We use 106 pb (-1) of data collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab to search for narrow-width, vector particles decaying to a top and an antitop quark. Model independent upper limits on the cross section for narrow, vector resonances decaying to t&tmacr; are presented. At the 95% confidence level, we exclude the existence of a leptophobic Z' boson in a model of top-color-assisted technicolor with mass M(Z')<480 GeV/c(2) for natural width gamma = 0.012M(Z'), and M(Z')<780 GeV/c(2) for gamma = 0.04M(Z'). 相似文献

We report the results of a search for second and third generation leptoquarks using 88 pb(-1) of data recorded by the Collider Detector at Fermilab. Color triplet technipions, which play the role of scalar leptoquarks, are investigated due to their potential production in decays of strongly coupled color octet technirhos. Events with a signature of two heavy flavor jets and missing energy may indicate the decay of a second (third) generation leptoquark to a charm (bottom) quark and a neutrino. The necessity for polarization-tensors of higher order than the 2×2 polarization matrix is clearly demonstrated, by considering two inequivalent situations arising from the superposition of two constant-amplitude beams with a random phase difference between them. The partially- and unpolarized fields from the superposition of two circularly polarized beams show no anisotropy in intensity fluctuations when viewed by a plane-polarized detector. This is not the case for the partially- and even the unpolarized beam formed from two plane-polarized beams. The structure functions of a real photon are calculable in QCD. The leading contribution is proportional to 1n Q2, with a coefficient reflecting the gluon flux in a real photon. We investigate this leading term for non-zero target photon mass. In an appropriate limit the gluon content in a virtual photon is found to vanish. The gluon radiative corrections of QCD can thus be turned off by tuning the target photon mass. 相似文献

A non-dispersive atomic fluorescence spectrophotometer was built and tested for the determination of those elements that form volatile hydrides. The instrument design is compatible with simultaneous multiple element analysis for those elements that can be determined as their hydride. As little as 0.1 to 0.2 ng of Se, As, Bi and Sb was detected and this is typically 10-fold better than the reported hydride detection limits by atomic absorption. This paper is concerned with the dynamic response of a class of thermoviscoelastic solids. In particular a specific one-dimensional model, consistent with the laws of continuum thermodynamics, is proposed and applied to the problem of the propagation of steady shock waves. The governing equations are written in terms of material response functions which can be determined from shock wave, thermophysical, and bulk response data. The parton model predicts a jet structure for e+e? annihilation into hadrons. This is obscured at low energies by the presence of finite transverse momentum effects. We suggest studying e++e? → h1+h2+X, where at least one hadron is near the kinematical boundary; this defines a jet axis.
