Small-scale dynamo action has been obtained for a flow previously used to model fluid turbulence, where the sensitivity of the magnetic field parameters to the kinetic energy spectrum can be explored. We apply quantitative morphology diagnostics, based on the Minkowski functionals, to magnetic fields produced by the kinematic small-scale dynamo to show that magnetic structures are predominantly filamentary rather than sheetlike. Our results suggest that the thickness, width, and length of the structures scale differently with magnetic Reynolds number as R(m)(-2/(1-s)) and R(m)(-0.55} for the former two, whereas the latter is independent of R(m), with s the slope of the energy spectrum.  相似文献

The results of this paper concern the Morse theory of the norm-square of the moment map on the space of representations of a quiver. We show that the gradient flow of this function converges, and that the Morse stratification induced by the gradient flow co-incides with the Harder–Narasimhan stratification from algebraic geometry. Moreover, the limit of the gradient flow is isomorphic to the graded object of the Harder–Narasimhan–Jordan–Hölder filtration associated to the initial conditions for the flow. With a view towards applications to Nakajima quiver varieties we construct explicit local co-ordinates around the Morse strata and (under a technical hypothesis on the stability parameter) describe the negative normal space to the critical sets. Finally, we observe that the usual Kirwan surjectivity theorems in rational cohomology and integral K-theory carry over to this non-compact setting, and that these theorems generalize to certain equivariant contexts.  相似文献

Information on the properties of the ? meson in the nuclear environment has been derived from its production in proton collisions with C, Cu, Al, and Au nuclear targets. The experiment was carried out with 2.83?GeV protons at the Cooler Synchrotron COSY, with the ? being detected via its K ?+? K ?? decay using the ANKE magnetic spectrometer. The measured dependence of the production cross section on the nuclear mass number has been compared with calculations within three different nuclear models. These suggest a significant broadening of the width of the ? in medium relative to its vacuum value. The ANKE results obtained in the momentum range 0.6?p ? ?c are compared with data from photoproduction experiments at slightly higher momenta.  相似文献

Indications for the production of a neutral excited hyperon in the reaction pp --> pK+Y0* are observed in an experiment performed with the ANKE spectrometer at COSY-Jülich at p(beam) = 3.65 GeV/c. Two final states were investigated simultaneously, viz. Y0* --> pi+X- and pi-X+, and consistent results were obtained in spite of the quite different experimental conditions. The parameters of the hyperon state are M(Y0*) = (1480 +/-15) MeV/c2 and gamma(Y0*) = (60 +/- 15) MeV/c2. The production cross section for Y0* decaying through these channels is of the order of few hundred nanobarns. Since the isospin of the Y0* has not been determined here, it could either be an observation of the sigma(1480), a one-star resonance of the Particle Data Group tables, or, alternatively, a lambda hyperon. Relativistic quark models for the baryon spectrum do not predict any excited hyperon in this mass range and so the Y0* may be of exotic nature.  相似文献

Events which satisfy the kinematics of p(16O,CHep), with low excitation energy in the (CHe) system and a low-energy recoil proton, have been identified in the interactions of 200 GeV/nucleon 16O ions with nuclear emulsion. An eikonal DWIA estimate of the target A-dependence of strong-interaction diffractive dissociation suggests that, on the basis of these hydrogen data, most of the (CHe) final states, previously ascribed to electromagnetic dissociation on heavy nuclei, might rather be hadronic in character. This contamination is very much less important in the dominant (NH) channel.  相似文献

The differential cross section and deuteron analysing powers of the p → {pp}n charge-exchange reaction have been measured with the ANKE spectrometer at the COSY storage ring. Using a deuteron beam of energy 1170MeV, data were obtained for small momentum transfers to a {pp} system with low excitation energy. A good quantitative understanding of all the measured observables is provided by the impulse approximation using known neutron-proton amplitudes. The proof of principle achieved here for the method suggests that measurements at higher energies will provide useful information in regions where the existing np database is far less reliable.  相似文献
