Self-focussing of high-power TEA CO2 laser pulses for a number of 10 m P-band lines is reported in SF6 molecular gas. Application of this effect to estimating the intensity-dependent refractive index of the gas is demonstrated.  相似文献

The development of a sensitive and specific method of determining individually the five tetraalkyllead compounds normally present in ambient air is described. The method is based on collection of the analytes on a porous polymer using a prefilter to destroy ozone and prevent decomposition of the sample during collection and storage. Two-stage thermal desorption, separation by gas chromatography and detection by modified flame atomic absorption spectrometry gives detection limits (3σ) of ca. 0.25 ng Pb m?3 for tetramethyllead and 0.37 ng Pb m?3 for tetraethyllead in an air sample of 80 dm3 collected over a 3–24 h period. Environmental sampling by this method in paralle with a wet chemical (iodine monochloride) method was used to validate the method. During the comparative study, higher organic lead levels were consistently found by the iodine monochloride method; it is postulated that this indicates the presence of vapour-phase tri-(or di)-alkyllead in excess of 1 ng Pb m?3 in rural air. The versatility of the method is demonstrated by the results of atmospheric sampling at two locations, one rural and one at the kerbside in a city centre.  相似文献

Electron spin resonance (ESR) and magnetic-susceptibility measurements on the Li1+xTi2?xO4 spinel system (0 ≤ x ≤ 13) indicate the presence of two types of localized moments in this material. In both cases, an unpaired electron is trapped as a Ti3+ ion in a crystal field that is predominantly octahedral, but with a strong tetragonal component. This type of crystal field cannot arise in the stoichiometric spinel. We propose two types of defect in the title spinel system: an oxygen vacancy and a hydroxyl ion. Unpaired electrons are trapped as Ti3+ ions adjacent to these defects, and it is argued that the strong tetragonal field is associated with the formation of a static (TiO)+ ion by a displacement of the titanium ion from the defect. Spin relaxation occurs via a thermal ionization of the trapped electron that appears to be associated with a static-dynamic transition in the titanium-ion displacement.  相似文献

The collision-induced dissociation (CID) mass spectra of protonated cocaine and protonated heroin have been measured using a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer at 50 eV ion/neutral collision energy for protonated molecules prepared by different protonating agents. The CID mass spectra of protonated cocaine using H+(H2O)n, H+(NH3)n and H+((CH3)2NH)n as protonating agents are essentially identical and it is concluded that, regardless of the initial site of protonation, the fragmentation reactions occurring on collisional activation are identical. By contrast, protonated heorin prepared with H+(H2O)n and H+(NH3)n as protonating agents show substantial differences. That formed by reaction of H+(H2O)n shows a much more abundant peak corresponding to loss of CH3CO2H. From a comparison with model compounds, and from a consideration of the three-dimensional structure of heroin, it is concluded that with H+(H2O)n as protonating agent significant protonation occurs at the acetate group attached to the alicyclic ring, leading to acetic acid loss on collisional activation, but that reaction of H+(NH3)n leads to protonation at the nitrogen function. The proton attached to nitrogen cannot interact with the acetate group and, consequently, the probability of loss of acetic acid on collislional activation is greatly reduced.  相似文献

A key issue regarding the speciation of Al(3+) in serum is how well the ligands citric acid and phosphate can compete with the iron transport protein serum transferrin for the aluminum. Previous studies have attempted to measure binding constants for each ligand separately, but experimental problems make it very difficult to obtain stability constants with the accuracy required to make a meaningful comparison between these ligands. In this study, effective binding constants for Al-citrate and Al-phosphate at pH 7.4 have been determined using difference UV spectroscopy to monitor the direct competition between these ligands and transferrin. The analysis of this competition equilibrium also includes the binding of citrate and phosphate as anions to apotransferrin. The effective binding constants are 10(11.59) for the 1:1 Al-citrate complexes and 10(14.90) for the 1:2 Al-citrate complexes. The effective binding constant for the 1:2 Al-phosphate complex is 10(12.02). No 1:1 Al-phosphate complex was detected. Speciation calculations based on these effective binding constants indicate that, at serum concentrations of citrate and phosphate, citrate will be the primary low-molecular-mass ligand for aluminum. Formal stability constants for the Al-citrate system have also been determined by potentiometric methods. This equilibrium system is quite complex, and information from both electrospray mass spectrometry and difference UV experiments has been used to select the best model for fitting the potentiometric data. The mass spectra contain peaks that have been assigned to complexes having aluminum:citrate stoichiometries of 1:1, 1:2, 2:2, 2:3, and 3:3. The difference UV results were used to determine the stability constant for Al(H(-1)cta)-, which was then used in the least-squares fitting of the potentiometric data to determine stability constants for Al(Hcta)+, Al(cta), Al(cta)2(3-), Al(H(-1)cta)(cta)(4-), Al2(H(-1)cta)2(2-), and Al3(H(-1)cta)3(OH)(4-).  相似文献

Growth of large single crystals of quasi-two-dimensional Ln2NiO4 (Ln = La, Pr, Nd) has been accomplished using the radio frequency technique of skull melting under controlled oxygen partial pressures. No evidence of intergrowth of other phases such as Ln3Ni2O7 or higher homologs was observed. Determination of the Ni3+ content indicates that the crystals are cation deficient.  相似文献

A study of the electron impact and chemical ionization (H2, CH4, and iso-C4H10) mass spectra of stereoisomeric benzoin oximes and phenylhydrazones indicates that while the former can be distinguished only by their chemical ionization mass spectra the latter are readily distinguishable by both their electron impact and chemical ionization mass spectra. The electron impact mass spectra of the isomeric oximes are practically identical; however, the chemical ionization spectra show that the E isomer forms more stable [MH]+ and [MH? H2O]+ ions than the Z isomer for which both the [MH]+ and [MH? H2O]+ ions are relatively unstable. In electron impact the Z-phenylhydrazone shows a lower [M]+˙ ion abundance and more facile loss of H2O than does the E isomer. This more facile H2O loss also is observed for the [MH]+ ion of the Z isomer under chemical ionization conditions.  相似文献

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a promising treatment modality that has recently been accepted in clinics as a curative or palliative therapy for cancer and other nonmalignant conditions. Phthalocyanines (Pc) are attractive photosensitizers for PDT because of their enhanced photophysical and photochemical properties. The overall charge and solubility of Pc play a major role in their potential usefulness for PDT. A series of amphiphilic derivatives of tetrasulfonated aluminum Pc (AlPcS4) was prepared by substituting one of the four sulfonate groups with aliphatic side chains of 4, 8, 12 and 16 carbon atoms. The photodynamic properties of the derivatives were compared with those of AlPcS4 and the adjacent disulfonated aluminum Pc. Parameters studied included reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) retention times, capacity to generate singlet oxygen (1O2), in vitro cell uptake and phototoxicity, as well as PDT response of transplantable EMT-6 tumors in mice. The monomerized AlPcS4 derivatives showed similar or higher capacities to generate 1O2 as compared with the parent AlPcS4 as measured from relative L-tryptophan photooxidation yields. A549 cell uptake of the AlPcS4 derivatives decreased in the following order: AlPcS4(C16) > AlPcS4(C12) > AlPcS4(C8) > AlPcS4(C4). Human low-density lipoprotein at high concentrations (40 micrograms/mL) completely prevented uptake, whereas at 4 micrograms/mL uptake was decreased for the more lipophilic compounds and yet remained unaffected for the more hydrophilic dyes. Using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay, A549 cell survival was assessed; it showed that photocytotoxic activity varied directly with the HPLC retention times, i.e. more hydrophilic compounds were less phototoxic. As 1O2 yields were similar for the four substituted AlPcS4 derivatives, it was postulated that the increased cytotoxic activity was caused by enhanced subcellular localization as a result of the long aliphatic side chains. These amphiphilic compounds proved to be photodynamically potent against the EMT-6 mouse mammary tumor model implanted in Balb/c mice. At dye doses of 0.2 mumol/kg and a fluence of 400 J/cm2 complete tumor regression was observed with no morbidity. The substitution of AlPcS4 with long aliphatic chains on the macrocycle greatly enhances its photodynamic efficacy both in vitro and in vivo.  相似文献

The study of the reactions of tertiary propargyl alcohols with sodium halides under oxidative conditions is presented. With sodium iodide, α-iodoenones were formed, however, with sodium bromide or chloride the α-haloenones were only formed in low yields under anhydrous conditions. Conversely, upon addition of water to the reaction mixtures, α,α-dibromoketones and α,α-dichloroketones were formed in good yields, but α,α-diiodoketones were not observed.  相似文献

The preparation and properties of cyanobiphenyl liquid crystal droplets encapsulated by the polymerizable lecithin 1,2-bis(10,12-tricosadiynoyl)-sn-glyero-3-phosphocholine (DC8,9PC) are described. Under a wide variety of preparation conditions the droplets obtain a diameter of approximately 10 mum. These droplets are stable for periods of over one year at room temperature. Furthermore, they are stable upon temperature cycling between the nematic and isotropic phases and between the smectic A to nematic to isotropic phase transitions.  相似文献
