The number of studies on organic–inorganic hybrid perovskites has soared in recent years. However, the majority of hybrid perovskites under investigation are based on a limited number of organic cations of suitable sizes, such as methylammonium and formamidinium. These small cations easily fit into the perovskite's three‐dimensional (3D) lead halide framework to produce semiconductors with excellent charge transport properties. Until now, larger cations, such as ethylammonium, have been found to form 2D crystals with lead halide. Here we show for the first time that ethylammonium can in fact be incorporated coordinately with methylammonium in the lattice of a 3D perovskite thanks to a balance of opposite lattice distortion strains. This inclusion results in higher crystal symmetry, improved material stability, and markedly enhanced charge carrier lifetime. This crystal engineering strategy of balancing opposite lattice distortion effects vastly increases the number of potential choices of organic cations for 3D perovskites, opening up new degrees of freedom to tailor their optoelectronic and environmental properties. 相似文献

Electrochemical sensing has established a strong presence in diverse areas. The conventional electrochemical sensing approach consumes large sample volumes and reagents and requires bulky potentiostat, macro-electrodes, and other equipment. The synergistic integration of electrochemical sensing systems with miniaturized or microfluidic electrochemical devices and microelectrodes in a single platform provides rapid analysis with a disposable, reusable, and cost-effective platform for multiplexed point-of-care detections. Such microdevices have created scope for using several materials as electrodes and sensing platforms by using appropriate fabrication techniques. One of the most recent advancements in miniaturized devices includes the integration of automation and Internet of Things to realize fully automated and robust electrochemical microdevices. The review summarizes the emerging trends in fabrication methods of miniaturized and microfluidic devices, their multiple applications in real-time, integration of Internet of Things, automation, identifying research gaps with strategies for bridging these gaps, future outlook, and recent approaches to intelligent electrochemical sensing. 相似文献

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common cancers worldwide. One of its subtypes is associated with defective mismatch repair (dMMR) genes. Saffron has many potentially protective roles against colon malignancy. However, these roles in the context of dMMR tumors have not been explored. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of saffron and its constituents in CRC cell lines with dMMR. Methods: Saffron crude extracts and specific compounds (safranal and crocin) were used in the human colorectal cancer cell lines HCT116, HCT116+3 (inserted MLH1), HCT116+5 (inserted MSH3), and HCT116+3+5 (inserted MLH1 and MSH3). CDC25b, p-H2AX, TPDP1, and GAPDH were analyzed by Western blot. Proliferation and cytotoxicity were analyzed by MTT. The scratch wound assay was also performed. Results: Saffron crude extracts restricted (up to 70%) the proliferation in colon cells with deficient MMR (HCT116) compared to proficient MMR. The wound healing assay indicates that deficient MMR cells are doing better (up to 90%) than proficient MMR cells when treated with saffron. CDC25b and TDP1 downregulated (up to 20-fold) in proficient MMR cells compared to deficient MMR cells, while p.H2AX was significantly upregulated in both cell types, particularly at >10 mg/mL saffron in a concentration-dependent manner. The reduction in cellular proliferation was accompanied with upregulation of caspase 3 and 7. The major active saffron compounds, safranal and crocin reproduced most of the saffron crude extracts’ effects. Conclusions: Saffron’s anti-proliferative effect is significant in cells with deficient MMR. This novel effect may have therapeutic implications and benefits for MSI CRC patients who are generally not recommended for the 5-fluorouracil-based treatment. 相似文献

This article reviews and summarizes work recently performed in this laboratory on the synthesis of advanced transparent conducting oxide nanopowders by the use of plasma. The nanopowders thus synthesized include indium tin oxide (ITO), zinc oxide (ZnO) and tin-doped zinc oxide (TZO), aluminum-doped zinc oxide (AZO), and indium-doped zinc oxide (IZO). These oxides have excellent transparent conducting properties, among other useful characteristics. ZnO and TZO also has photocatalytic properties. The synthesis of these materials started with the selection of the suitable precursors, which were injected into a non-transferred thermal plasma and vaporized followed by vapor-phase reactions to form nanosized oxide particles. The products were analyzed by the use of various advanced instrumental analysis techniques, and their useful properties were tested by different appropriate methods. The thermal plasma process showed a considerable potential as an efficient technique for synthesizing oxide nanopowders. This process is also suitable for large scale production of nano-sized powders owing to the availability of high temperatures for volatilizing reactants rapidly, followed by vapor phase reactions and rapid quenching to yield nano-sized powder. 相似文献

Summary: This paper describes a simple and facile approach to fabricate well dispersed silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in poly[N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐(sodium acrylate)] hydrogels. The silver nanoparticles formed are spherical in shape with a narrow size distribution in the hydrogel networks in which the nanoparticles are stabilized by the polymer network. Uniformly dispersed silver nanoparticles were obtained with poly[N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐[sodium acrylate)] hydrogels, whereas a poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide)/poly(sodium acrylate) IPN gel showed aggregated nanoparticles. It is demonstrated that the hydrogel network structure determines the size and shape of the nanoparticles. These particles are more stable in the gel networks compared to other reduction methods. The hydrogel/silver nanohybrids were well characterized by XRD, UV‐vis spectrometry, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy.

Oral cancer is a major cause of mortality in South Asian men owing to rampant tobacco abuse. Cancers are also reported in non‐tobacco habitués, especially women, attributed to chronic irritations from irregular/sharp teeth, improper fillings, and poorly fit dentures. Conventional screening approaches are shown to be effective for high‐risk groups (tobacco/alcohol habitués). Raman spectroscopy (RS) is being extensively explored as an alternate/adjunct tool for diagnosis and management of oral cancers. In a previous Raman study on sequential oral carcinogenesis using hamster buccal pouch model, misclassifications between spectra from control and carcinogen [7,12‐dimethylbenz(a)anthracene (DMBA)]‐treated tissues were observed. Histopathology of some control tissues suggested pathological changes, attributable to repeated forceps‐induced irritations/trauma during animal handling. To explore these changes, in the present study, we recorded spectra from three different types of controls – vehicle control (n = 45), vehicle contralateral (n = 45), and DMBA contralateral (n = 70) – exposed to varying degree of forceps handling, along with DMBA‐treated pouches (n = 70) using a 14‐week carcinogenesis protocol. Spectra certified on the basis of histopathology and abnormal cell proliferation (cyclin D1 expression) were used to build models that were evaluated by independent test spectra from an exclusive set of DMBA‐treated and control animals. Many DMBA‐contralateral, vehicle‐control, and vehicle‐contralateral spectra were identified as higher pathologies, which subsequently corroborated with histopathology/cyclin D1 expression. Repeated forceps‐mediated injuries/irritations, during painting and animal handling, may elicit inflammatory responses, leading to neoplasm. The findings of the study suggest that RS could identify micro‐changes. Further, RS‐based in vivo imaging can serve as a promising label‐free tool for screening even in the non‐habitué population where conventional screening is shown to be not effective.
