Stereoselective Total Synthesis of Multiplolide A and of a Diastereoisomer

A stereoselective total synthesis of multiplolide A ( 1 ) and of its diastereoisomer 2 was described from easily accessible starting materials (Schemes 2–4). The synthetic strategy involves a Jacobsen resolution, Sharpless epoxidation, Swern oxidation, Yamaguchi reaction, and ring‐closing metathesis (RCM).     

Phosphomolybdic Acid: An Efficient and Recyclable Solid Acid Catalyst for the Synthesis of 4,4′-(Arylmethylene)bis(1H-pyrazol-5-ols)

An efficient and environmentally friendly method has been developed for synthesis of 4,4′-(arylmethylene)bis(1H-pyrazol-5-ols) by condensation reaction of aromatic aldehydes with 3-methyl-l-phenyl-5-pyrazolone in the presence of phosphomolybdic acid as a recyclable catalyst in ethanol at ambient temperature in excellent yields.     

Carbon-carbon cleavage of aryl diamines and quinone formation using sodium periodate: a novel application

A first novel synthetic utility of sodium periodate for aryl diamine carbon-carbon cleavage is described. Aryl 1,2-diamine compounds were successfully converted into corresponding nitriles, while the developed method is also useful for the preparation of quinones from corresponding aryl 1,4-diamine compounds. The advantages of this protocol are shorter reaction time and mild reaction conditions to obtain moderate to good yields.     

RP-LC Determination of Rutin in Amaranthus spinosus Linn. Whole Plant Powder

A simple, reproducible and efficient reverse phase high performance liquid chromatographic method has been developed for the determination of rutin in whole plant powder of Amaranthus spinosus Linn. The analysis was done with Waters Cosmosil C₁₈ column (150 × 4.6 mm i.d., 5 μm particle size) as stationary phase at a wavelength of 361 nm for detection and determination. The proposed HPLC method was validated for linearity, accuracy, precision and limit of quantitation.     

A ligand-free Pd-catalyzed cascade reaction: an access to the highly diverse isoquinolin-1(2H)-one derivatives via isocyanide and Ugi-MCR synthesized amide precursors

A novel ligand-free palladium-catalyzed cascade reaction for the synthesis of highly diverse isoquinolin-1(2H)-one derivatives from isocyanide and amide precursors synthesized by Ugi-MCR has been developed. A broad variety of acids, amines, and isocyanides were used as starting materials for Ugi-MCR leading to various amide precursors, which in turn provided entry into diverse isoquinolin-1(2H)-one derivatives. The reaction proceeds through tandem isocyanide insertion with intramolecular cyclization followed by a Mazurciewitcz-Ganesan type sequence to provide isoquinoline-1(2H)-one derivatives in moderate to good yields.
