Speech understanding was tested for seven listeners using 12-electrode Med-El cochlear implants (CIs) and six normal-hearing listeners using a CI simulation. Eighteen different types of processing were evaluated, which varied the frequency-to-tonotopic place mapping and the upper boundary of the frequency and stimulation range. Spectrally unwarped and warped conditions were included. Unlike previous studies on this topic, the lower boundary of the frequency and stimulation range was fixed while the upper boundary was varied. For the unwarped conditions, only eight to ten channels were needed in both quiet and noise to achieve no significant degradation in speech understanding compared to the normal 12-electrode speech processing. The unwarped conditions were often the best conditions for understanding speech; however, small changes in frequency-to-place mapping (<0.77 octaves for the most basal electrode) yielded no significant degradation in performance from the nearest unwarped condition. A second experiment measured the effect of feedback training for both the unwarped and warped conditions. Improvements were found for the unwarped and frequency-expanded conditions, but not for the compressed condition. These results have implications for new CI processing strategies, such as the inclusion of spectral localization cues.  相似文献

Rhizopodin was isolated as cytostatic and weakly antifungal macrolide (1) and later characterized as potent actin-depolymerizing agent. It is produced by the myxobacterium Myxococcus stipitatus, which enables a fermentative supply of the drug for biological studies. We here report a revised structure that characterizes rhizopodin (2) as the first known dimeric bis-lactone exhibiting side chains that terminate in N-methyl-vinylformamide groups, which are otherwise found in smaller marine toxins also targeting the actin cytoskeleton. Compound 2 might function as bivalent inhibitor forming ternary complexes with actin which would explain its high efficacy.  相似文献

Novel cephalosporins, penicillins, and carbacephems were synthesized by amination of catechols with amino-beta-lactams like cefadroxil, amoxicillin, ampicillin and the structurally related carbacephem loracarbef using laccase from Trametes sp. All isolated monoaminated products inhibited the growth of several Gram positive bacterial strains in the agar diffusion assay, among them methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus strains and vancomycin-resistant Enterococci. Observed differences in the cytotoxicity and in vivo activity in a "Staphylococcus-infected, immune suppressed mouse" model are discussed.  相似文献

The enantiomerically pure chlorins 19 and 21 were synthesised from tripyrrolic nickel complex rac-17 and pyrrole building blocks 12 and 16. The pyrroles are annelated with norbornane moieties which contain the chiral information as well as two different functionalities. The functional groups, namely a carboxylic acid ester and a carbonitrile group, of chlorin 21 finally allowed the formation of an amino acid functionality at the periphery of the macrotetracycle. By using principles of peptide chemistry, the two chlorin subunits were joined to form the peptide-linked chlorin-chlorin dyad 24, which mimics the molecular parts of the natural photosynthetic reaction centre.  相似文献
