Recent catalytic syntheses of trifluoromethylthio-containing organic compounds by transition metals,chiral organocatalysts,and photocatalysts

This review summarizes the recent advances in the catalytic syntheses of CF_3S-containing organic molecules using various nucleophilic or electrophilic trifluoromethylthiolating reagents.C-halogen and C—H bonds in various molecules have been transformed to C—SCF_3 bonds by transition-metal-catalyzed reactions,such as cross-coupling of aryl halides.Enantioselective reactions controlled by chiral metal complexes or chiral organocatalysts have afforded many trifluoromethylthiolated chiral architectures,such as β-ketoesters and oxindoles.Very recently,visible-light-induced photoredox trifluoromethylthiolations have been developed,providing versatile CF_3S-containing structures efficiently.     

Understanding the thermal stability of human serum proteins with the related near-infrared spectral variables selected by Monte Carlo-uninformative variable elimination

Understanding the thermal stability of the proteins in human serum is essential since human serum is the important source of pharmaceutical proteins. Near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy was applied to the investigation of thermal changes in secondary structure and hydration of human serum proteins. However, as a multicomponent system, the overlap of the broad NIR bands makes the structural analysis very difficult directly using the spectra of serum samples. Therefore, continuous wavelet transform (CWT) was used to improve the resolution of NIR spectra, and Monte Carlo-uninformative variable elimination (MC-UVE) method was applied to the selection of the variables associated with the proteins for the structural analysis. The variables (5956, 5867, 5815, 5747, 4525, 4401, 4359 and 4328 cm^-1) related to protein secondary structures and those (7074, 6951, 6827 and 6700 cm^-1) connected with water species were selected. Then, the thermal stability was analyzed through the intensity variations of the selected variables with temperature from 30 ℃ to 80 ℃. It was found that the variation of the spectral variables related to both α-helix and β-sheetchanges apparently around 60 ℃, indicating the beginning of the thermal denaturation and the transition from α-helix to β-sheet. Moreover, an obvious change was found around 60 ℃ for the content of the water specie S₃, i.e., the water cluster containing three hydrogen bonds. The result demonstrates that MC-UVE can identify the protein-related NIR spectral variables, and the water species may be a marker for investigation of the structural change of proteins in biochemical systems.     

Hydrothermal Syntheses and Crystal Structure of a New Organic Hybrid Holmium–Germanate Oxo-Cluster

A new organic hybrid holmium–germanate oxo-cluster [Ho₈(phen)₂Ge₁₂(μ ₃-O)₂₄(CH₂CH₂COO)₁₂(H₂O)₁₆]·2H₂O (1, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) was prepared under mild hydrothermal conditions and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, UV/Vis, IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and powder X-ray diffraction. Compounds 1 contains cage clusters [Ho₈(phen)₂Ge₁₂(μ ₃-O)₂₄(CH₂CH₂COO)₁₂(H₂O)₁₆] and free H₂O molecules. The cage cluster is constructed by the combination of two [Ho(phen)(H₂O)₂] units, two [Ge₆O₁₂(CH₂CH₂COO)₆] rings and one circular [Ho₆O₃₆] fragment via sharing O atoms. 1 is the rare example of organic hybrid holmium–germanate oxo-cluster decorated by phen ligands.     

Topochemical polymerisation of assembled diacetylene macrocycle bearing dibenzylphosphine oxide in solid state

Novel diacetylene macrocycles 1 and 2 bearing dibenzylphosphine oxide were synthesised via Eglinton acetylenic intramolecular coupling. The X-ray analysis of crystals of macrocycles 1 and 2 demonstrated that the better-aligned tubular supramolecular structure was formed in macrocycle 1 than in macrocycle 2, which provided the possibility of diacetylene topochemical polymerisation in solid state of macrocycle 1. UV–vis, Raman spectroscopy and X-ray analysis indicated that the crystals of macrocycle 1 could undergo topochemical diacetylene polymerisation only on their surface by light irradiation; differential scanning calorimetry, solid-state ¹³C NMR spectroscopy and solubility test demonstrated that the crystals of macrocycle 1 could undergo diacetylene topochemical polymerisation inside solid by heat. As expected, based on the topological analysis of crystal structure, the crystals of macrocycle 2 could not undergo diacetylene topochemical polymerisation either by light irradiation or heat.     

Non-Pincer-Type Manganese Complexes as Efficient Catalysts for the Hydrogenation of Esters

Catalytic hydrogenation of carboxylic acid esters is essential for the green production of pharmaceuticals, fragrances, and fine chemicals. Herein, we report the efficient hydrogenation of esters with manganese catalysts based on simple bidentate aminophosphine ligands. Monoligated Mn PN complexes are particularly active for the conversion of esters into the corresponding alcohols at Mn concentrations as low as 0.2 mol % in the presence of sub-stoichiometric amounts of KO^tBu base.     

Structural requirement of C11b chirality of tetrabenazine analogs as VMAT2 imaging ligands: synthesis and in vivo evaluation

We studied on the structural requirement of C11b chirality of tetrabenazine (TBZ) analogs as vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) ligands. TBZ analogs (2, 6a, 6b) and ¹⁸F-radiolabeled [¹⁸F]6a and [¹⁸F]6b with eliminated C11b chirality were synthesized and characterized. Competition studies demonstrated that 2, 6a and 6b displayed much lower in vivo VMAT2 bindings than TBZ. MicroPET imaging studies of [¹⁸F]6a and [¹⁸F]6b showed negligible accumulation in VMAT2-enriched regions as compared with the known VMAT2 ligand ¹⁸F-FP-(+)-DTBZ. These results suggest that C11b chirality of TBZ analogs is essential for in vivo VMAT2 binding bioactivity.     

Radiolysis products and degradation mechanism studies on di-1-methyl heptyl methyl phosphonate

Di-1-methyl heptyl methyl phosphonate (DMHMP) is a promising alternative extractant for Th-U fuel reprocessing, in which the irradiation stability of extractant should be systematically studied. In this paper, the radiolysis products of DMHMP were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively with gas and ion chromatograph, the possible radiolysis mechanism of DMHMP was also concluded. Moreover, the effect of structure on the radiolysis products and irradiation stability of neutral organophosphorus compound extractant was also discussed.
