One-pot synthesis of dihydropyrimidiones catalyzed by strontium(II) triflate under solvent-free conditions

A simple, efficient and practical procedure for the Biginelli reaction using strontium(II) triflate [Sr(OTf)₂] as a novel catalyst is described under solvent-free conditions in high yields. The catalyst exhibited remarkable reactivity and it is reusable. Some of dihydropyrimidiones showed strong pesticidal activity.     

Global existence and decay of solution for the nonisentropic Euler–Maxwell system with a nonconstant background density

In this paper, the Cauchy problem for the nonisentropic Euler–Maxwell system with a nonconstant background density is studied. The global existence of classical solution is constructed in three space dimensions provided the initial perturbation is sufficiently small. The proof is mainly based on classical energy estimate and the techniques of symmetrizer. And the time decay of the solution is also established by combining the decay estimate of the Green’s function with some time-weighted estimate.     

The Broadwell model with a subsonic boundary

In this paper, we focus on the time-asymptotic behavior of an initial boundary value problem (IBVP) for the Broadwell model with a subsonic physical boundary. By using the Green’s function for the initial problem established in [C.-Y. Lan, H.-E. Lin, S.-H. Yu, The Green’s functions for the Broadwell model in half space problem, Netw. Heterog. Media 1 (1) (2006)] and the weighted energy estimates, we construct the Green’s function for IBVP and show that the solution converges pointwise to the equilibrium state when the perturbations are sufficiently small.

Local well-posedness of a new integrable equation

In this article we focus on the local-in-time well-posedness of the Cauchy problem for a new integrable equation. We proved the local-in-time existence and uniqueness of the entropy solutions by using the method of the vanishing viscosity and L¹$L^1$-contraction property.     

Quantification of vestibular-induced eye movements in zebrafish larvae

Background  

Vestibular reflexes coordinate movements or sensory input with changes in body or head position. Vestibular-evoked responses that involve the extraocular muscles include the vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR), a compensatory eye movement to stabilize retinal images. Although an angular VOR attributable to semicircular canal stimulation was reported to be absent in free-swimming zebrafish larvae, recent studies reveal that vestibular-induced eye movements can be evoked in zebrafish larvae by both static tilts and dynamic rotations that tilt the head with respect to gravity.     

Decay of a model system of radiating gas

This paper concerns the Cauchy problem of a model system to the radiating gas in . Large time behaviors of classical solutions to the Cauchy problem are studied without needing the smallness assumption of initial perturbation in L¹‐norm. We obtain the optimal H^N‐norm time‐decay rates of the solutions in with 1 ≤ n ≤ 4 by applying the Fourier splitting method introduced by Schonbek (1980) with a slight modification and an energy method. Furthermore, when initial perturbation is bounded in L^p‐norm (p ∈ (1,2]), optimal L^p‐ L² decay estimates of the derivatives of solutions are shown. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Highly stereoselective imidazolethiones mediated Friedel–Crafts alkylation of indole derivatives

The asymmetric Friedel–Crafts alkylation of indoles with α,β-unsaturated aldehydes was promoted by the novel imidazolethiones to afford the corresponding adducts in moderate to excellent yields and high enantioselectivities under mild reaction conditions.
