Comparison of the elastic and inelastic scatterings between152Sm+12C and148 Nd+16O

Angular distributions of elastic and inelastic scattering have been measured for¹⁵²Sm+¹²C at 63.2 MeV and¹⁴⁸Nd+¹⁶O at 90.9 MeV. An evident interference pattern in the inelastic scattering has been observed for the first time in a strong Coulomb coupling system.We are indebted to Dr. S. Origin and manifestation of the anharmonic potential felt by an ion-cloud in an actual Paul trap

The anharmonic potential felt by a single-species ions confined in a rf quadrupole trap which results from a non-ideal trap configuration and the charge distribution of the ion cloud is studied. The rf resonance-absorption spectra are explained by a Duffing oscillator and a representation of the line-shape parameter is derived. For > 0.77, the electric signals will exhibit hysteresis. The relation with the anharmonic potential is discussed.     

The BKK root count in

The root count developed by Bernshtein, Kushnirenko and Khovanskii only counts the number of isolated zeros of a polynomial system in the algebraic torus . In this paper, we modify this bound slightly so that it counts the number of isolated zeros in . Our bound is, apparently, significantly sharper than the recent root counts found by Rojas and in many cases easier to compute. As a consequence of our result, the Huber-Sturmfels homotopy for finding all the isolated zeros of a polynomial system in can be slightly modified to obtain all the isolated zeros in .
