The micro construction of poly(epsilon-caprolactone) (PCL) and poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) blend films fabricated by solution casting under microwave irradiation was investigated by selective enzymatic degradation and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results were totally different from the blends obtained by conventional methods. The blend was more homogeneous and the PCL continuous phase more compact as no spherulites and tiny zone separation were observed from the film surface and no PCL network was observed inside the film, and the degradation of a PCL plank by Pseudomonas lipase was significantly retarded. The distributed PLLA micro spheres were enlarged and amorphous. The thermal behavior of the blend by microwave heating revealed that PCL and PLLA underwent a melting process, which induced the variations of the PCL phase and PLLA spheres. The weight loss caused by degradation of the PCL/PLLA blend obtained by conventional methods (B50c) is greater than that of the blend obtained by microwave methods (B50m), which reflects the change in morphology from a loose PCL network (B50c) to a dense PCL plank (B50m). 相似文献

The purpose of this investigation is to try and understand the degree of arsenic poisoning in the waste water from agricultural chemical factories which release effluents into the waterways in their vicinity. The method of determination is to use the water samples, soil, fish, clams, shell-fish, etc. found in the areas along the canals and aqueducts and those which lie upstream, midstream, and downstream and also the hair samples of people living in the contiguous areas, to check for the levels of arsenic in them by emission spectroscopy. From the analysis during a one year investigation, we find that the level of As in the water creatures of Chungkang Stream and Lu-Er-Men Stream is much higher than in the other water areas of Taiwan such as along beaches and the other rivers; the levels in the hair of the people who live nearby these water courses have a certain degree of correspondence with their eating habits and the quantity of food eaten; however, even those people who eat relatively little have almost 3% As, beyond the 2 mg/kg limit allowed for human beings. We are fully aware of the high level of food contamination on Taiwan, and this fact has been taken into consideration. The effect of As contamination in the soil on agricultural produce does not seem to have any apparent relationship. The synthesis of norvancomycin (NVan)-capped silver nanoparticles (Ag@NVan) and their notable in vitro antibacterial activities against E. coli, a Gram-negative bacterial strain (GNB), are reported here. Mercaptoacetic acid-stabilized spherical silver nanoparticles
with a diameter of 16±4 nm are prepared by a simple chemical reaction. The formation process of the silver nanoparticles is
investigated by UV-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). NVan is then grafted to the terminal
carboxyl of the mercaptoacetic acid in the presence of N-(3-Dimethylaminopropyl)-N′-ethylcarbodiimide hydrochloride (EDAC). The TEM images of single bacteria treated with Ag@NVan show that plenty of Ag@NVan
aggregate in the cell wall of E. coli. A possible antibacterial mechanism is proposed that silver nanoparticles may help destroy the stability of the outer membrane
of E. coli, which makes NVan easier to bind to the nether part of the peptidoglycan structure. The antibacterial activities of silver
nanoparticles on their own, together with the rigid polyvalent interaction between Ag@NVan and cell wall, enables Ag@NVan
to be an effective inhibitor of GNB. This kind of bionanocomposites might be used as novel bactericidal materials and we also
provide an effective synthesis method for preparing functional bioconjugated nanoparticles here.

An on-line and fully automated method was developed for the continuous and dynamic in vivo monitoring of four arsenic species [arsenite (AsIII), arsenate (AsV), monomethylarsonic acid (MMA) and dimethylarsinic acid (DMA)] in urine of living organisms. In this method a microdialysis sampling technique was employed to couple on-line with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry (HGAAS). Dialysates perfused through implanted microdialysis probes were collected with a sample loop of an on-line injector for direct and automated injection into HPLC system hyphenated with HGAAS. The saline (0.9% NaCl) solution was perfused at the rate of 1 microl min(-1) through the microdialysis probe and the dialysate was loaded into 50 microl of sample loop. The separation conditions were optimally selected to be in phosphate buffer solution at a pH 5.2 with a flow rate of 1.2 ml min(-1). The effluent from the HPLC was first mixed on-line at the exit of the column with HCl (1 M) solution and then mixed with a NaBH4 (0.2% m/v) solution. Based on the optimal conditions obtained, linear ranges of 2.5-50 ng ml(-1) for AsIII and 6.75-100 ng ml(-1) for the other three arsenic species were obtained. Detection limits of 1.00, 2.18, 1.03 and 2.17 ng ml(-1) were obtained for AsIII, DMA, MMA and AsV, respectively. Typical precision values of 3.4% (AsIII), 5.4% (DMA), 3.6% (MMA) and 7.5% (AsV) were obtained, respectively, at a 25 ng ml(-1) level. Recoveries close to 100%, relative to an aqueous standard, were observed for each species. The average in vivo recoveries of AsIII, DMA, MMA and AsV in rat bladder urine were 56+/-5%, 60+/-9%, 49+/-3% and 55+/-7%, respectively. The use of an on-line microdialysis-HPLC-HGAAS system permitted the determination of four urinary arsenic species in the bladder of an anesthetized rat with a temporal resolution of 50 min sampling. 相似文献

Coprecipitation first with magnesium hydroxide, next with tin(IV) hydroxide is developed for the determination of traces of beryllium in sea-water. To a 200-ml sample is added a sodium hydroxide solution to form magnesium hydroxide at pH 11.5, on which beryllium is quantitatively coprecipitated. The precipitate is separated by centrifugation and dissolved in 2 ml of 12 mol/l hydrochloric acid. The resulting solution (ca. 10 ml) is mixed with 2 mg of tin (IV) carrier and the pH is adjusted to 5.0 to collect the beryllium on tin (IV) hydroxide, leaving magnesium ions in the solution. The tin (IV) hydroxide is centrifuged, dissolved in 0.1 ml of 5 mol/l hydrobromic acid, and then diluted to 1 ml with water. Magnesium is so added as to be 500 g/ml for increasing the sensitivity about four times, and the beryllium in the solution is determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. The experiments with synthetic seawater samples showed that pg — g amounts of beryllium can be coprecipitated on the metal hydroxides and beryllium at the low ng/1 level can be determined with reasonable precision (RSD < 10%).
