Binding energy spectra of the valence electrons of the open shell molecule NO have been obtained up to 55 eV at azimuthal angles of 0° and 7° using binary (e, 2e) spectroscopy at an impact energy of 1200 eV. The momentum distribution has been obtained for the least tightly bound (unpaired) electron, removal of which leads to formation of the X 1Σ+ ground state of NO+. Momentum distributions have also been measured at 21.0 and 40.5 eV. The measured momentum distributions are compared with several literature wavefunctions of varying complexity. They are found to be in excellent agreement with those calculated using the natural spin orbital wavefunctions of Kouba and Ohrn. 相似文献

In 1979, Papadimitriou and Yannakakis gave a polynomial time algorithm for the scheduling of jobs requiring unit completion times when the precedence constraints form an interval order. The authors solve here the corresponding problem, for preemptive scheduling (a job can be interrupted to work on more important tasks, and completed at a later time, subject to the usual scheduling constraints.) The m-machine preemptive scheduling problem is shown to have a polynomial algorithm, for both unit time and variable execution times as well, when the precedence constraints are given by an interval order. 相似文献

We report the regulated continuous-wave (CW) operation of a second harmonic gyrotron oscillator at output power levels of over 8 W (12.4 kV and 135 mA beam voltage and current) in the TE(0,6,1) mode near 460 GHz. The gyrotron also operates in the second harmonic TE(2,6,1) mode at 456 GHz and in the TE(2,3,1) fundamental mode at 233 GHz. CW operation was demonstrated for a one-hour period in the TE(0,6,1) mode with better than 1% power stability, where the power was regulated using feedback control. Nonlinear simulations of the gyrotron operation agree with the experimentally measured output power and radio-frequency (RF) efficiency when cavity ohmic losses are included in the analysis. The output radiation pattern was measured using a pyroelectric camera and is highly Gaussian, with an ellipticity of 4%. The 460-GHz gyrotron will serve as a millimeter-wave source for sensitivity-enhanced nuclear magnetic resonance (dynamic nuclear polarization) experiments at a magnetic field of 16.4 T. 相似文献

The elastic fields generated by a straight-line screw dislocation axially arranged in a spherical particle have been calculated and analyzed. Some features of the distribution of elastic fields in this case and in the case of a screw dislocation lying along the axis of a cylindrical whisker are similar. The elastic energies per unit dislocation length differ slightly in the two cases. This corroborates the validity of application of some of the results obtained for screw dislocations in elastic cylinders to the study of properties of screw dislocations in equiaxed particles.Authors are very indebted to dr. The spectra of the collimated polarization bremsstrahlung of 7-MeV electrons intersecting Al, Cu, and Ni polycrystalline films have been measured. Detailed quantitative comparison of the experimental data with theoretical predictions has been performed. It has been shown that the model of a polycrystal as an ensemble of randomly oriented single crystals adequately describes the experimental results. Some additional conditions of applicability of the ergodic hypothesis to fiber ring interferometers (FRIs) with a loop consisting of a single-mode optical fiber (SMOF) with random inhomogeneities are considered. It is shown by mathematical modeling that the change in the phase difference of counterpropagating waves at the FRI output with the SMOF temperature is not a stationary random process. However, in a fairly narrow temperature range, this dependence can be assumed to be locally stationary. The conditions determining this temperature range are formulated. It is shown for a fairly large ensemble of independent realizations of random inhomogeneities in an SMOF that, even when all conditions of ergodicity are satisfied with a large margin, there will always be at least one realization violating strict ergodicity. Thus, only conditional (approximate) ergodicity occurs in this case. Nevertheless, in calculation of the FRI zero drift in this situation, averaging over an ensemble of independent realizations of random inhomogeneities in the SMOF of an FRI loop can be performed with sufficient accuracy. As a result, calculations are simplified significantly. In the general case, when at least one of the conditions of ergodicity is not satisfied, averaging over temperature for each realization with subsequent averaging over the entire ensemble should be performed. It is shown also that, within this problem, we can speak only about quasi-ergodicity or emulation of ergodicity, since a change in the temperature of the SMOF of an FRI loop and successive enumeration of independent realizations of random inhomogeneities in the SMOF loop are radically different random processes. The parameters characterizing quasiperiodic temperature changes in the phase difference of counterpropagating waves at the FRI output are refined. 相似文献

A new theoretical model describing the emission and absorption dynamics in an ensemble of molecules under intense coherent pulsed pumping is developed on the basis of the concepts of cooperative light-induced luminescence (CLIL). The CLIL development is described within the framework of formalism of the system density matrix in the space of photon wave functions. It is shown that the fast growth of CLIL relates to the development of coherent states of the quantum field in the area of efficient cooperative interactions of molecules (coherence volume). A system of equations for the calculation of CLIL energy, population of excited states, and optical absorption of the system in dependence on the laser pump energy density is solved. The effects of imaging-gas hyperpolarisability and field-gradient polarisabuity terms on field-adsorption binding energies have been explored. At best image fields for the noble imaging gases and molecular hydrogen, the correction to long-range binding energy is at most a few percent and may be neglected. At the tungsten evaporation field the correction is significant in the cases of Ar, Kr, H2, and especially Xe. The system He on W(111) has been used as a paradigm in the investigation of short-range binding energy. The largest correction here is due to one of the field-gradient polarisabuity terms. In the field range of most relevance to the field-ion techniques the total correction is about 15–20%, and should not be neglected in detailed treatments. 相似文献
