Thee + e −→¯nn cross section predicted remarkably larger than thee + e −→¯pp one

It is shown that all global analyses of nucleon electromagnetic form factor data predict the electron-positron annihilation into neutron-antineutron cross section (for which there are no data till now) to be in a finite energy region substantially larger than the electron-positron annihilation into the proton-antiproton one.Dedicated to the memory of M. On the Rees algebra of certain codimension two perfect ideals

 Suppose ? is a set of arbitrary number of smooth points in ℙ² its defining ideal. In this paper, we study the Rees algebras of the ideals generated by I _t , t ≥α. When the points of ? are general, we give a set of defining equations for the Rees algebra . When the points of ? are arbitrary, we show that for all t≫ 0, the Rees algebra is Cohen-Macaulay and its defining ideal is generated by quadratics. A cohomological characterization for arithmetic Cohen-Macaulayness of subvarieties of a product space is also given. Received 4 April 2001     

Mappings of finite distortion: Hausdorff measure of zero sets

We prove that a for a mapping f of finite distortion , the -Hausdorff measure of any point preimage is zero provided is integrable, with , and the multiplicity function of f is essentially bounded. IR finite one-loop box scalar integral with massless internal lines

The IR finite one-loop box scalar integral with massless internal lines has been recalculated. The result is very compact, simple and valid for arbitrary values of the relevant kinematic variables. An expansion in the exponent for compound binomial approximations

The purpose of this paper is two-fold. First, we introduce a new asymptotic expansion in the exponent for the compound binomial approximation of the generalized Poisson binomial distribution. The dependence of its accuracy on the symmetry and shifting of distributions is investigated. Second, for compound binomial and compound Poisson distributions, we present new smoothness estimates, some of which contain explicit constants. Finally, the ideas used in this paper enable us to prove new precise bounds in the compound Poisson approximation. Two Hadamard matrices of order 956 of Goethals-Seidel type

No Hadamard matrices of order 956 appear in the literature. In this note we construct two such matrices. They are both of Goethals-Seidel type. As a consequence of this and of a result of Seberry and Yamada, we conclude that there exist 4-Williamson type matrices of order 1913.This work was supported by NSERC of Canada Grants A-5285 and EQP0107539.     

Moment problem for effect algebras

We present a solution to the moment problem for effect algebras, concerning mean values of all powers of an observable concentrated on the interval [0, 1] for states from a convex set. We give a solution for particular examples, e.g., for the set of all effect operators. We examine how this problem is related to a socalled E-property. Finally, we give a solution for observables studied in the operational approach to physical theories.
