Polymorphisme du tetrachloro-1,2,4,5 benzene et du tetrabromo-1,2,4,5 benzene

Combination of three techniques of thermal analysis (hot stage polarising microscope, DSC, Guinier-Lenne) enabled the determination of the polymorphic behaviour of tetra 1,2,4,5-X benzene (X=Cl, Br). Thermal, calorimetric and crystallographic characterizations have been carried out. This study puts forward an interesting problem: theβ phase (P2₁/a, stable at room temperature) of the tetra chlorobenzene has similar arrangement to the two solid piases P2₁/a of tetra bromobenzene. Which one of these two forms is actually isomorphic with tetra chlorobenzene.     

Synthesis and antiallergic activity of N-[4-(4-diphenylmethyl-1-piperazinyl)butyl]-1,4-dihydro-4-oxopyridine-3 - carboxamides

A new series of oxopyridinecarboxamide derivatives 3a--g and 5a were synthesized and evaluated for their antiallergic activity. 1,4-Dihydro-7-methyl-4-oxo-1,8-naphthyridine-3-carboxamides 3a and 5a exhibited potent antiallergic activity (inhibitory rates of 80.7 and 88.3%, respectively, at 20 mg/kg, p.o.) in the rat passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA) test and also exhibited much more potent in vitro inhibitory activity than caffeic acid against the enzyme 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO). Their in vitro antihistamine activity, however, was weaker than that of ketotifen. Compounds 3a and 5a are viewed as promising candidates for antiallergic agents.     

Preparation and application of selenite ion selective electrode

A new selenite ion selective electrode using 4,6-dibromopiaselenole as active material, PVC as membrane matrix and dibutyl phthalate as plasticizer has been developed. An analytically useful potential change occurs from about 10(-6)-10(-1)M Se(IV), and the slope of the linear portion is -23.6 mV/10-fold change in Se(IV) concentration at a temperature of 21 degrees . The electrode shows fairly good selectivity for selenite ion over other anions and has been used for the successful determination of total selenium in human hair.     

Influence of isosorbide dinitrate concentration on its skin permeability from adhesive matrix devices.

Adhesive matrix devices containing a model drug, isosorbide dinitrate (ISDN), were prepared with three different types of pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs). ISDN permeation through excised hairless rat skin from the different devices was measured in vitro. For each PSA type, the steady state permeation rate of ISDN increased proportionally with an increase of ISDN concentration in the PSA and reached a maximum level at a certain concentration. Although the concentrations reaching the maximum skin permeation level varied among PSA types, the maximum rate for each PSA type was largely similar to that for ISDN aqueous suspension. The release rate of ISDN from devices was too fast to influence the skin permeation rate for all devices. In the PSA of devices showing maximum skin permeability, ISDN crystalline was observed by polarizing microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. These results suggest that the skin permeation of ISDN from adhesive matrix devices was controlled by the thermodynamic activity of the drug in the PSAs.     

Cisplatin suppository: preparation, release characteristics and clinical evaluation

Cisplatin (CDDP) has attracted attention as a chemotherapeutic agent for the treatment of uterine endometrial carcinoma but causes serious side effects, including renal toxicity. CDDP suppositories containing NaCl at different concentrations were prepared to enhance the efficacy and to reduce the side effects of CDDP. The release characteristics, melting point and viscosity of the suppositories were first studied. The rate of CDDP release increased as the NaCl concentration increased: it was 12% 12 h after administration of suppositories containing no NaCl, but 32% with 0.2% NaCl. The melting point was raised by addition of NaCl: 35.5 degrees C without NaCl and 36.5 degrees C with 0.2% NaCl. Addition of 0.2% NaCl doubled the viscosity. Clinically, the suppository containing 0.06% NaCl was given to 3 patients with endometrial carcinoma twice a week for 3 weeks to examine serum CDDP levels and endometrial absorption. Patients with endometrial carcinoma showed different peak plasma platinum (Pt) levels which were as low as 0.12, 0.06 and 0.22 micrograms Pt/ml with similar patterns of change in the level. Radiographic analysis revealed many Pt particles in sections of necrosed endometria after 21d of the treatment. No side effects of CDDP were found in biochemical testing or subjective symptoms.     

Tritium separation from heavy water by electrolysis with solid polymer electrolyte

A tritium separation from heavy water by electrolysis using a solid polymer electrode layer was specified. The cathode was made of stainless steel or nickel. The electrolysis was performed for 1 hour at 5, 10, 20, and 30 °C. Using a palladium catalyst, generated hydrogen and oxygen gases were recombined, which was collected with a cold trap. The activities of the samples were measured by a liquid scintillation counter. The apparent tritium separation factors of the heavy and light water at 20 °C were 2 and 12, respectively.     

Organosoluble and transparent polyimides derived from alicyclic dianhydride and aromatic diamines

Organosoluble polyimides were synthesized with the alicyclic dianhydride 1,8‐dimethylbicyclo[2,2,2]oct‐7‐ene‐2,3,5,6‐tetracarboxylic dianhydride and aromatic diamines. The polyimides possessed good solubility both in strong dipolar solvents and in common solvents; the thermal decomposition temperature of the polyimides exceeded 420 °C. Strong and flexible films of the polyimides, with the cutoff of ultraviolet–visible absorption lower than 310–320 nm, exhibited good features as the alignment layers for nematic liquid crystals with pretilt angles of 1.5–2.9°. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Derivatives of 2,4-diamino-6-methylpteridine

Eighteen derivatives of 2,4-diamino-6-methylpteridine related to methotrexate and aminopterin have been prepared from 6-(bromomethyl)-2,4-pteridinediamine by nucleophilic displacement reactions. None of these compounds showed any antileukemic acitivity.     

Microanalysis of Si,S and Zn in GaSb by use of direct observation of (p,p′γ) reactions

The use of direct observation of nuclear reactions (p,p′γ) is discussed. The main characteristics of this method are presented and applied to the case of the miroanalysis of Si, S and Zn in GaSb.
