Alkylation of 3‐Phenyl‐1H‐pyrazolo[4,3‐c] quinoline: Theoretical Analysis of Regioselectivity

The interaction of 3‐phenyl‐1H‐pyrazolo[4.3‐c]quinoline with alkylating agents in the presence of NaH leads mainly to N1‐substituted derivatives. The regioselectivity of the reaction has been studied using AM1 semi‐empirical calculations in the isolated molecule approximation.     

Solvent‐Free Iodination of Arenes using Iodine–Silver Nitrate Combination

A simple and environmentally safe general method of iodination of aromatic substrates under sovent‐free conditions using the I₂/AgNO₃ combination in a solid state is reported. Both activated and deactivated aromatic compounds afford the respective aryl iodides in generally high yields (80–90%).     

One-pot synthesis of 2-(dicyanomethylene)-1,2-dihydropyridine derivatives

The synthesis of 2-(dicyanomethylene)-1,2-dihydropyridine derivatives from the reactions of arylmethylidene derivatives of malononitrile dimers with 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds is described.     

Electronic structure,novel synthesis,and O—H...O and C—H...O interactions in two 6‐oxopiperidine‐2‐carboxylic acid derivatives

Molecules of (S)‐6‐oxo‐1‐(thiophen‐2‐ylmethyl)piperidine‐2‐carboxylic acid, C₁₁H₁₃NO₃S, crystallize as single enantiomers in the space group P2₁ and the thiophene ring is disordered over two positions, while (S)‐6‐oxo‐1‐(thiophen‐3‐ylmethyl)piperidine‐2‐carboxylic acid, C₁₁H₁₃NO₃S, crystallizes as a single enantiomer in the space group P2₁2₁2₁. Their absolute configurations were confirmed by anomalous dispersion effects in diffraction measurements on the crystals. The molecules of each compound are linked by a combination of strong O—H...O hydrogen bonds and weak C—H...O interactions, resulting in two‐ and three‐dimensional networks, respectively, in the crystal structures.

Multiarm Star-Shaped Polydimethylsiloxanes with a Dendritic Branching Center

New multiarm stars have been synthesized based on polylithium derivatives of high-generation carbosilane dendrimers. In the synthesis of multiarm stars based on the eighth-generation dendrimer, steric hindrances were observed even during the synthesis of a polylithium initiator. Subsequently, this led to chain transfer reactions between growing arms, as well as other side effects. As a result, dense nanogel formations with a higher tendency of ordering than in classical objects of this type were isolated from the reaction mixture. The study of the rheology of multiarm stars based on sixth-generation dendrimers made it possible to determine the activation energies of viscous flow in these objects, which makes it possible to consider them as objects with a macromolecular nature and a reptation flow mechanism.     

Influence of Ga/(Ga + In) grading on deep‐defect states of Cu(In,Ga)Se2 solar cells

The benefits of gallium (Ga) grading on Cu(In,Ga)Se₂ (CIGS) solar cell performance are demonstrated by comparing with ungraded CIGS cells. Using drive‐level capacitance profiling (DLCP) and admittance spectroscopy (AS) analyses, we show the influence of Ga grading on the spatial variation of deep defects, free‐carrier densities in the CIGS absorber, and their impact on the cell's open‐circuit voltage V_oc. The parameter most constraining the cell's V_oc is found to be the deep‐defect density close to the space charge region (SCR). In ungraded devices, high deep‐defect concentrations (4.2 × 10¹⁶cm^–3) were observed near the SCR, offering a source for Shockley–Read–Hall recombination, reducing the cell's V_oc. In graded devices, the deep‐defect densities near the SCR decreased by one order of magnitude (2.5 × 10¹⁵ cm^–3) for back surface graded devices, and almost two orders of magnitude (8.6 × 10¹⁴ cm^–3) for double surface graded devices, enhancing the cell's V_oc. In compositionally graded devices, the free‐carrier density in the absorber's bulk decreased in tandem with the ratio of gallium to gallium plus indium ratio GGI = Ga/(Ga + In), increasing the activation energy, hindering the ionization of the defect states at room temperature and enhancing their role as recombination centers within the energy band. Structurally Tunable 3‐Cyanoformazanate Boron Difluoride Dyes

The straightforward synthesis of a series of 3‐cyanoformazanate boron difluoride dyes is reported. Phenyl, 4‐methoxyphenyl and 4‐cyanophenyl N‐substituted derivatives were isolated and characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray crystallography, cyclic voltammetry, and UV/Vis spectroscopy. The compounds were demonstrated to possess tunable, substituent‐dependent absorption, emission, and electrochemical properties, which were rationalized through electronic structure calculations.
