This paper contains a detailed study of those locally convex spaces E-which we call GN-spaces-for which the following closed graph theorem holds: Every closed linear map from E to any normed linear space is continuous. In the first two sections we establish some characterisations and permanence-properties of these spaces. The main result reads as follows: Every separated GN-space is isomorphic to a barrelled subspace of some ωd?d′, and conversely. Then we determine those GN-spaces which are (DF)-spaces, Schwartz-spaces or nuclear spaces. Finally we show that neither the strong dual nor the tensor product of GN-spaces are GN-spaces.  相似文献

The discovery of materials is increasingly guided by quantum-mechanical crystal-structure prediction, but the structural complexity in bulk and nanoscale materials remains a bottleneck. Here we demonstrate how data-driven approaches can vastly accelerate the search for complex structures, combining a machine-learning (ML) model for the potential-energy surface with efficient, fragment-based searching. We use the characteristic building units observed in Hittorf's and fibrous phosphorus to seed stochastic (“random”) structure searches over hundreds of thousands of runs. Our study identifies a family of hierarchically structured allotropes based on a P8 cage as principal building unit, including one-dimensional (1D) single and double helix structures, nanowires, and two-dimensional (2D) phosphorene allotropes with square-lattice and kagome topologies. These findings yield new insight into the intriguingly diverse structural chemistry of phosphorus, and they provide an example for how ML methods may, in the long run, be expected to accelerate the discovery of hierarchical nanostructures.  相似文献

Summary The interaction of a shock wave with the junction of a straight duct having a side branch is considered. The paper checks the validity of three hypotheses. The first and second one calculate the shock waves after the junctions only by a geometrical consideration. A comparison with experimental values shows only an unsatisfactory result for weak shock waves. The third theory assumes that the pressure drop across the junction, in the quasi-steady flow which takes place after the incident shock wave, is the same as in steady flow tests. The pressure drops were measured for different junctions and the results of the calculation were compared with experimental values from a shock tube, both for circular and rectangular channels. We show that, if is a -group, but not compact, then the dual Banach algebra does not have a normal, virtual diagonal. Consequently, whenever is an amenable, non-compact -group, is an example of a Connes-amenable, dual Banach algebra without a normal, virtual diagonal. On the other hand, there are amenable, non-compact, locally compact groups such that does have a normal, virtual diagonal.

Recent measurements of nucleon resonance transition form factors with CLAS at Jefferson Lab are discussed. The new data confirm the assertion of the symmetric constituent quark model of the Roper as the first radial excitation of the nucleon. The data on high Q2 nπ+ production better constrain the branching ratios liNK and [3Nn. For the first time, the longitudinal transition amplitude to the S11(1535) was extracted from the nπ+ data. Also, new results on the transition amplitudes for the D13(1520) resonance are presented showing a rapid transition from helicity 3/2 dominance seen at the real photon point to helicty 1/2 dominance at higher Q2. I also discuss the status of the search for new excited nucleon states.  相似文献

In this paper we study the asymptotic behavior of a system modeling heating of material by microwaves. Various assumptions have been made, concerning complexity (nonhomogeneous structure) and the two-phase state of the material. The mathematical model includes Maxwell’s and heat–transfer equations. The endocytotic mechanisms involved in the uptake of charged polystyrene nanoparticles into HeLa cells were investigated. Uptake experiments were done in the presence or absence of drugs known to inhibit various factors in endocytosis. Independent of the particle charge, endocytosis is highly dependent on dynamin, F-actin, and tyrosine-specific protein kinases, which suggests a dynamin-dependent and lipid raft-dependent mechanism. However, cholesterol depletion did not hinder particle uptake. Regarding positively charged particles, macropinocytosis, the microtubule network, and cyclooxygenases are also involved. The clathrin-dependent pathway plays a minor role.  相似文献
