection of airborne phenyl isocyanate. The optimum amount of tryptamine needed for coating XAD-2 resin was investigated.     

A new platinum-osmium alkyne complex from the reaction of Pt2Os4(CO)18 with PhC ≡ CPh: The synthesis,characterization, and crystal structure of Pt2Os4(CO)8 (μ3-PhC2Ph)3(μ4-PhC2Ph)

The new platinum-osmium alkyne cluster complex Pt₂Os₄(CO)₈(₃-PhC₂Ph)₃ ( ₄-PhC₂Ph),2, was obtained from the reaction of Pt₂Os₄(CO)₁₈,1b, with PhC₂Ph and was characterized by IR.¹H NMR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. The cluster of compound2 consists of an osmium capped Pt₂Os₃ square pyramid. It aLso contains three triply bridging and one quadruply bridging diphenylacetylene ligands. Crystal data for2: space group PI,a = 12.530(2) Å,b = 21.565(4) Å,c = 11.284(2) Å, = 100.31(2), = 111.89(1), = 76.78(2),Z = 2, 3879 reflections,R = 0.032.     

Determination of lead in water samples by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry after cloud point extraction

Cloud point extraction (CPE) has been used for the pre-concentration of lead, after the formation of a complex with 2-(5-bromo-2-pyridylazo)-5-(diethylamino)-phenol (5-Br-PADAP), and later analysis by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS) using octylphenoxypolyethoxyethanol (TritonX-114) as surfactant. The chemical variables affecting the separation phase were optimized. Separation of the two phases was accomplished by centrifugation for 15 min at 4000 rpm. Under the optimum conditions i.e., pH 8.0, cloud point temperature 40 °C, [5-Br-PADAP] = 2.5 × 10⁻⁵ mol l⁻¹, [Triton X-114] = 0.05%, added methanol volume = 0.15 ml, pre-concentration of only 10 ml sample permitted an enhancement factor of 50-fold. The lower limit of detection (LOD) obtained under the optimal conditions was 0.08 μg l⁻¹. The precision for 10 replicate determinations at 5 μg l⁻¹ Pb was 2.8% relative standard deviation (R.S.D.). The calibration graph using the pre-concentration system for lead was linear with a correlation coefficient of 0.9984 at levels near the detection limits up to at least 30 μg l⁻¹. The method was successfully applied to the determination of lead in water samples.     

Molecular clips form isostructural dimeric aggregates from benzene to water

We report the synthesis and characterization of eight C-shaped methylene-bridged glycoluril dimers (1-8) bearing hydrogen-bonding amide groups on their aromatic rings. Compounds 1-6 undergo tight dimerization in CDCl3 solution (Ks > 9 x 10(5) M(-1)); binary mixtures of 1-7 form mixtures of homodimers and heterodimers in moderately selective dimerization processes (0.23 < or = Keq < or = 768; 0.253 < or = chiAB < 0.933). The high affinity formation of 1.1-6.6 is due to the commensurate nature of the geometrical constraints imposed by the pi-pi interactions and only two hydrogen bonds. The differential response of the strengths of the pi-pi interactions and H-bonds of 2.2 to changes in solvent polarity--from C6D6 to D2O--results in the formation of a solvent-independent isostructural aggregate that exhibits high affinity dimerization across the full range of solvents.     

An efficient procedure for protection of carbonyls in Brønsted acidic ionic liquid [Hmim]BF4

Protection of carbonyls as acetals or ketals using Brønsted acidic ionic liquid [Hmim]BF₄ as catalyst as well as solvent was investigated. Satisfactory results were obtained for the protection of carbonyls as cycloacetals or ketals with diols. The product can be separated conveniently from the reaction system, and the ionic liquid can be reused after removal of water.
