Low-lying states and separabelized Skyrme interactions

A finite-rank separable approximation for the quasiparticle RPA calculations with Skyrme interactions that was proposed in our previous work is extended to take into account the coupling between one-and two-phonon terms in the wave functions of excited states. It is shown that the phonon-phonon coupling effect can be very important to reproduce experimental data.

First example of the cascade acylation/IMDAV/ene reaction sequence,leading to N-arylbenzo[f]isoindole-4-carboxylic acids possessing anti-viral activity

The reaction between readily accessible N-aryl-3-phenylallylamines and maleic anhydride led to unexpected products – polysubstituted hydrogenated benzo[f]isoindole-4-carboxylic acids. This transformation proceeds through a previously unknown sequence of steps: N-acylation of the allylamine with maleic anhydride, intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction of the vinylarene in the intermediate N-maleamide, and Alder-ene reaction of the products of the previous two steps. Selected benzo[f]isoindoles displayed antiviral activity.     

Formation of oriented structures by laser heating of solid-solid interfaces

Oriented semiconductor structures are produced by laser irradiation of transparent-dielectric—semiconductor interfaces, provided the laser beam intensity is sufficient to melt the semiconductor. The orientation of the structure coincides with that of the initial semiconductor, and does not depend on the orientation of the transparent substrate. Monocrystalline stripes (30 m width) of GaAs and of Ge are formed on sapphire and glass.     

Investigations of vinyl esters of the furan series

The vinyl esters of trans--(2-furyl) acrylic acid, furan-2-carboxylic acid, 5-bromofuran2-carboxylic acid, and 5-nitrofuran-2-carboxylic acid were synthesized by the reaction of the corresponding acids with acetylene and vinyl acetate. Mercuric acetate and boron trifluoride etherate were used as catalysts for the transvinylation of acids of the furan series. The structures of the vinyl esters obtained were proved by IR and PMR spectroscopy. The distribution of the -electron density in the molecules of four of the synthesized vinyl and ethyl esters was studied by means of quantum-chemical calculations by the SCF MO LCAO method (Pople variant) using the Raman and UV absorption spectra.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 11, pp. 1443–1447, November, 1972.     

“Mariya” experiment on the analysis of the electronpositron component of cosmic rays onboard the salyut 7, soyuz T-13, kosmos 1669 orbital complex

Investigations of vinyl ethers of the furan series

A number of 5-aminomethylfurfuryl alcohols were synthesized by the Mannich reaction from furfuryl alcohol, secondary amines, and paraformaldehyde. The corresponding vinyl ethers were obtained by reaction of these alcohols with acetylene. Synthesis of 2-thiabicyclo[3.2.0]hept-3-enes by reaction of acetylene with sodium sulfide

Homolytic Addition Reaction of Vinylsulfonylfluorobenzene

The reaction of 3,6-bis(vinylsulfonyl)-1,2,4,5-tetrafluorobenzene with a large excess of tetrahydrofuran at 50-55°C gives the homolytic addition product 3,6-bis[2-(2-tetrahydrofuryl)ethylsulfonyl]-1,2,4,5-tetrafluorobenzene. The reaction is effected by peroxides radical process initiators obtained by the autooxidation of tetrahydrofuran.
