Tetrahedral naphthalenediimide compound 1 has been synthesized as an example of a new class of amorphous n-type materials, in which the nondirectionality obtained by its shape is decoupled from its optoelectronic properties. 1 forms bicontinuous films with p-type polymers and effectively quenches the excited state, yielding long-lived mobile charge carriers on pulsed illumination.  相似文献

Cyclodextrin acts as a restricting nanovessel to enhance regioselectivity in bromination of substituted phenols such as 3-nitrophenol, 2-chlorophenol, 3-chlorophenol, and 4-chlorophenol. In contrast to solution bromination, cyclodextrin facilitates regioselective monobromination and formation of polybrominated products are substantially reduced. Selectivities in brominations are also observed in water and in the solid state. The observed results are rationalized on the basis of specific modes of inclusion of substituted phenols inside the cyclodextrin cavity and find strong support from energy minimization studies and 1H-1H NOESY.  相似文献

Linear arrays of dislocations (straight, terminating and curved) are observed on etching with 2% citric acid (002) cleavages of lithium carbonate (Li2CO3) single crystals, grown by zone melting technique. As the dislocations are non-uniformly spaced and disappear on successive etching, they may not be revealing low-angle grain boundary, nor slip traces as they are terminating and curved meaning crystallographically non-oriented. On the observation of experiments on successive etching and etching of matched pairs, it is concluded that the arrays of etch pits reveal dislocation walls (dislocation density 1.1 × 106 — 1.5 × 107 pits cm−2) probably created due to the localized thermal stresses released as a result of high temperature annealing of the crystal during growth. Li2CO3 single crystals have been grown by zone melting technique in carbondioxide atmosphere. The diameter of the grown crystal depends on the growth rate. The quality of the crystal depends on the growth rate, temperature of the molten zone, choice of the seed and the temperature of the auxiliary furnace. The crystal shows cleavage plane. The etch studies on cleavage planes show that the etch pits are always triangular in character.  相似文献

Unambiguous structural elucidation of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) impurities is a particularly challenging necessity of pharmaceutical development, particularly if the impurities are low level (0.1% level). In many cases, this requires acquiring high‐quality NMR data on a pure sample of each impurity. High‐quality, high signal‐to‐noise (S/N) one‐ and two‐dimensional NMR data can be obtained using liquid chromatography‐solid phase extraction‐cryoflow NMR (LC‐SPE‐cryoflow NMR) with a combination of semi‐preparative column for separation and mother liquor as a source of concentrated impurities. These NMR data, in conjunction with mass spectrometry data, allowed for quick and unambiguous structural elucidations of four impurities found at low level in the crystallized API but found at appreciable levels in the mother liquor that was used as the source for these impurities. These data show that semi‐preparative columns can be used at lower than ideal flow rates to facilitate trapping of HPLC components for LC‐SPE‐cryoflow NMR analysis without compromising chromatographic resolution. Also, despite the complex chromatography encountered with the use of mother liquor as a source of impurities, acceptably pure analytes were obtained for acquiring NMR data for unambiguous structure elucidations. Biodegradation occurs at the interface between diesel and water. The microbial contamination can result in inhibitor/fuel degradation that leads to the unacceptable level of turbidity, filter plugging, corrosion of storage tanks, pipeline and souring of stored products. Hence, selection of biocides/inhibitors is an important aspect in petroleum product transporting pipeline. Three biocides (cationic and nonionic) were employed to study the biodegradation of diesel in diesel–water interface. The biocidal efficiency on biodegradation of diesel was examined using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) and gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC–MS). Polyoxyethyleneglycol dodecyl ether [BRIJ-35] and polyethylene glycol-p-isooctylphenyl ether [TRITON-X-100] had higher bactericidal efficiency than Dodecyl ethyl dimethyl ammonium bromide [DDAB]. But the cationic biocide (DDAB) gave good biocidal efficiency at the interface. The data are explained in terms of a model that postulates the formation of “micelle” at the diesel–water interface.  相似文献

Conjugated organic nanowires have been prepared by co‐assembling a carboxylate containing low‐molecular weight gelator (LMWG) and an amino acid substituted polythiophene derivative (PTT). Upon introducing the zwitterionic polyelectrolyte PTT to a basic molecular solution of the organogelator, the negative charges on the LMWG are compensated by the positive charges of the PTT. As a result, nanowires form through co‐assembly. These nanowires are visualized by both transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Depending on the concentration and ratio of the components these nanowires can be micrometers long. These measurements further suggest that the aggregates adopt a helical conformation. The morphology of these nanowires are studied with fluorescent confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM). The interactions between LMWG and PTT are characterized by steady‐state and time‐resolved fluorescence spectroscopy studies. The steady‐state spectra indicate that the backbone of the PTT adopts a more planar and more aggregated conformation when interacting with LMWG. The time‐ resolved fluorescence decay studies confirm this interpretation.  相似文献

The atom transfer radical polymerization technique was used to synthesize the poly(methyl methacrylate-block-methacrylic acid) (P(MAA-b-MMA)) copolymer in order to study the aggregation behavior in aqueous solution over the course of neutralization. Combinations of static and dynamic light scattering (SLS, DLS) and potentiometric titration techniques were used to investigate the size and shape of the micelle at various degrees of neutralization (alpha). By comparing the effect of different polymer chain length with similar MMA/MAA ratio on the aggregation behavior during neutralization, we found relatively strong entanglement of long MMA polymer chains. The comparison between the different MMA/MAA ratios showed that longer MMA chains produced more entanglements. Conductometric titration was used to determine the counterion condensation phenomenon during the course of neutralization. At a critical micellar charge density observed at alpha approximately 0.4, Na+ ions are condensed on the polymer chains. The amount of condensed Na+ was evaluated by the conductivity change, yielding the condensation ratio when the polymer was completely neutralized.  相似文献
