We develop a theory of low energy electron loss spectroscopy of vibrational modes of molecules adsorbed on metal surfaces. Differential and total cross sections are calculated in the Distorted Wave Born Approximation, assuming i) strong elastic scattering on the metal surface, ii) direct electron-molecule interaction via the electric dipole field associated with the molecular vibration. The angular distributions are calculated and discussed for molecules adsorbed at various distances above the metal surface and for several electron energies and impact angles. The influence of electronic screening of dipolar oscillations is discussed and the consequences of the classical induced image dipoles are explored. It is shown that the metal surface selection rule known in IR spectroscopy is only approximately valid in electron scattering. Finally, we give numerical estimates of the inelastic scattering cross sections for the stretching vibrations of CO molecule adsorbed on transition metal surfaces, in reasonable agreement with experiments.  相似文献

A thermodynamic analysis of the interaction between fourteen different molar mass poly(ethylene oxide)s (PEO) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) based on the measured surfactant-binding isotherms is given. The surfactant-binding isotherms were determined by the potentiometric method in the presence of 0.1 M inert electrolyte (NaBr). It was found that there is no PEO/SDS complex formation if M(PEO) < 1000. In the molecular weight range 1000 < M(PEO) < 8000, the critical aggregation concentration (cac) and the surfactant aggregation number are decreasing as the polymer molecular weight increases. The saturated bound surfactant amount is proportional to the number concentration of the polymer in this molecular weight range. If M(PEO) exceeds approximately 8000, the cac does not depend on the polymer molar mass, and the saturated bound amount of the surfactant becomes proportional to the mass concentration of the polymer. It was also observed that independently of the polymer molecular weight the surfactant aggregation number increases as the equilibrium surfactant monomer concentration increases from the cac to the critical micellar concentration (cmc). Finally, it was demonstrated that only one polymer molecule is involved in the complex formation independently of the polymer molecular weight.  相似文献

Compounds of the type CsLn(SO4)2, (Ln=La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu) were prepared at 300°C. IR spectra were recorded in the range 4,000-250cm–1 and tentatively assigned. The number of observed bands exceeds the predicted number by site symmetry selection rules. Streching bands show bathochromic shifts whereas the deformations exibit hypsochromic shifts on going to heavier lanthanides. At the same time there is an increased splitting of these bands in the same direction. All these facts indicate an increased coupling in the layer structure which is in accordance with the lanthanide contraction.

Semiautomatic and automatic amperometry and constant-current potentiometry were used to follow the course of catalytic titration of gold(III) with potassium iodide. The Ce(IV)-As(III) system in the presence of sulfuric acid was used as the indicator reaction. The possibilities of the application of two types of graphite electrodes were investigated. The effect of concentration of the indicator reaction components, and the presence of organic solvents and acids on the shape of the catalytic titration curves was studied. Amounts of 80–900 μg of gold(III) were determined with a relative standard deviation less than 1.1%. The results obtained are in good agreement with those of comparable methods.  相似文献

The radon concentration in the air and water of the Bizovac spa was measured by the Radhome silicon detector and the average values were obtained as 70 Bq/m3 in the indoor pool, 40 Bq/m3 in the hotel room, 135 Bq/m3 in the closed therapeutic bathroom, but the geothermal water had a Rn concentration of 25.3 kBq/m3 and the potable one 2.7 kBq/m3. The Rn transfer factor (f) from water to air in the indoor pool and therapeutic bathroom was 10 and 40 times higher than for normal dwellings (f n=10–4), respectively. The effective equivalent dose of inhaled radon for permanent personnel under the worst conditions in the spa was 5.4 mSv/y, but visitors spending two weeks in the spa could receive the dose of 77 Sv.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of poly(3-dodecyl-thiophene) (PDDT) irradiated by -beams have been studied by measuring the magnetic susceptibility and EPR spectra. The irradiated PDDT is characterized, similarly as the non-irradiated one, by an antiferromagnetic course of magnetic susceptibility with a Néel temperature of 237 K. It is suggested that the antiferromagnetic properties of PDDT are caused by transformation of polarons to bipolarons, which takes place at lower temperatures.  相似文献

Conclusion In the present report an attempt has been made to use the second derivative method for measurements of the electron distribution function in flowing afterglow plasma. It has been shown that using the cross-correlation technique, this method seems to be a useful tool for flowing afterglow plasma investigation.  相似文献

Summary An electrical assembly for the oxygen-flask combustion of lubricants and similar petroleum products is described. The pyrolysis is performed in two consecutive steps. After the ignition and burning of the sample (sorbed on sodium carbonate) the combustion is completed by further heating. The sample weight should not exceed 140 mg. In this way the sensitivity of phosphorus determination of the tentative IP standard procedure is enhanced from 0.01 to 0.001% phosphorus if the volume of solution for the final spectrophotometric measurement is reduced.
Zusammenfassung Ein elektrisches Gerät für die Verbrennung von Schmierölen und ähnlichen Erdölprodukten im Schöniger-Kolben wurde beschrieben. Die Pyrolyse erfolgt in zwei aufeinander folgenden Schritten. Nach der Entflammung der an Natriumcarbonat adsorbierten Probe und nach Erlöschen der Flamme erfolgt die vollständige Verbrennung von Einwaagen, die 140 mg nicht überschreiten. So konnte die Empfindlichkeit der Phosphorbestimmung nach der tentativen IP-Standardmethode von 0,01% auf 0,001% Phosphor gesteigert werden, wenn man die spektrophotometrische Messung mit vermindertem Lösungsvolumen durchführt.

Thermochemical and thermodynamical properties of HTSC phases are reviewed for the Y-Ba-Cu-O system and also presented for the newly calculated Bi-Sr-Cu-O system stressing out stoichiometric and phenomenological viewpoints. Simulated data are listed for (H 298 o -H o o , phase transformation temperatures, standard entropies, standard enthalpies of formation, heat capacities in crystalline phase, etc. Pseudobinary phase diagrams are treated showing the effect of oxygen partial pressure particularly illustrated on the (Sr, Bi, Ba)-Cu-O system.The work was carried out under the project No. A 2010532 supported by the Grant Agency of Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and the grant No. 104/97/0589 financed by the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic.  相似文献

For a number of fractions and unfractionated samples of polylaurolactam, molecular weights (Mw = 1 × 104?12·5 × 104) were measured by the light-scattering method in a mixed solvent of m-cresol with 60 vol. % 2,2,3,3-tetrafluoropropanol; intrinsic viscosities were determined in m-cresol and 96% H2SO4, and the constants of the Mark-Houwink equation were calculated. The calculated values of the characteristic ratio of unperturbed dimensions (virtually identical for m-cresol and 96% H2SO4) were compared with the respective values for polypyrrolidone and polycaprolactam. It was found that the higher frequency of the CONH-groups reduces the rigidity of the polyamide chain.  相似文献
