The alpha-1 and alpha-2 isomers of the monovacant Wells-Dawson heteropolyoxoanion [P(2)W(17)O(61)](10-) are complexants of trivalent rare-earth (RE) ions and serve to stabilize otherwise reactive tetravalent lanthanide (Ln) and actinide (An) ions in aqueous solution. Aspects of the bonding of Ln ions with alpha-1-[P(2)W(17)O(61)](10-) and alpha-2-[P(2)W(17)O(61)](10-) were investigated to address issues of complex formation and stability. We present structural insights about the Ln(III) coordination environment and hydration in two types of stoichiometric complexes, [Ln(alpha-1-P(2)W(17)O(61))](7-) and [Ln(alpha-2-X(2)W(17)O(61))(2)](17-) (for Ln identical with Sm, Eu, Lu; X identical with P, As). The crystal and molecular structures of [(H(2)O)(4)Lu(alpha-1-P(2)W(17)O(61))](7-) (1) and [Lu(alpha-2-P(2)W(17)O(61))(2)](17-) (2) were solved and refined through use of single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystallographic results are supported with corresponding insights from XAFS (X-ray absorption fine structure) for a series of nine solid-state complexes as well as from optical luminescence spectroscopy of the Eu(III) analogues in aqueous solution. All the Ln ions are eight-coordinate with oxygen atoms in a square antiprism arrangement. For the 1:1 stoichiometric Ln/alpha-1-[P(2)W(17)O(61)](10-) complexes, the Ln ions are bound to four O atoms of the lacunary polyoxometalate framework in addition to four O atoms from solvent (water) molecules as [(H(2)O)(4)Ln(alpha-1-P(2)W(17)O(61))](7-). This structure (1) is the first of its kind for any metal complex of alpha-1-[P(2)W(17)O(61)](10-), and the data indicate that the general stoichiometry [(H(2)O)(4)Ln(alpha-1-P(2)W(17)O(61))](7-) is maintained throughout the lanthanide series. For the 1:2 stoichiometric Ln/alpha-2-[X(2)W(17)O(61)](10-) complexes, no water molecules are in the Ln-O(8) coordination sphere. The Ln ions are bound to eight O atoms-four from each of two heteropolyanions-as [Ln(alpha-2-X(2)W(17)O(61))(2)](17-). The average Ln-O interatomic distances decrease across the lanthanide series, consistent with the decreasing Ln ionic radius.  相似文献

Achiral P‐donor pincer‐aryl ruthenium complexes ([RuCl(PCP)(PPh3)]) 4c , d were synthesized via transcyclometalation reactions by mixing equivalent amounts of [1,3‐phenylenebis(methylene)]bis[diisopropylphosphine] ( 2c ) or [1,3‐phenylenebis(methylene)]bis[diphenylphosphine] ( 2d ) and the N‐donor pincer‐aryl complex [RuCl{2,6‐(Me2NCH2)2C6H3}(PPh3)], ( 3 ; Scheme 2). The same synthetic procedure was successfully applied for the preparation of novel chiral P‐donor pincer‐aryl ruthenium complexes [RuCl(P*CP*)(PPh3)] 4a , b by reacting P‐stereogenic pincer‐arenes (S,S)‐[1,3‐phenylenebis(methylene)]bis[(alkyl)(phenyl)phosphines] 2a , b (alkyl=iPr or tBu, P*CHP*) and the complex [RuCl{2,6‐(Me2NCH2)2C6H3}(PPh3)], ( 3 ; Scheme 3). The crystal structures of achiral [RuCl(equation/tex2gif-sup-3.gifPCP)(PPh3)] 4c and of chiral (S,S)‐[RuCl(equation/tex2gif-sup-6.gifPCP)(PPh3)] 4a were determined by X‐ray diffraction (Fig. 3). Achiral [RuCl(PCP)(PPh3)] complexes and chiral [RuCl(P*CP*)(PPh3)] complexes were tested as catalyst in the H‐transfer reduction of acetophenone with propan‐2‐ol. With the chiral complexes, a modest enantioselectivity was obtained.  相似文献

Re-suspension studies on soils contaminated with plutonium during nuclear weapons tests were performed by use of a mechanical dust-raising apparatus. Airborne dust was analyzed in terms of mass and241Am activities for particle sizes less than 7 m. The AMAD was determined as 4.8 to 6 m, for re-suspended soil. Also, surface soil was characterized in the laboratory by means of sieving and microparticle classification, yielding mass and241Am activity distributions with respect to size. Data indicate the granularity of plutonium contamination at both major and minor trial sites. Depth profile analyses for undisturbed, areas demonstrate that most (74% on average) of the americium and plutonium activity is found in the top 10 mm of soil. Plutonium and americium activities were found to be enhanced in the inhalable fraction over their values, in the total soil, and the enhancement factors were similar in re-suspended dust and surface soil. Observed enhancement factors ranged from 3.7 to 32.5.  相似文献

Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) is used to evaluate the metal binding selectivities of an array of novel caged macrocycles for silver, gold, copper, nickel, zinc, iron, lead, manganese and alkali metal ions. It is found that five of the new compounds display silver selectivity, and their relative affinities for various metals depend on the type, number, and arrangement of heteroatoms (N, O), the cavity size, and the presence of aromatic substituents. Alkali metal cation binding studies are used to evaluate the size-selectivities of the cavities of the macrocycles. Electronic structure calculation by B3LYP density function theory methods were used to model the metal complexes. The presence of nitrogen atoms in the macrocyclic ring is essential for silver selectivity over other transition metals and alkali metal ions, and the presence of aromatic groups also enhances silver avidity. Macrocycle 3, a triaza-18-crown-6 analog modified with two phenyl groups and a cage group, is capable of selective extraction of Ag+ from aqueous solutions in the presence of other transition metal ions and the most common alkali and alkaline earth metal ions.  相似文献

An indirect spectrophotometric method, based on the rapid Diels-Alder reaction between cisoid 1,3-dienes and tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) and the destruction of an aromatic-TCNE pi-complex, was developed to determine eleven 1,3-dienes in the 0.05-1.00 x 10(-3)M range. These dienes were: cyclopentadiene; 1,3-cyclohexadiene; trans-1,3-pentadiene; 2,4-dimethyl-1,3-pentadiene; trans-2-methyl-1,3-pentadiene; 2-methyl-1,3-butadiene; 9-methylanthracene; 9,10-dimethylanthracene; 1,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene; 2,3-dimethyl-1,3-butadiene; and 1,4-diphenyl-1,3-butadiene. Three 1,3-dienes were determined in the 0.05-1 x 10(-4)M range: cyclopentadiene, trans-2-methyl-1,3-pentadiene, and anthracene. The limit of detection for cyclopentadiene in carbon tetrachloride solutions is 0.11 microg/ml. Fourteen 1,3-dienes were found to form stable pi-complexes and could not be determined by the proposed method. For these 1,3-dienes, the spectra of some of the complexes are reported; in addition, relative equilibrium constants for the pi-complexes of 2,5-dimethyl-2,4-hexadiene, cis-1,3-pentadiene, 4-methyl-1,3-pentadiene, and 1,3-cyclo-octadiene were estimated. An explanation of the transient colour in the 1,3-diene-TCNE Diels-Alder reaction is suggested.  相似文献

In tetracene doped anthracene, the magnetic field modulation of prompt tetracene fluorescence following excitation into the anthracene singlet manifold has been measured as a function of the magnetic field orientation and optical excitation energy. The results show that this modulation with low energy excitation is caused by singlet heterofission into one anthracene triplet exciton and one tetracene triplet. With higher excitation energies this modulation is due to both the singlet heterofission and also singlet homofission into a pair of anthracene triplet excitons. Heterofission occurs mainly from anthracene molecules next to a tetracene and competes with the singlet trapping. From the singlet trapping rate and from the magnetic modulation of tetracene prompt fluorescence the heterofission rate is estimated as ≈10?11s?1.  相似文献

Quantum mechanical calculations of the geometric, energetic, electronic, and vibrational features of a transition structure for gas-phase water–formaldehyde addition (FW1?) are described, and a new transition-structure search algorithm is presented. Basis-set-dependent effects are assessed by comparisons of computed properties obtained from self-consistent field (SCF) molecular orbital (MO) calculations with STO-3G, 4-31G, and 6-31G** basis sets in the absence of electron correlation. The results obtained suggest that STO-3G-level calculations may be sufficiently reliable for the prediction of the transition structure of FW1? and for the transition structures of related carbonyl addition reactions. Moreover, the calculated activation energy for formation of FW1? from water and formaldehyde (?44 kcal mol?1) is very similar in all three basis sets. However, the energy of formaldehyde hydration predicted by STO-3G (? ?45 kcal mol?1) is about three times larger than that predicted by the other two basis sets, with the activation energy for dihydroxymethane dehydration also being too large in STO-3G. Calculated force constants in all three basis sets are generally too large, leading to vibrational frequencies that are also too large. However, uniformly scaled force constants (in internal coordinates) give much better agreement with experimental frequencies, scaled 4-31G force constants being slightly superior to scaled STO-3G force constants.  相似文献

The effects on ion motion caused by the application of a resonance AC dipole voltage to the end-cap electrodes of the quadrupole ion trap are described. An excimer laser is used to photodissociate benzoyl ions, and its triggering is phase locked to the AC voltage to follow the motion of the ion cloud as a function of the phase angle of the AC signal. Resonantly excited ions maintain a coherent motion in the presence of He buffer gas, which dissipates energy from the ions via collisions. Maximum ion displacements, which depend upon the potential well depth (q z value), occur twice each AC cycle. Axial components of ion velocities are determined by differentiating the displacements of the distributions with respect to time. The experimental data show that these velocities are maximized when the ion cloud passes through zero axial displacement, and they compare favorably with results calculated using a simple harmonic oscillator model. Axial components of ion kinetic energies are low (<5 eV) under the chosen experimental conditions. At low values of q2 (≈ 0.2), the width of the ion distribution increases as the ion cloud approaches the center of the trap and decreases as it approaches the end-cap electrodes.
