Chlorine bridging in radicals from 1-(chloro-1,2,5-trimethyl-1-silacyclopentane

Radical chlorination in the 2-position of the isomers of 1-chloro-1,2,6-trimethyl-1-silacyclopentane displays a stereo-specificity consistent with the incursion of 1,2-chloro bridged intermediates.     

Loss Estimation for Spherically Symmetrical Distributions

In this paper we consider the problem of estimating the quadratic loss of point estimators of a location parameter for a family of spherically symmetric distributions. We compare the unbiased loss estimator of the minimax estimator with a new shrinkage type loss estimator. Conditions on the distributions for the domination of competing estimators are given. It is shown that, in addition to the class of scale mixtures of normal distributions, there exists a more general family for which the domination results hold.     

Two-body hypercharge-exchange reactions in K−p and π+p interactions at 10 and 16 GeV/c

Cross-section values or upper limits are presented for twenty-five two-body hypercharge-exchange reactions in K^?p and π⁺p interactions at 10 and 16 GeV/c. The 16 GeV/c results are compared with some predictions of line-reversal plus exchange-degenerate Regge poles, of SU(3) and of the additive quark model. Agreement is found in all cases.     

1H, 13C and 29Si NMR spectra of allylic trimethylsilanes

Chemical shift and scalar coupling constant data have been obtained for the ¹H, ¹³C and ²⁹Si nuclei in allyl, methally, cis- and trans-crotyl, cis-2-methyl-2-butenyl and 3-methyl-2-butenyl derivatives of trimethylsilane.     

Improved deuterium bromide 1-0 band molecular constants from heterodyne frequency measurements

Heterodyne frequency measurements have been made on selected deuterium bromide 1-0 band transitions ranging from P(20) to R(17). Difference frequency beat notes between a tunablediode laser whose frequency was locked to the DBr absorption lines and a CO laser whose frequency was either locked or adjusted to a reference synthesized from CO₂ laser frequency standards were measured. The beat note frequency was then combined with the measured CO laser frequency to give the DBr frequency. For two of the measurements, frequency-doubled CO₂ laser radiation was substituted for the CO laser radiation. The measurements included electric quadrupole split triplets comprising the R(0) and P(1) transitions in the D⁷⁹Br isotope. New DBr constants have been determined, and a table of frequencies is presented for the calibration of spectrometers and tunable lasers in the wavenumber range 1600 to 1990 cm^?1. A table of far-infrared frequencies is also given for DBr covering the range from 50 to 206 cm^?1.
