STABILITY NUMBER IN SUBCLASSES OF P5-FREE GRAPHS

Two new hereditary classes of P5-free graphs where the stability number can be found in polynomial time are proposed. They generalize several known results.     

外来的捕食物种对濒危物种的影响

In this paper, an important problem arising from conservation biology is considered. Namely, how does the introduced species affect the survival of a native endangered species through predation? By using Kamke comparison theorem and some results in Cui and Chen‘s paper (1998), some sufficient conditions that guarantee the permanence of the species and global stability of a unique positive periodic solution are obtained. Biological implication of these results are discussed.     

Physics with large extra dimensions

The recent understanding of string theory opens the possibility that the string scale can be as low as a few TeV. The apparent weakness of gravitational interactions can then be accounted by the existence of large internal dimensions, in the sub-millimeter region. Furthermore, our world must be confined to live on a brane transverse to these large dimensions, with which it interacts only gravitationally. In my lecture, I describe briefly this scenario which gives a new theoretical framework for solving the gauge hierarchy problem and the unification of all interactions. I also discuss a minimal embedding of the standard model, gauge coupling unification and proton stability. Titanium carbonitride films on cemented carbide cutting tool prepared by pulsed high energy density plasma

Hard films prepared by pulsed high energy density plasma (PHEDP) are characterized by high film/substrate adhesive strength, and high wear resistance. Titanium carbonitride (TiCN) films were deposited onto YG11C (ISO G20) cemented carbide cutting tool substrates by PHEDP at room temperature. XRD, XPS, SEM, AES, etc. were adopted to analyze the phases (elements) composition, microstructure and the interface of the films, respectively. The results show that, the uniform dense films are composed of grains ranging from 70 to 90 nm. According to the AES result, there is a broad transition layer between the film and the substrate, due to the ion implantation effect of the PHEDP. The transition layer is favorable for the film/substrate adhesion.

考虑二阶常微分方程x″ f(t)x=0,t≥a,(1)假设应用Riccati方法得到方程(1)的主解(principal solution)的一个渐近积分并研究其副解(nonprincipal solutions)的三种不同的渐近性质.主要结果如下:定理1 若(Ⅰ)成立,则方程(1)有解x_1满足及另一解x_2满足x_2(t)=t[1 o(1)]. 反之,若方程(1)有解x(t)→1,t→∞,则(Ⅰ)成立. 定理2 设(Ⅰ)成立.(i)若(Ⅱ)成立,则方程(1)有解x_2使x_2’(t)=1 [tF(t) G(t)][1 o(1)] o(1). (ii) 反之,若方程(1)有解x使x’→1,t→∞,则(Ⅱ)成立. 定理3 若(Ⅲ)和(Ⅳ)成立,则方程(1)有解x_1满足(2)及解x_2满足     

Variational inequalities for monotone operators in nonreflexive Banach spaces

The purpose of this paper is to study the existence problem of solutions and perturbation problem for some kind of variational inequalities with monotone operators in nonreflexive Banach spaces, and to obtain some results.     

铸膜液溶剂体系的物理参数与BCA不对称膜的透气性

铸膜液的溶剂体系（溶剂和非溶剂）对不对称膜形态的形成有重要作用。为了探索溶剂和透气性间的关系，本文考虑到了制备ＢＣＡ梯度密度不对称膜的各种溶剂的一系列物理参数，得到了一些定性结果，并指出了更全面、明确、解释两者关系的研究方向。     

Neighborhood unions and the cycle cover number of a graph

For several years, the study of neighborhood unions of graphs has given rise to important structural consequences of graphs. In particular, neighborhood conditions that give rise to hamiltonian cycles have been considered in depth. In this paper we generalize these approaches to give a bound on the smallest number of cycles in G containing all the vertices of G. We show that if for all x, y ? V(G), |N(x) ∩ N(y)| ≧ 2n/5 + 1, then V(G) is coverable by at most two cycles. Several related results and extensions to t cycles are also given.     

<Emphasis Type="Italic">q</Emphasis>-Schur Subalgebras

In Fayers and Martin [J. Algebra 240 (2001), 859–873], the author and Martin constructed embeddings of Schur algebras S(2,r)↪S(2,R). Here, we generalise to the q-Schur algebras S_q(2,r). Presented by A. Verschoren Mathematics Subject Classifications (2000) 20G05, 20C33.     

Approximation Methods for Solving the Cauchy Problem

In this paper we give some new results concerning solvability of the 1-dimensional differential equation y′ = f(x, y) with initial conditions. We study the basic theorem due to Picard. First we prove that the existence and uniqueness result remains true if f is a Lipschitz function with respect to the first argument. In the second part we give a contractive method for the proof of Picard theorem. These considerations allow us to develop two new methods for finding an approximation sequence for the solution. Finally, some applications are given.
