Let the functionQ be holomorphic in he upper half plane + and such that ImQ(z 0 and ImzQ(z) 0 ifz +. A basic result of M.G. Krein states that these functionsQ are the principal Titchmarsh-Weyl coefficiens of a (regular or singular) stringS[L,m] with a (non-decreasing) mass distribution functionm on some interval [0,L) with a free left endpoint 0. This string corresponds to the eigenvalue problemdf + fdm = 0; f(0–) = 0. In this note we show that the set of functionsQ which are holomorphic in + and such that the kernel has negative squares of + and ImzQ(z) 0 ifz + is the principal Titchmarsh-Weyl coefficient of a generalized string, which is described by the eigenvalue problemdf +f dm + 2 fdD = 0 on [0,L),f(0–) = 0. In the present paper a subclass of scalar Nevanlinna functions is studied, which coincides with the class of Weyl functions associated to a nonnegative symmetric operator of defect one in a Hilbert space. This class consists of all Nevanlinna functions that are holomorphic on (?∞, 0) and all those Nevanlinna functions that have one negative pole a and are injective on ${(-\infty, a)\,\cup\, (a, 0)}$ . These functions are characterized via integral representations and special attention is paid to linear fractional transformations which arise in extension and spectral problems of symmetric and selfadjoint operators.  相似文献

 Let be a homomorphism with dense image in the compact group C. If is a continuity set, i.e. its topological boundary has Haar measure 0, then is called a Hartman set. If M is aperiodic then S contains the essential information about (C, ι) or, equivalently, about the dynamical system (C, T) where T is the ergodic group rotation . Using Pontryagin’s duality the paper presents a new method to get this information from S: The set S induces a filter on which is an isomorphism invariant for (C, T) and turns out to be a complete invariant for ergodic group rotations. If one takes , , , , one gets the interesting special case of Kronecker sequences (nα) which are classical objects in number theory and diophantine analysis.  相似文献

We consider nonnegative solutions of the Neumann initial-boundary value problem for the chemotaxis-growth system $$\begin{aligned} \left\{ \begin{array}{l} u_t=\varepsilon u_{xx} -(uv_x)_x +ru -\mu u^2, \qquad x\in \Omega , \ t>0, \\ 0=v_{xx}-v+u, \qquad x\in \Omega , \ t>0, \end{array} \right. \quad (\star ) \end{aligned}$$ in \(\Omega :=(0,L)\subset \mathbb {R}\) with \(L>0, \varepsilon >0, r\ge 0\) and \(\mu >0\) , along with the corresponding limit problem formally obtained upon taking \(\varepsilon \searrow 0\) . For the latter hyperbolic–elliptic problem, we establish results on local existence and uniqueness within an appropriate generalized solution concept. In this context we shall moreover derive an extensibility criterion involving the norm of \(u(\cdot ,t)\) in \(L^\infty (\Omega )\) . This will enable us to conclude that in this case \(\varepsilon =0\) ,
  • if \(\mu \ge 1\) , then all solutions emanating from sufficiently regular initial data are global in time, whereas
  • if \(\mu <1\) , then some solutions blow-up in finite time.
The latter will reveal that the original parabolic–elliptic problem ( \(\star \) ), though known to possess no such exploding solutions, exhibits the following property of dynamical structure generation: given any \(\mu \in (0,1)\) , one can find smooth bounded initial data with the property that for each prescribed number \(M>0\) the solution of ( \(\star \) ) will attain values above \(M\) at some time, provided that \(\varepsilon \) is sufficiently small. In particular, this means that the associated carrying capacity given by \(\frac{r}{\mu }\) can be exceeded during evolution to an arbitrary extent. We finally present some numerical simulations that illustrate this type of solution behavior and that, moreover, inter alia, indicate that achieving large population densities is a transient dynamical phenomenon occurring on intermediate time scales only.  相似文献

Elastic properties of TaC have been investigated experimentally and by model calculations. The elastic stiffness coefficients c11=597(11) GPa and c44=153(2) GPa were determined on a (100)-oriented disc-shaped monocrystal at room temperature using a plane-wave ultrasound method. The corresponding theoretical values (c11=621(3), c44=166.8(3) GPa) agree within 4 and 8%, respectively. Therefore, we are confident that the predicted value for c12 is equally accurate, and this allows the prediction of the Bulk and Young's moduli and the Poisson ratio. Data published earlier are critically reviewed and predictions concerning the possibility to synthesize extremely incompressible carbides are made.  相似文献

Laser-deposited metallic alloys and multilayers were studied in detail by a combination of high-resolution ex situ and time-resolved in situ experiments. The purpose of these experiments is to better understand the special properties of laser-deposited metallic films in comparison with conventionally prepared thin films. During deposition, thickness, resistance, and electron diffraction (THEED) experiments show that the film surface is resputtered, local mixing at the interfaces of multilayers on a nanometre scale occurs, and metastable phases up to large film thicknesses are formed. After deposition, a compressive stress of 1-2 GPa was measured using four-circle diffractometry, and growth defects were observed on an atomic scale by electron microscopy (HRTEM) and field ion microscopy (FIM). The obtained structural details of the metallic films can be explained by an implantation model for the laser deposition process.  相似文献
