Temperature factor effect on the structure of the separated flow within a supersonic gas stream

The effect of the temperature factor, that is, the ratio of the body temperature to the freestream stagnation temperature, on the structure of the separated flow formed in the presence of a concave corner in a supersonic stream is studied. The strong influence of the temperature factor on the separation zone length and the flow-generated aerodynamic characteristics is established. It is shown that for fairly large deflection angles this flow cannot be described by free interaction, or triple deck, theory.     

Quantum dynamics of single-photon detection

Dynamics of the elementary photoelectric conversion upon interaction of a single-photon mode with a bound electron in a one-dimensional rectangular potential well is considered. The spatial and temporal dynamics of the wave packet corresponding to a free photoelectron is investigated.     

Axisymmetric frictionless contact of functionally graded materials

The main interest of this study is a new method to solve the axisymmetric frictionless contact problem of functionally graded materials (FGMs). Based on the fact that an arbitrary curve can be approached by a series of continuous but piecewise linear curves, the FGM is divided into a series of sub-layers with shear modulus varying linearly in each sub-layer and continuous at the sub-interfaces. With this model, the axisymmetric frictionless contact problem of a functionally graded coated half-space is investigated. By using the transfer matrix method and Hankel integral transform technique, the problem is reduced to a Cauchy singular integral equation. The contact pressure, contact region and indentation are calculated for various indenters by solving the equations numerically. An erratum to this article can be found at     

Terahertz wave tomographic imaging with a Fresnel lens

We demonstrate three-dimensional tomographic imaging using a Fresnel lens with broadband terahertzpulses.Objects at various locations along the beam propagation path are uniquely imaged on the sameimaging plane using a Fresnel lens with different frequencies of the imaging beam.This procedure allowsthe reconstruction of an object's tomographic contrast image by assembling the frequency-dependentimages.     

Coprecipitation of Naphthol Azosulfonates with Organic Coprecipitants and Its Use in Flow-Injection Analysis

The coprecipitation of azo compounds based on 4-nitrophenyl- and 4-sulfophenyldiazonium naphthol sulfonates as their diphenylguanidinium ion-pair complexes with analogous compounds of naphthalene-2-sulfonic acid and 4-phenylsulfodiazonium is investigated. The optimization of the coprecipitation is considered based on the notions of the driving force of the cocrystallization of impurities. The optical characteristics of colored ion-pair complexes are measured. It is found that the water solubility is decreased most substantially for azosulfonates with hydrophobic nitro groups and with no more than two sulfo groups in different aromatic nuclei, which can lead to a decrease in the detection limit due to preconcentration by coprecipitation, which stimulates the thermodynamic flux of concentrate elution. Coprecipitation is combined with flow-injection analysis in the on-line mode, and new procedures are developed for determining naphthol sulfonates and related azo compounds with the detection limit equal to 0.003–0.006 mg/50 mL.     

Influence of Pretreatment of Expanded Graphite on Its Sorption Properties with Respect to Petroleum

Petroleum sorption on expanded graphite prepared from residual graphite hydrosulfate at 300-900°C was studied as influenced by pretreatment of the sorbent with water.     

Numerical simulation of achromatic deflecting systems

A deflecting system formed by two parallel-plate capacitors on opposite sides of an optoelectronic element that alters the energy of a beam of charged particles, is calculated numerically. The conditions for correcting the chromatic beam spreading in the plane of the target are found. Good agreement with the results of an approximate analytical calculation is demonstrated. Zh. Tekh. Factorization of univalent analytic functions on compact Riemann surfaces with boundary

The paper is devoted to the theory of factorization of univalent analytic functions on a compact Riemann surface with boundary. Noncommutative four-dimensional subalgebras of conformal algebra integrable in the space R1,3

D'alambert's equation is used as an example to study the possibilities of a new method of exactly integrating systems of linear differential equations — the method of noncommutative integration (NI). The results confirm that use of the NI is equivalent to complete separation of the variables in the case of four-dimensional subalgebras of conformal algebra. However, the method does simplify determination of the exact solution in this instance.Tomsk University.
