Online grocers accept delivery bookings and have to deliver groceries to consumers’ residences. Grocery stores operate on very thin margins. Therefore, a critical question that an online grocery store needs to address is the cost of home delivery operations. In this paper, we develop a Markov decision process-based pricing model that recognizes the need to balance utilization of delivery capacity by the grocer and the need to have the goods delivered at the most convenient time for the customer. The model dynamically adjusts delivery prices as customers arrive and make choices. The optimal prices have the following properties. First, the optimal prices are such that the online grocer gains the same expected payoff in the remaining booking horizon, regardless of the delivery option independently chosen by a consumer. Second, with unit order sizes, delivery prices can increase due to dynamic substitution effects as there is less time left in the booking horizon. 相似文献

Control over supramolecular assemblies of donor and acceptor arrays in nanoscale dimension that facilitate efficient energy transfer resulting in tunable emission is an outstanding challenge. In pursuit of this goal, we have designed a supramolecular donor-acceptor organogel with tunable emission from green to red through controlled energy transfer by simply varying the acceptor concentration. Temperature-dependent UV/vis absorption, XRD, and AFM studies of the coassembly of 1 (donor) and 2 (acceptor) revealed the intercalation of 2 within the self-assembly of 1. Upon excitation of the decane gels of 1 with 0-2 mol % of 2, quenching of the emission of the former at 509 nm with the formation of the monomer emission of the latter at 555 nm is observed. Upon further addition of 2 (2-20 mol %), the emission was continuously red-shifted to 610 nm, which corresponds to the aggregate emission of 2. Consequently, a 98% quenching of the donor emission was observed at 509 nm. Fluorescence microscopic studies provided visual evidence for the color tuning of the FRET emission. Thus efficient trapping of excitons by "isolated" or "aggregated" acceptors through a subtle control of the self-assembly and the photophysical properties of the donor-acceptor building blocks allowed a continuous shifting of the emission color anywhere between green and red (lambdamax, 509-610 nm) in a supramolecular light harvesting system. 相似文献

We report on the quantitative influence of speckles in laser Doppler perfusion imaging. The influence of speckles on the signal amplitude and on the Doppler spectrum is demonstrated experimentally for particle suspensions with different scattering levels and various beam widths. It is shown that the type of tissue affects the instrumental response through the effect of lateral light diffusion on the number of speckles involved in the detection process. We have investigated fast- and slow-mode solitary profiles in a five-component plasma consisting of positively and negatively charged pair ions, hydrogen ions, and hotter and colder electrons. Of these, the heavier ions and colder photoelectrons are of cometary origin while the other components are of solar origin; the electrons are described by kappa distributions. The Zakharov-Kuznetsov (ZK) equation is derived, and solutions for fast- and slow-mode solitary structures are plotted for parameters relevant to comet Halley. We found that the presence of hydrogen ions determines the polarity of the fast- and slow-mode solitary structures. Also, variations of equilibrium number density of hydrogen ions and charge numbers on the heavier pair ions act differently on the fast- and slow-mode solitary structures. The addition of hydrogen ions significantly affects the amplitude of the solitary structures for the fast mode. Further, the cyclotron frequency of the lighter and heavier ions has a noticeable effect on the width of the solitary waves. 相似文献

Sugarcane tops is one of the largest biomass resources in India and in tropical countries such as Brazil in terms of surplus availability. Conversion of this feedstock to ethanol requires pretreatment to make it more accessible for the enzymes used in saccharification. Though several pretreatment regimens have been developed for addressing biomass recalcitrance, very few seem to be promising as an industrial process. A novel hybrid method involving use of mild acid and surfactant was developed which could effectively remove lignin and improve the sugar yield from sugar cane tops. Operational parameters that affect the pretreatment efficiency (measured as yield of sugars) were studied and optimized. Changes in structural properties of the biomass were studied in relation to the pretreatment process using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) analysis, and the changes in chemical composition was also monitored. The biomass pretreated with the optimized novel method could yield 0.798?g of reducing sugars per gram of pretreated biomass upon enzymatic hydrolysis. 相似文献

A novel bimetallic nanoporous FeAl-KIT-5 catalyst with a cage type porous structure and a high surface area has been prepared for the hydroarylation of styrene and arylacetylenes to afford 1,1-diarylalkanes and 1,1-diarylalkenes, respectively. The catalyst was found to be highly active, and selective, affording a high yield of substituted alkanes and alkenes. The crystal structure of cholest-4-ene-3,6-dione (C27H44O2) has been determined by X-ray diffraction methods. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system (space group P21) with the unit cell parameters a = 10.503(4) Å, b = 8.059(1) Å, c = 14.649(1) Å, β = 105.4(2)°, and Z = 2. The structure has been refined to an R value of 0.035 for 2252 observed reflections. Ring A of the steroid nucleus exists in a sofa conformation, while rings B and C adopt a chair conformation. The influence of iodine on the electrical properties of sandwich structures of magnesium phthalocyanine (Mg Pc) thin films
with gold and aluminium electrodes has been investigated. The various electrical properties and different electrical parameters
of the iodine-doped Mg Pc thin film devices have been estimated and compared with the values of normal Mg Pc devices from
the analysis of the current-voltage characteristics. Generally samples showed an asymmetric conductivity both under forward
and reverse bias. From our study we found that iodine doped Mg Pc films showed an enhanced electrical conductivity of nearly
ten times that of typical Mg Pc. At low voltages the films showed an ohmic conduction with a hole concentration of P0 = 6.34 × 1018 m−3 and hole mobility μ = 9.16 × 10−5 m 2 V−1 s−1, whereas at higher voltage levels the conduction is dominated by space charged limited conduction (SCLC) with a discrete
trapping level of 1.33 × 1022 m−3 at 0.63 eV above the valance band edge. The ratio of the free charges to trapped charges (trapping factor) for the doped
samples was found to be 1.07 × 10−7. Furthermore the reverse conduction mechanisms have also been investigated. From the current limitations in the reverse condition
a strong rectifying behaviour was evident which was attributed to Poole-Frankel emission with a field-lowering coefficient
of value 2.24 × 10−5 eV m1/2 V−1/2. 相似文献
