The fungal genus Psilocybe and other genera comprise numerous mushroom species that biosynthesize psilocybin (4-phosphoryloxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine). It represents the prodrug to its dephosphorylated psychotropic analogue, psilocin. The colloquial term “magic mushrooms” for these fungi alludes to their hallucinogenic effects and to their use as recreational drugs. However, clinical trials have recognized psilocybin as a valuable candidate to be developed into a medication against depression and anxiety. We here highlight its recently elucidated biosynthesis, the concurrently developed concept of enzymatic in vitro and heterologous in vivo production, along with previous synthetic routes. The prospect of psilocybin as a promising therapeutic may entail an increased demand, which can be met by biotechnological production. Self-adapting fixed endpoint configurational-bias Monte Carlo simulations in the Gibbs ensemble were carried out to determine the vapour–liquid coexistence curves of cyclic alkanes from c-pentane to c-octadecane. In general, the critical temperatures and densities of the cyclic alkanes are substantially higher than those of their linear counterparts. There exist many different approaches investigating the contraction mechanisms of skeletal muscles. Thereby, the mechanical behavior, such as force generation in association with kinematic and microstructure, play an important role in modeling of muscle behavior. Besides the mechanical behaviour, the validation of muscle models requires the geometrical environment, too. The geometry of a muscle can be divided into macrostructure, existing of aponeurosis-tendon-complex (ATC) and muscle tissue (MT), as well as the fascicle architecture, representing the microstructure of the MT. In this study, the macrostructure of the isolated M. gastrocnemius was observed during isometric contraction by using three-dimensional optical measurement systems in combination with mechanical measurement techniques. The surface deformation was reconstructed at specific force and length relationships and further the muscle tissue, aponeurosis, and tendon were distinguished, building up a macroscopic geometrical dataset. Synthesis of small‐molecule Cu2O2 adducts has provided insight into the related biological systems and their reactivity patterns including the interconversion of the CuII2(μ‐η2:η2‐peroxo) and CuIII2(μ‐oxo)2 isomers. In this study, absorption spectroscopy, kinetics, and resonance Raman data show that the oxygenated product of [(BQPA)CuI]+ initially yields an “end‐on peroxo” species, that subsequently converts to the thermodynamically more stable “bis‐μ‐oxo” isomer (Keq=3.2 at ?90 °C). Calibration of density functional theory calculations to these experimental data suggest that the electrophilic reactivity previously ascribed to end‐on peroxo species is in fact a result of an accessible bis‐μ‐oxo isomer, an electrophilic Cu2O2 isomer in contrast to the nucleophilic reactivity of binuclear CuII end‐on peroxo species. This study is the first report of the interconversion of an end‐on peroxo to bis‐μ‐oxo species in transition metal‐dioxygen chemistry. 相似文献
