Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of pentafluorobenzenethiol (PFBT) on Au(111) substrates, prepared with different immersion times (ITs) at room temperature, were studied using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and infrared reflection-absorption spectroscopy (IRRAS). In the present study, the focus was on several important points of interest in the field of SAMs. First, the gold islands formed upon adsorption of PFBT molecules on the gold surface were monitored at different ITs in terms of their size, density, and shape. After short ITs (5 to 30 min), small gold islands with rounded shape were formed. These gold islands were arranged in a rather regular fashion and found to be quite mobile under the influence of the STM-tip during the scanning. When the IT was increased to 16 h, the results revealed the formation of highly ordered and orientated gold islands with very unusual shapes with straight edges meeting at 60° or 120° running preferentially along the [11(-)0] substrate directions. The density of the gold islands was found to decrease with increasing IT until they almost disappeared from the SAMs prepared after 190 h of IT. On top of the gold islands, the PFBT molecules were found to adopt the closely packed (10√3 × 2) structure. Second, a number of structural defects such as disordered regions at the domain boundaries and dark row(s) of molecules within the ordered domains of the PFBT SAMs were observed at different ITs. The SAMs prepared after 190 h of IT were found to be free of these defects. Third, at low and moderate ITs, a variation in the PFBT molecular contrast was observed. This contrast variation was found to depend mainly on the tunneling parameters. Finally, our results revealed that the organization process of PFBT SAMs is IT-dependent. Consequently, a series of structural phases, namely, α, β, γ, δ, and ε were found. The α-, β-, γ-, and δ-phases were typically accompanied by the ε-phase that appeared on top of gold islands. With increasing IT, the α→β→ γ→δ→ε phase transitions took place. The resulting ε-phase, which covered the entire gold surface after 190 h of IT, yielded well-ordered self-assembled monolayers with large domains having a (10√3 × 2) superlattice structure.  相似文献

A directional point‐to‐point growth of microwires of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) self‐organized on Aspergillus niger (A. niger) templates by utilizing positive phototropic fungal response to different spectral ranges of visible light is reported. A. niger serves as a living template for the self‐organization of monosodium glutamate (MSG) capped gold colloids under controlled nutrient trigger and appropriate light, temperature, and humidity conditions. The experimental results show that control of these parameters eliminates the need for any microchannels for the directional growth of microwires. The growth rate of fungal hyphae increases exponentially under light illumination compared to its growth in the dark under similar conditions. White light is found to be most suitable to trigger the directional growth. Gold microwires of about 1 to 2 μm diameter and length exceeding 1 mm are grown within a week with a maximum divergence of 40–50° from the light path regardless of the wavelength of the light irradiation. Phototropic response of fungi has been investigated intensively over the last three decades, but this is the first report on the collective use of microbial tropism and directed biomimetic self‐organization of metallic nanoparticles on living organisms.  相似文献

A method was developed that offers a rapid, simple and accurate technique for the determination of chlorophenols at trace levels in aqueous samples with very limited volumes of organic solvents. These compounds were acetylated, then preliminarily extracted with n-hexane. The enriched chlorophenols were directly analyzed using gas chromatography with an electron-capture detector. The detection limits were in the range of 0.001-0.005 mg/L, except for 2-chlorophenol, which was always above 0.013 mg/L. Relative standard deviation for the spiked water samples ranged from 2.2 to 6.1%, while relative recoveries were in the range of 67.1 to 101.3%.  相似文献

In this study, we demonstrated a novel fabrication method of three dimensional nanoporous gold thin film (NPGF) onto gold (Au) substrate using electrochemical deposition method. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) investigation reveals the formation of highly-ordered pores, approximately 30 nm in diameter and 150 nm thick. The NPGF-modified electrode shows a linear range (0.1–40 μM) for dopamine detection in the presence of ascorbic acid. The electrochemical measurements of mixtures of dopamine, ascorbic acid, and uric acid in human serum sample for real sample applications was also investigated based on differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) technique. These high sensitivity and selectivity features of the proposed NPGF biosensor offer great promise for real sample biosensor application.  相似文献

The recalcitrance of lignocellulosic biomass to enzymatic release of sugars (saccharification) currently limits its use as feedstock for biofuels. Enzymatic hydrolysis of untreated aspen wood releases only 21.8% of the available sugars due primarily to the lignin barrier. Nature uses oxidative enzymes to selectively degrade lignin in lignocellulosic biomass, but thus far, natural enzymes have been too slow for industrial use. In this study, oxidative pretreatment with commercial peracetic acid (470 mM) removed 40% of the lignin (from 19.9 to 12.0 wt.% lignin) from aspen and enhanced the sugar yields in subsequent enzymatic hydrolysis to about 90%. Increasing the amount of lignin removed correlated with increasing yields of sugar release. Unfortunately, peracetic acid is expensive, and concentrated forms can be hazardous. To reduce costs and hazards associated with using commercial peracetic acid, we used a hydrolase to catalyze the perhydrolysis of ethyl acetate generating 60–70 mM peracetic acid in situ as a pretreatment to remove lignin from aspen wood. A single pretreatment was insufficient, but multiple cycles (up to eight) removed up to 61.7% of the lignin enabling release of >90% of the sugars during saccharification. This value corresponds to a predicted 581 g of fermentable sugars from 1 kg of aspen wood. Improvements in the enzyme stability are needed before the enzymatically generated peracetic acid is a commercially viable alternative.  相似文献

The stability analysis of the adaptation process, performed by the filtered-x least mean square algorithm on weights of active noise controllers, has not been fully investigated. The main contribution of this paper is conducting a theoretical stability analysis for this process without utilizing commonly used simplifying assumptions regarding the secondary electro-acoustic channel. The core of this analysis is based on the root locus theory. The general rules for constructing the root locus plot of the adaptation process are derived by obtaining root locus parameters, including start points, end points, asymptote lines, and breakaway points. The conducted analysis leads to the derivation of a general upper-bound for the adaptation step-size beyond which the mean weight vector of the active noise controller becomes unstable. Also, this analysis yields the optimum step-size for which the adaptive active noise controller has its fastest dynamic performance. The proposed upper-bound and optimum values apply to general secondary electro-acoustic channels, unlike the commonly used ones which apply to only pure delay channels. The results are found to agree very well with those obtained from numerical analyses and computer simulation experiments.  相似文献

Cobalt hydroxide ultra fine nanowires were prepared by a facile hydrothermal route using hydrogen peroxide. This method provides a simple, low cost, and large-scale route to produce β-cobalt hydroxide nanowires with an average diameter of 5 nm and a length of ca. 10 μm, which show a predominant well-crystalline hexagonal brucite-like phase. Their thermal decomposition produced highly uniform nanowires of cobalt oxide (Co3O4) under temperature 500 °C in the presence of oxygen gas. The produced cobalt oxide was characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electronic microscopy, and selected-area electron diffraction. The results indicated that cobalt oxide nanowires with an average diameter of 10 nm and a length of ca. 600 nm have been formed, which show a predominant well-crystalline cubic face-centered like phase.  相似文献

Cobalt oxide (Co3O4) nanoplatelet shape like nanostructures have been successfully synthesized through a simple microwave route for the first time using cobalt acetate, NaOH and citric acid at 200 °C for 30 min. The structure and morphology of as-prepared Co3O4 nanoplatelets are characterized by means of powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FTIR), and scanning electron microscope (SEM). XRD measurements indicate that the product has a perfect crystalline cubic phase of Co3O4 with a lattice constant a=8.082 Å. The SEM images show that the obtained Co3O4 nanopowder consists of nanoplatelets with diameter 125 nm and thickness 20 nm. Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) show that the composition of Co3O4 is stoichiometric. Room temperature photoluminescence measurement is exhibited by a strong UV emission and a suppressed green emission, confirming the good optical properties for the as-prepared Co3O4 nanoplatelets.  相似文献

Pressure, density, temperature (p, ρ, T) data of 1-butyl-3-methylpyridinium tetrafluoroborate [C4mpyr][BF4] at T = (283.15 to 393.15) K and pressures up to p = 100 MPa are reported with an estimated experimental relative combined standard uncertainty of Δρ/ρ = ±(0.01 to 0.08)% in density. The measurements were carried out with a newly constructed Anton-Paar DMA HPM vibration-tube densimeter. The system was calibrated using double-distilled water, methanol, toluene and aqueous NaCl solutions. An empirical equation of state for fitting of the (p, ρ, T) data of [C4mpyr][BF4] has been developed as a function of pressure and temperature to calculate the thermal properties of the ionic liquid (IL), such as isothermal compressibility, isobaric thermal expansibility, differences in isobaric and isochoric heat capacities, thermal pressure coefficient and internal pressure. Internal pressure and the temperature coefficient of internal pressure data were used to make conclusions on the molecular characteristics of the IL.  相似文献
