π-Electron ring currents and magnetic shielding in oxygen-containing unsaturated heterosystems

A procedure developed previously for the calculation of molecular magnetic characteristics has been applied to calculations of diamagnetic susceptibilities and the chemical shifts of protons and ¹³C nuclei of oxygen-containing heterocycles. The results are in accord with experimental data. Effect of structural factors on the reversible 1,5-diketone — Hydroxydihydropyran conversion

N-acylphosphatidylethanolamine in the fish brain

It has been shown that a minor phospholipid isolated from the brain of the mackerelHexagrammos octogrammus is a N-acylphosphatidylethanolamine a considerble part of which is present in the plasmalogen form. Study of the effect of annelation on the rearrangement of 1,2-dialkylpyridinium salts by the MO LCAO self-consistent field (SCF) method

The anhydro bases formed from 1,2-dialkylquinolinium (I), 1,2-dialkylisoquinolinium (II), and 2,3-dialkylisoquinolinium (III) salts were calculated within the framework of the π-electron approximation of the MO LCAO self-consistent field (SCF) method. It is shown that, in contrast to II and III, I does not undergo recyclization; annelation of the pyridine ring facilitates recyclization. The recyclization indexes are linked with the aromatic character of the pyridine ring and increase as the aromatic character decreases. Features of the resonant interaction of moving neutral atoms and clusters with superlattice surface

Features of the interaction of moving neutral atoms, molecules, and clusters with a superlattice field (for example, the system of linear magnetic and electric domains) are considered. It is shown that the character of the particle motion depends on the ratio of the frequency ω₂₁ of the internal electromagnetic resonance to the bounce frequency Ω _s determined by the superlattice period, the velocity of the particle motion, and the possible moments of the particle in the ground d ₁₁ and excited d ₂₂ states. The conditions for regimes of attraction and repulsion of particles by the superlattice are considered. The preconditions for formation of a one-dimensional potential well located far from the superlattice and for stable channeling of neutral and charged particles in this well are also considered. Depending on the ratio of ω₂₁ to Ω _s , particle sorting and beam separation occur during interaction of the multicomponent beam consisting of different particles with the superlattice field.

Generation of X-rays at bubble cavitation in a fast liquid jet in dielectric channels

The paper presents the results of studying the combined shock-wave radiation-emission processes associated with cavitation phenomena that occur at fast directional motion of a liquid jet into a closed working chamber through narrow dielectric channels. These processes induce high-power tunable X-ray radiation outside the chamber. At a relatively small liquid pressure, cavitation has been shown to generate shock waves in the chamber walls, which excites surface atoms and leads to the emission of X-rays from the outer surface of the chamber. At a high liquid pressure, the liquid jet does not touch the chamber walls and the cavitational shock waves lead to the excitation of the surface atoms of the jet itself accompanied by the generation of optical and X-ray radiation in the jet, which has been also observed in experiments.
