Elastomers typically require the incorporation of reinforcing fillers in order to improve their mechanical properties. For commercial silicone systems silica and titania are typically used as fillers. Fumed and precipitated silica are made on an industrial scale for many applications; however, we have shown recently that biological and synthetic macromolecules can generate new silica structures using a bioinspired route. Herein we have incorporated bioinspired silica fillers into poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) elastomers and investigated their mechanical, morphological and thermal properties as a function of filler loading. The equilibrium stress-strain characteristics of the PDMS-bioinspired silica hybrids were determined as a function of bioinspired filler loading and the Mooney-Rivlin constants (2C1 and 2C2) were calculated. The thermal characteristics, in particular glass transition temperatures (Tg) and melting points (Tm), of the PDMS-bioinspired silica hybrids were characterized using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The thermal stability of these hybrid materials were investigated using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The morphology of the samples was characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the filler dispersion was characterized using ultra small angle X-ray scattering (USAXS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Although spherical silica particles were used here, we have demonstrated elsewhere that this bioinspired synthetic route also enables highly asymmetric silica structures to be prepared such as fibres and sheets. The odd mass nucleus 137Pm has been studied to high spins through the 109Ag(32S, 2p2n)137Pm reaction at an incident beam energy of 150 MeV. The de-exciting ??-rays were detected using an array of 18 Compton suppressed clover detectors. The level scheme of 137Pm has been extended up to $J^\pi = \tfrac{{43}} {2}^ -$ and excitation energy of E x ? 6 MeV with the observation of 42 new gamma transitions. The linear polarization (IPDCO) measurements for the ??-ray transitions have been done for the first time. The spin and parity assignments for most of the reported levels have been made using these results and the coincidence angular anisotropy (RDCO) measurements. The nuclear shape evolution is discussed in the light of Total Routhian Surface (TRS) and Cranked Shell Model (CSM) calculations. 相似文献

A facile method for the activation of hydroxy-substituted carboxylic acids using benzotriazole chemistry without prior protection of the hydroxy substituents is presented. The N-acylbenzotriazole intermediates 2a-g, 6a-d, and 9a-c have been used for high-yielding synthesis of both aliphatic (3a-l) and aromatic (7a-h, 10a-f) hydroxy carboxamides. High yields of aromatic hydroxy esters 12a-h and 13a-i were obtained using either neat alcohols in neutral microwave conditions or nucleophilic alkoxides and the intermediate N-(arylacyl)benzotriazoles. Moderate yields were obtained in the case of aliphatic hydroxy esters 11a,b and thiolesters 11e-g from the intermediates 2a-c. 相似文献

AbstractAn efficient asymmetric oxidation of sulfides was achieved using (R)-6,6'-dibromo-BINOL as chiral ligand in combination with Ti(OiPr)4 using 70% aqueous tertiary butyl hydroperoxide as oxidant. Very recently Deo, in the paper “Simultaneous approximation by Lupas operators with weighted function of Szasz operators”
[J. Inequal. Pure Appl. Math., 5, No. 4 (2004)] claimed to introduce the integral modifications of Lupas operators. These operators were first introduced
in 1993 by Gupta and Srivastava. They estimated the simultaneous approximation for these operators and called them Baskakov-Szasz
operators. There are several misprints in the paper by Deo. This motivated us to perform subsequent investigations in this
direction. We extend the study and estimate a saturation result in simultaneous approximation for the linear combinations
of these summation-integral-type operators.
