The first symposium on gravitational collapse and other aspects of relativistic astrophysics (Texas 1, in retrospect) was inspired by one idea—gravitational collapse of massive objects as an energy source—and one observational discovery—the large red shifts of optical counterparts of the quasistellar radiosources (soon quasars, even when radio quiet). Since that time, there has been fierce interplay at Symposia 2–26 between new ideas, new observations (or experiments if you are a physicist) and old ideas given new life. The talk and this paper explore a subset of the interactions. Texas has typically been a broad church, admitting nonstandard ideas and disputed data. Radical anions from several 3,4‐aryl‐disubstituted derivatives of 1,2,5‐thiadiazole 1,1‐dioxide were accumulated through chemical reduction of the substrates in aprotic solvents. The radical anions were characterized by electron spin resonance and cyclic voltammetry. DFT theoretical calculations were also performed for the 3,4‐diphenyl derivative. The course of the reductions was followed using cyclic voltammetry. Uncommon reductants, such as amides, were found to be effective under certain conditions. The Kohn-Sham exchange potential of finite systems is shown to approach different asymptotic limits on nodal surfaces of the energetically highest-occupied orbital than in other regions. This leads to barrier-well structures in the near asymptotic region, which have a strong influence on virtual orbitals and thus on excitation energies. Common approximations for the exchange potential do not exhibit these features. These asymptotic structures, however, can be correctly described by effective exact-exchange methods. Conditions for the presence of an asymptotic barrier well in the full exchange-correlation potential are discussed. 相似文献

The influence of several factors (amplitude of ultrasonic waves, external static pressure, temperature and viscosity of medium) acting, either individually or in combination, on the amount of power transferred to a liquid medium during ultrasonication (power output) was measured by calorimetry. At constant amplitude (150 microns) and pressure (200 kPa), the power output decreased as the temperature was raised. The effect of temperature could be compensated by increasing pressure. The magnitude of the increase in power output due to raising the pressure depended on the pressure range and the treatment temperature. At all temperatures and pressures studied, the power output increased exponentially when the amplitude was increased linearly. The magnitude of this power output did not depend on the temperature or pressure of treatment. At 40 degrees C the magnitude of the increase in power output due to increasing the pressure was not influenced by the amplitude of sonic waves. The power output increased as the viscosity of the medium was increased. The magnitude of this effect did not depend on the amplitude but on the static pressure. 相似文献
