The intermetallic PdGa is a highly selective and potent catalyst in the semihydrogenation of acetylene, which is attributed to the surface stability and isolated Pd atom ensembles. In this context PdGa single crystals of form B with (111) orientation were investigated by means of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS), scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), X-ray photoelectron diffraction (XPD), and low-energy electron diffraction (LEED) to study the electronic and geometric properties of this surface. UPS and thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS) were used to probe the chemisorption behavior of CO. The PdGa(111) surface exhibits a (1 × 1) LEED and a pronounced XPD pattern indicating an unreconstructed bulk-truncated surface. Low-temperature STM reveals a smooth surface with a (1 × 1) unit cell. No segregation occurs, and no impurities are detected by XPS. The electronic structure and the CO adsorption properties reveal PdGa(111) to be a bulk-truncated intermetallic compound with Pd-Ga partial covalent bonding. 相似文献

The realization of sustainable and cheap Mg-S batteries depends on significant improvements in cycling stability. Building on the immense research on cathode optimization from Li-S batteries, for the first time a beneficial role of MXenes for Mg-S batteries is reported. Through a facile, low-temperature vacuum-filtration technique, several novel current collector- and binder-free cathode films were developed, with either dipenthamethylene thiuram tetrasulfide (PMTT) or S8 nanoparticles as the source of redox-active sulfur. The importance of combining MXene with a high surface area co-host material, such as carbon nanotubes, was demonstrated. A positive effect of MXenes on the average voltage and reduced self-discharge was also discovered. Ascribed to the rich polar surface chemistry of Ti3C2Tx MXene, an almost doubling of the discharge capacity (530 vs. 290 mA h g−1) was achieved by using MXene as a polysulfide-confining interlayer, obtaining a capacity retention of 83 % after 25 cycles. 相似文献

Long linear carbon chains are attracting intense interest arising from their remarkable properties, such as the tunable direct energy gap, the high mechanical hardness, and the high Raman response cross section, which would play a great role in their potential applications in future nanotechnology. Here the excitonic transitions and the associated relaxation dynamics of nanotube confined long linear carbon chains are comprehensively interrogated by using steady state and time-resolved Raman spectroscopies. The exciton relaxation dynamics of the confined carbon chains occurs on a hundred of picoseconds timescale, in strong contrast to the host dynamics that occurs on a few picoseconds’ timescale. A prominent time-resolved Raman response is observed over a broad energy range extending from 1.2 to 2.8 eV, which includes the strong Raman resonance region around 2.2 eV. Strong coupling between the chain and the nanotube host is found from the dynamics at high excitation energies which provides clear evidence for an efficient energy transfer from the host carbon nanotube to the chain. The experimental study presents the first unique characterization of the long linear carbon chain exciton dynamics, providing indispensable knowledge for the understanding of the interactions between different carbon allotropes. 相似文献

The paper describes a new single-beam thermowave technique based on a two-frequency modulation of the laser beam used for both excitation and detection of the photothermal response in a sample. This technique provides frequency transformation to the low-frequency region and, to a certain degree, phase sensitivity without applying the lock-in detection method. This single-beam technique is proved to yield substantial evidence in the field of laser annealing of semiconductors such as the annealing threshold, the defects generated by the ultrafast solidification and the homogeneity of the laser beam applied for irradiation. 相似文献
