Characterization of palm distributions and infinitely divisible random measures

The purpose of the present paper is to characterize Campbell measures and Palm distributions of random measures and to apply these results in a new approach to the characterizations of infinitely divisible random measures by their Laplace functionals and their Palm distributions. The results on infinitely divisible random measures are well known. They can be found together with a detailed list of references in Kallenberg's monograph [2], which also contains proofs of almost all statements in Section 1 of this paper (see his note on page 9 concerning the Polish space setting).

Multi-nucleon transfer near the coulomb barrier induced by 32S and 34S

Neutron excess targets of ⁷⁶Ge, ^92,94,96Zr and ¹⁰⁰Mo have been bombarded with ³²S and ³⁴S at beam energies around the Coulomb barrier. Multi-nucleon transfer reactions involving 3p, 4p, 3pn, 4pn (projectile → target) and 3n, 4n, 6n (target → projectile) have been observed by measuring the corresponding back-scattered radioactive products like ²⁹Al, ²⁸Mg, ²⁸Al, ²⁷Mg, ³⁷S and ³⁸S. In some cases excitation functions and angular distributions have been measured.

The Riemann–Hilbert problem and the generalized Neumann kernel on multiply connected regions

This paper presents and studies Fredholm integral equations associated with the linear Riemann–Hilbert problems on multiply connected regions with smooth boundary curves. The kernel of these integral equations is the generalized Neumann kernel. The approach is similar to that for simply connected regions (see [R. Wegmann, A.H.M. Murid, M.M.S. Nasser, The Riemann–Hilbert problem and the generalized Neumann kernel, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 182 (2005) 388–415]). There are, however, several characteristic differences, which are mainly due to the fact, that the complement of a multiply connected region has a quite different topological structure. This implies that there is no longer perfect duality between the interior and exterior problems.     

Static viscosity of nuclear matter

The static shear viscosity η₀ of symmetric nuclear matter is estimated. It is found, that for reasonable nuclear temperatures the mean free path connected with η_o is considerably larger than the nuclear radii. We therefore conclude, that the concept of viscosity cannot be applied to nuclear fission and heavy ion collisions without taking into account the nuclear surface.
