A cylindrical pore of ~7.5 Å diameter containing a one-dimensional water wire, within the confines of a hydrophobic channel lined with the valine side chain, has been observed in crystals of the peptide Boc–d-Pro-Aib-Val-Aib-Val–OMe (1) (Raghavender et al., 2009, 2010). The synthesis and structural characterization in crystals of three backbone homologated analogues Boc–d-Pro-Aib-β3(R)Val-Aib-Val–OMe (2), Boc–d-Pro-Aib-γ4(R)Val-Aib-Val–OMe (3), Boc–d-Pro-Aib-γ4(S)Val-Aib-Val–OMe (4) are described. Crystal structures of peptides 2, 3 and 4 reveal close-packed arrangements in which no pore was formed. In peptides 2 and 3 the N-terminus d-Pro-Aib segment adopted conformations closely related to Type II′ β-turns, while residues 2–4 form one turn of an αβ right-handed C11 helix in 2 and an αγ C12 helix in 3. In peptide 4, a continuous left-handed helical structure was observed with the d-Pro-Aib segment forming a Type III′ β-turn, followed by one turn of a left-handed αγ C12 helix. 相似文献

Ion transport behavior in a mechanochemically synthesized silver halide mixed composite has been investigated. AgI and AgCl, in 75: 25 mol. wt. (%) ratio, has been prepared by high energy ball milling for different milling times viz. 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 h as well as by simple physical mixing (referred to as zero hour milling). The room temperature conductivity has been evaluated as a function of milling time. The conductivity increased initially with increasing milling time, then decreased. The increase in conductivity has been attributed to the increased degree of amorphosity in the sample as a consequence of high energy ball milling. The 30-hour milled sample exhibited highest conductivity with an enhancement of more an order of magnitude from that of zero hour milled sample. To explain the ion transport mechanism in the optimum conducting sample, other basic ionic parameters viz. ionic mobility (μ), mobile ion concentration (n), ionic transference number (tion) etc. have also been determined. The materials and structural properties have been characterized using XRD, FTIR, and DSC techniques. Using the optimum conducting sample as electrolyte, all-solid-state battery has been fabricated having cell configuration: Ag (anode) // (0.75 AgI:0.25AgCl) // C + I2 + Electrolyte (cathode), and the cell performance has been studied under varying load conditions. 相似文献

The laryngeal neuromuscular mechanisms for modulating glottal posture and fundamental frequency are of interest in understanding normal laryngeal physiology and treating vocal pathology. The intrinsic laryngeal muscles in an in vivo canine model were electrically activated in a graded fashion to investigate their effects on onset frequency, phonation onset pressure, vocal fold strain, and glottal distance at the vocal processes. Muscle activation plots for these laryngeal parameters were evaluated for the interaction of following pairs of muscle activation conditions: (1) cricothyroid (CT) versus all laryngeal adductors (TA/LCA/IA), (2) CT versus LCA/IA, (3) CT versus thyroarytenoid (TA) and, (4) TA versus LCA/IA (LCA: lateral cricoarytenoid muscle, IA: interarytenoid). Increases in onset frequency and strain were primarily affected by CT activation. Onset pressure correlated with activation of all adductors in activation condition 1, but primarily with CT activation in conditions 2 and 3. TA and CT were antagonistic for strain. LCA/IA activation primarily closed the cartilaginous glottis while TA activation closed the mid-membranous glottis. 相似文献

The steady state nonlinear propagation of an intense, circularly polarized electromagnetic beam in an inhomogeneous magnetized plasma has been investigated in paraxial approximation. The laser induces a large oscillatory velocity on electrons, raising their mass and lowering the plasma frequency. Further, rising due to cyclotron resonance effect. The propagation of the electromagnetic waves in magnetized plasma in both the extraordinary and ordinary mode is analyzed. The nonlinearity in dielectric function is considered in presence of external magnetic field due to saturation effects for arbitrary large intensity, which leads to focusing/defocusing of the beam. The focusing effect along with magnetic field helps in the process of anomalous penetration of the beam by enhancing the depletion of the plasma from the axial region. The penetration increases with the incident beam power up to some critical value beyond which it rises abruptly when all electrons have been driven out of the axis. The cyclotron resonance effect awfully supports the laser beam to propagate inside the overdense plasma region. Numerical computations are performed for typical parameters of relativistic laser–plasma interaction applicable for underdense and overdense plasma. 相似文献

A simple interferometric polarimeter with an integrated calibration scheme is proposed for accurate and fast mapping of the state of polarization (SOP). Conventional single-shot polarimeters that detect the amplitude and phase of orthogonally polarized field components by interferometry using Fourier fringe analysis suffers from errors caused by the imperfect reference beam and ambiguity in the spatial carrier frequency in the fringe pattern. In the proposed system, the integrated calibration scheme eliminates those error sources and enables accurate measurement of SOP without prior knowledge of the reference beam and the spatial carrier frequency. 相似文献

The inflammatory response is a central aspect of the human immune system that acts as a defense mechanism to protect the body against infections and injuries. A dysregulated inflammatory response is a major health concern, as it can disrupt homeostasis and lead to a plethora of chronic inflammatory conditions. These chronic inflammatory diseases are one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide and the need for them to be managed in the long term has become a crucial task to alleviate symptoms and improve patients’ overall quality of life. Although various synthetic anti-inflammatory agents have been developed to date, these medications are associated with several adverse effects that have led to poor therapeutic outcomes. The hunt for novel alternatives to modulate underlying chronic inflammatory processes has unveiled nature to be a plentiful source. One such example is agarwood, which is a valuable resinous wood from the trees of Aquilaria spp. Agarwood has been widely utilized for medicinal purposes since ancient times due to its ability to relieve pain, asthmatic symptoms, and arrest vomiting. In terms of inflammation, the major constituent of agarwood, agarwood oil, has been shown to possess multiple bioactive compounds that can regulate molecular mechanisms of chronic inflammation, thereby producing a multitude of pharmacological functions for treating various inflammatory disorders. As such, agarwood oil presents great potential to be developed as a novel anti-inflammatory therapeutic to overcome the drawbacks of existing therapies and improve treatment outcomes. A cobalt-catalyzed, N,O-bidentate directing group-assisted C−H bond functionalization of benzamides with maleimides was developed for the facile access to isoindolone spirosuccinimides in good to excellent yields. This C−H bond activation and spirocyclization employing pyridine N-oxide as directing group provided very good substrate scope and tolerated various functional groups.
