A prototype case study is presented that examines the level of hydrogen content in H-SWNTs using the Surface Plasmon Resonance technique. The damping effect and the angular shift in the resonance minimum of an SWNT-gold interface due to the presence of hydrogen is analyzed using a parametric model, which is based on the concept of an effective permittivity. The new approach provides for a non-invasive analysis of the level of hydrogen content in H-SWNTs and is potentially extendable to other carbon-based hydrogen storage materials.  相似文献

Reaction of sodium azide with 4-methyl-3,5,6-tribromopyridazine results in the formation of 3,5,6-triazide intermediate which could cyclise to give two possible bicyclic products while ab initio calculations show that the formation of a tricyclic compound is extremely energetically unfavourable. However, experimentally, only one major product is isolated. The structure of this unstable product has been conclusively established by X-ray crystallography as 3,5-diazido-4-methyl[1,5-b]tetrazolopyridazine confirming theoretical predictions.  相似文献

Using Transition-State Theory, experimental rate constants, determined over a range of temperatures, for reactions of Vitamin E type antioxidants are analysed in terms of their enthalpies and entropies of activation. It is further shown that computational methods may be employed to calculate enthalpies and entropies, and hence Gibbs free energies, for the overall reactions. Within the linear free energy relationship (LFER) assumption, that the Gibbs free energy of activation is proportional to the overall Gibbs free energy change for the reaction, it is possible to rationalise, and even to predict, the relative contributions of enthalpy and entropy for reactions of interest, involving potential antioxidants. A method is devised, involving a competitive reaction between *CH3 radicals and both the spin-trap PBN and the antioxidant, which enables the relatively rapid determination of a relative ordering of activities for a series of potential antioxidant compounds, and also of their rate constants for scavenging *CH3 radicals (relative to the rate constant for addition of *CH3 to PBN).  相似文献

A new N-benzenesulfonyl-based ionic-liquid mass spectroscopy label (I-Tag2) for covalent attachment to substrates has been prepared. I-Tag2 was used to monitor oligosaccharide elongation and serve as a purification handle. Starting from chemically synthesized I-Tag2-labelled N-acetyl glucosamine (GlcNAc) 1, I-Tag2-LacNAc (Galβ(1-4)GlcNAc) 2 and I-Tag2-Lewis(X) (Galβ(1-4)[Fucα(1-3)]GlcNAc) 3, which are oligosaccharides of biological relevance, were enzymatically prepared. The apparent kinetic parameters for the enzyme catalysed transformations with β-1,4-galactosyltransferase (β-1,4-GalT) and fucosyltransferase VI (FucT VI) were measured by LC-MS demonstrating the applicability and versatility of the new I-Tags in enzymatic transformations with glycosyltransferases.  相似文献

Secondary organic aerosol (SOA) generated from the high-NO(x) photooxidation of isoprene was dissolved in water and irradiated with λ > 290 nm radiation to simulate direct photolytic processing of organics in atmospheric water droplets. High-resolution mass spectrometry was used to characterize the composition at four time intervals (0, 1, 2, and 4 h). Photolysis resulted in the decomposition of high molecular weight (MW) oligomers, reducing the average length of organics by 2 carbon units. The average molecular composition changed significantly after irradiation (C(12)H(19)O(9)N(0.08) + hν → C(10)H(16)O(8)N(0.40)). Approximately 65% by count of SOA molecules decomposed during photolysis, accompanied by the formation of new products. An average of 30% of the organic mass was modified after 4 h of direct photolysis. In contrast, only a small fraction of the mass (<2%), belonging primarily to organic nitrates, decomposed in the absence of irradiation by hydrolysis. Furthermore, the concentration of aromatic compounds increased significantly during photolysis. Approximately 10% (lower limit) of photodegraded compounds and 50% (upper limit) of the photoproducts contain nitrogen. Organic nitrates and multifunctional oligomers were identified as compounds degraded by photolysis. Low-MW 0N (compounds with 0 nitrogen atoms in their structure) and 2N compounds were the dominant photoproducts. Fragmentation experiments using tandem mass spectrometry (MS(n), n = 2-3) indicate that the 2N products are likely heterocyclic/aromatic and are tentatively identified as furoxans. Although the exact mechanism is unclear, these 2N heterocyclic compounds are produced by reactions between photochemically-formed aqueous NO(x) species and SOA organics.  相似文献

The aim of the study was to determine the antifungal effects of the essential oil of Thymus broussonetii Boiss (EOT), an endemic plant in Morocco against Candida albicans, Aspergillus fumigatus and the dermatophytes. EOT was extracted by steam distillation. A suspension of up to 500?μL of C. albicans at a concentration of 10??CFU?mL?1 and A. fumigatus at a concentration of 101??spores?mL?1 were inhibited by 20?μL of EOT incorporated in tubes containing 4 mL of Sabouraud broth. In Sabouraud-chloramphenicol agar slants containing different concentrations of essential oil, 5?×?10? A. fumigatus spores were inhibited by 6?μL (0.0015?mL?mL?1) of the EOT. It has shown good anti-C. albicans and anti-A. fumigatus activity. All the dermatophytes tested were inhibited by 3?μL (0.00075?mL?mL?1) of EOT; the latter has the potential to be a good alternative to the conventional antifungal drugs which are usually expensive and with high toxicity.  相似文献

Trigocherrin A, a chlorinated and highly oxygenated daphnane diterpenoid orthoester (DDO), was isolated from the bark of Trigonostemon cherrieri. Trigocherrin A is the first example of a naturally occurring halogenated DDO. Its structure was elucidated by comprehensive analysis of NMR spectroscopic data, and its absolute configuration was determined by comparison of experimental and theoretically calculated ECD spectra. Trigocherrin A exhibited a potent and selective effect against Chikungunya virus in Vero cells.  相似文献

The geometric structures of neutral and cationic Si(n)Li(m)(0/+) clusters with n = 2-11 and m = 1, 2 are investigated using combined experimental and computational methods. The adiabatic ionization energy and vertical ionization energy (VIE) of Si(n)Li(m) clusters are determined using quantum chemical methods (B3LYP/6-311+G(d), G3B3, and CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVxZ with x = D,T), whereas experimental values are derived from threshold photoionization experiments in the 4.68-6.24 eV range. Among the investigated cluster sizes, only Si(6)Li(2), Si(7)Li, Si(10)Li, and Si(11)Li have ionization thresholds below 6.24 eV and could be measured accurately. The ionization threshold and VIE obtained from the experimental photoionization efficiency curves agree well with the computed values. The growth mechanism of the lithium doped silicon clusters follows some simple rules: (1) neutral singly doped Si(n)Li clusters favor the Li atom addition on an edge or a face of the structure of the corresponding Si(n)(-) anion, while the cationic Si(n)Li(+) binds with one Si atom of the bare Si(n) cluster or adds on one of its edges, and (2) for doubly doped Si(n)Li(2)(0/+) clusters, the neutrals have the shape of the Si(n+1) counterparts with an additional Li atom added on an edge or a face of it, while the cations have both Li atoms added on edges or faces of the Si(n)(-) clusters.  相似文献

Oxanorbornadienedicarboxylate (OND) reagents were explored for purposes of binding and releasing drugs from serum albumins as representative macromolecular carriers. Being highly reactive Michael acceptors, ONDs form adducts with thiols and amines, which then undergo retro-Diels-Alder fragmentation. A study of more than 30 model adducts revealed a number of modifications that can be used to influence adduct stability. For the most reactive OND linkers, the labeling of the single available bovine serum albumin (BSA) cysteine residue was complete within minutes at a mid-micromolar concentration of reactants. While a selectivity of greater than 1000-fold for thiol over amine was observed with model amino acids, the labeling of protein amines with ONDs is fast enough to be practical, as demonstrated by the reaction with thiol-depleted BSA. The OND-amine adducts were found to be up to 15 times more stable than OND-thiol adducts, and to be sensitive to acid by virtue of a stereochemically dependent acceleration of cycloreversion. The release rate of fluorescent cargo from serum albumins was tuned by selecting the coupling partners: the available half-lives ranged from 40 min to 7 days at 37 °C. Such versatility of release profiles from protein carriers, controlled by the nature of the OND linkage, is a useful addition to the drug delivery toolbox.  相似文献
