Point‐of‐Care Amperometric Testing of Diabetic Marker (HbA1c) Using Specific Electroactive Antibodies

Specific immune detection of glycated hemoglobin is still a great challenge owing to the small epitopic difference between Hemoglobin (Hb) and HbA1c. We report a new electrochemical immunoassay format for point of care testing of HbA1c. A conducting self‐assembled monolayer of mercaptophenyl boronic acid (MPBA) was used as a capture layer for binding of glycated proteins and ferrocene tagged anti‐HbA1c antibody (FcAb) as a tracer molecule on a gold screen printed electrode. Validation of the new HbA1c assay was carried out using 6 clinical samples with known HPLC values and a correlation coefficient of 98 % was observed.     

New chalcone based liquid crystals with allylidene amino linking unit: Synthesis and characterization

In this study, the synthesis, structural characterization and mesomorphic properties of newly thirteen calamitic shaped compounds derived from allylidene amino chalcone and 4-n-alkoxy benzoyloxy benzoic acid. Comp.H₁ to H₃ exhibited nonliquid crystalline nature, while comp.H₄ to comp.H₁₈ displayed enantiotropical smectic C phase. Phase transition temperatures of present synthesised compounds were determined by optical polarising microscopy (POM), differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) techniques. Thermal stabilities of smectic to isotropic phase are 150.0 °C and temperature range of mesophase is in decreasing order from comp.H₃ to comp.H₁₈ respectively. The presences of SmC phase are the type of broken fan and needle type in present synthesized series. It is also shown that presence of chalcone amino allylidene central linking group favors a calamitic liquid crystalline behaviour in molecules with lower member to higher member aliphatic side chain in alkoxy group (-OR).     

Synthesis and structural reactivity of inorganic–organic hybrid nanocomposites – A review

Chemistry of hybrid nanocomposites depends mainly on their reactivity and structural relationship. This review mainly reports on the processing techniques of inorganic–organic hybrid nanocomposites and their natural reactivity. Herein, the structure, processing methods and properties of nanocomposites with three different types of matrices are discussed in general. The perusal of this review enables the researchers to design a novel and simple route in processing the hybrid nanocomposites.     

Asymmetric synthesis of (4S,5S)-2-oxo-4-phenyloxazolidine-5-carboxylic acid using a 1,2-addition of PhMgBr to an N-sulfinimine derived from (R)-glyceraldehyde acetonide and (S)-t-BSA

We report an asymmetric synthesis of (4S,5S)-2-oxo-4-phenyloxazolidine-5-carboxylic acid via stereoselective addition of phenylmagnesium bromide (PhMgBr) to an N-sulfinimine derived from (R)-glyceraldehyde acetonide. (S)- and (R)-Glyceraldehyde acetonides, important chiral synthons in synthetic organic chemistry, are prepared from the corresponding epichlorohydrin using an identical synthetic methodology.
