The effect of LH wave on the peripheral plasma of TM-1-MH tokamak

The work is devoted to the study of the LH wave effect on the peripheral plasma of the TM-1-MH tokamak. The observed enhancement of the ion saturated current in the limiter shadow is interpreted as heating of the peripheral ions by absorption of decay waves generated in this region due to the nonlinear wave-plasma interaction.     

Coercivity of single-domain nickel wires

The coercivity H_c of compacts of thin (0.1?5 μ diameter) nickel wires embedded in a silver matrix has been measured as a function of the effective wire radius d_eff. H_c increases linearly with 1/d_eff², in agreement with Aharoni's theory of magnetization reversal by curling. From the slope, δH_{c/gd (deff^?2)}, upper and lower bounds for the exchange constant A of Nickel have been derived (77K): 1.5 × 10^?11 Wsec/m ? 3.0 × 10^?11 Wsec/m.

Thermal degradation of poly(vinyl chloride). I. Structural effects in the initiation and decomposition chain lengths

Four poly(vinyl chloride) samples containing different structural irregularities were thermally decomposed. The rates of HCl evolution were compared to the rates of radical generation in the samples. Orders of stabilities related to the structural entities for the initiation of decomposition and for the chain lengths of HCl evolution were established.     

Mössbauer studies of dilute Au:Er alloys: Obervation of hyperfine structure of ground and excited CEF levels

The hyperfine structure of dilute ¹⁶⁶Er impurities in Au has been investigated between 1.8 and 60 K by Mössbauer spectroscopy. The hyperfine spectrum of the Γ₇ electronic ground state is clearly observed below 4.2 K while at higher temperatures there is an indication of the contribution from the excited CEF-states Γ⁽¹⁾₈ and Γ₆. Using Hirst's relaxation theory for the Γ₇ ground state the magnetic hyperfine coupling constant A=(247±3) MHz and the exchange coupling constant J_sf=(0.10±0.02)eV were derived. A quadruple coupling constant B of about 1 MHz was estimated from the hyperfine pattern of the Γ⁽¹⁾₈ quartet.     

The role of solvent polarity and cocatalyst structure in the cationic polymerization of 3,3-bis(chloromethyl) oxetane

In the cationic polymerization of 3,3-bis(chloromethyl)oxetane induced by BF₃ the solvent polarity (toluene, methylene chloride, ethylene chloride, nitrobenzene, and nitromethane) does not influence the k_tr/k_p ratio, where k_tr stands for the rate constant of chain transfer to polymer. Increase of the overall polymerization rate is due mainly to the increase of k_i. The application of the steady-state conditions in which the slow formation of the active centers is compensated by the unimolecular chain transfer to polymer allowed the determination of k_tr/k_p ratios for several chain-transfer agents of low molecular weight. Alcohols and ethers of different basicities were used. It was established that the k_tr/k_p ratio is a linear function of ?pK_a of the chain-transfer agents.
