Spreading of Oil Droplets Containing Surfactants and Pesticides on Water Surface Based on the Marangoni Effect

Oil droplets containing surfactants and pesticides are expected to spread on a water surface, under the Marangoni effect, depending on the surfactant. Pesticides are transported into water through this phenomenon. A high-speed video camera was used to measure the movement of Marangoni ridges. Gas chromatography with an electron capture detector was used to analyze the concentration of the pesticide in water at different times. Oil droplets containing the surfactant and pesticide spread quickly on the water surface by Marangoni flow, forming an oil film and promoting emulsification of the oil–water interface, which enabled even transport of the pesticide into water, where it was then absorbed by weeds. Surfactants can decrease the surface tension of the water subphase after deposition, thereby enhancing the Marangoni effect in pesticide-containing oil droplets. The time and labor required for applying pesticides in rice fields can be greatly reduced by using the Marangoni effect to transport pesticides to the target.     

Changes in Phenols,Polysaccharides and Volatile Profiles of Noni (Morinda citrifolia L.) Juice during Fermentation

The change in phenols, polysaccharides and volatile profiles of noni juice from laboratory- and factory-scale fermentation was analyzed during a 63-day fermentation process. The phenol and polysaccharide contents and aroma characteristics clearly changed according to fermentation scale and time conditions. The flavonoid content in noni juice gradually increased with fermentation. Seventy-three volatile compounds were identified by solid-phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (SPME-GC-MS). Methyl hexanoate, 3-methyl-3-buten-1-ol, octanoic acid, hexanoic acid and 2-heptanone were found to be the main aroma components of fresh and fermented noni juice. A decrease in octanoic acid and hexanoic acid contents resulted in the less pungent aroma in noni juice from factory-scale fermentation. The results of principal component analysis of the electronic nose suggested that the difference in nitrogen oxide, alkanes, alcohols, and aromatic and sulfur compounds, contributed to the discrimination of noni juice from different fermentation times and scales.     

Nickel-Catalyzed Cross-Coupling of Ethyl Chlorofluoroacetate with Aryl Bromides

A combinatorial nickel-catalyzed monofluoroalkylation of aryl bromides with the industrial raw regent ethyl chlorofluoroacetate has been developed. The two key factors to successful conversion are the combination of nickel with readily available nitrogen and phosphine ligands and the using of a mixture of different solvents. A class of azocarbazole-based carboxylates: High-efficiency ionic unimolecular photobase generators for thiol-epoxy click polymerization under blue light

Two new unimolecular azocarbazole-based visible photobase generators (Ac-C-Base) with different strong bases such as 1,5,7-triazabicyclo[4.4.0]dec-5-ene (TBD) and 1,1,3,3-tetramethylguanidine (TMG) as the potential active species were prepared. Their structures were confirmed by ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR, and HR-MS. According to the photolysis and EPR results, Ac-C-Base could generate free radicals and strong bases simultaneously through the photodecarboxylation mechanism under 455 nm LED irradiation. Thus they can effectively catalyze the thiol-epoxy polymerization without post exposure baking under light exposure. In addition, the Ac-C-TBD containing a stronger base shows a faster polymerization rate and higher epoxy conversion.

基于扩展有限元法的颗粒增强复合材料静态及动态断裂行为研究

运用不含裂尖增强函数的扩展有限元法,分别研究了静态及动态载荷作用下颗粒增强复合材料的断裂行为.假定基体和颗粒都为线弹性材料并且绑定完好,研究了不同颗粒位置、数量对基体裂纹尖端断裂参数的影响.数值模拟结果清晰地显示了含刚性颗粒和柔性颗粒时不同的失效机制.结果同时证明论文采用的数值方法能够准确预报颗粒增强复合材料的断裂行为,也更易于被工程界所接受.
