The diffusion-limited reaction A+AA+B is studied in general dimension. The asymptotic decay of the system is found to depend nontrivially upon the initial concentration of A particles for certain ranges of the diffusion constant, backward reaction rate, and total concentration of particles. This nonequilibrium behavior is due to the formation of clusters centered about the initial A particles. A perturbative analysis ind=1 shows that the transition to the nonequilibrium dynamics is sharp and is quite similar to another previously studied reaction A+AA. Ford>1, a scaling argument is presented which describes the dependence of the asymptotic decay on the initial concentration of A particles and the equilibrium concentration for large backward reaction rates. Monte Carlo data are shown which confirm the analytic work ind=1, 2, and 3.  相似文献

Carotenoids have been implicated in protection of the eye from light-mediated photo-toxicity caused by free radicals. Under conditions of normal oxidative stress the carotenoids serve as protective antioxidants; however, when the oxidative stress exceeds the antioxidant capacity, carotenoids can be oxidized into numerous cleavage products. The determination and identification of oxidized carotenoids in biological samples remains a major challenge due to the small sample size and low stability of these compounds. We investigated the reaction of various zeaxanthin cleavage products with O-ethyl hydroxylamine to evaluate their levels in a biological sample. For this, a sensitive and specific electrospray tandem mass spectrometry (ESI-MS/MS) was developed, avoiding the classical lower sensitive and specific HPLC-UV and fluorescence absorption methods. Protonated molecules [M + H](+) of carotenoids upon collision-induced dissociation produced a number of structurally characteristic product ions. A series of complicated clusters of product ions differing in 14 (CH(2))and 26 (C(2)H(2))Da was characteristic of the polyene chain of intact carotenoids. All carotenoid ethyl oximes of zeaxanthin cleavage products were characterized by the losses of 60 and 61 Da in their MS/MS spectra. Through the application of the LC/MS/MS method, we identified two oxime derivatives of 3-hydroxy-beta-ionone and 3-hydroxy-14'-apocarotenal with protonated molecules at m/z 252 and m/z 370 respectively, in a human eye sample.  相似文献

A suite of torbernites and metatorbernites have been analysed by near-infrared spectroscopy. The spectra of torbernites and metatorbernites in the first HOH fundamental overtone are different and the spectra of torbernites of different origins in the 6000-7500 cm(-1) region vary. NIR spectroscopy provides a method of studying the hydration of cations in the interlayer of torbernite. NIR spectroscopy shows that the spectra of torbernites from different origins in the water HOH first fundamental overtone and combination regions are different. This difference implies the hydration of cations is different for torbernite minerals. The structural arrangement of the water molecules in the interlayer is sample dependent. The NIR spectra of metatorbernites are different from that of torbernites and a similarity of the spectra of metatorbernites suggests that the water structure in metatorbernites is similar.  相似文献

Analogy and deuterium labeling demonstrate that considerable remote group interaction occurs between functional groups at positions 7 and 16 in 16, 17-secosteroids. It is proposed that ion-dipole interact?ions separations of distances of 10 to 2 Å will involve energies of 1–30 kcal mol?1 and can play a significant role in fragmentation processes. Successive loss of one, two and three HOAc molecules from a milecular or daughter ion increase progressively in relative intensity; irregularity in this pattern indicates the operation of special factors or multiple genesis of daughter ions having the same m/e. Evidence is presented which suggests that facile ketene ejection from the acetate functional group only occurs from a radical ion and must be preceded by transfer of a hydrogen radical from the acetate group to the site of charge localization.  相似文献

The singlet potential-energy surface for the N(2D)+CH2F(2A') reaction has been studied employing both second-order M?ller-Plesset and density-functional theories. The energies of the involved species have been refined using the Gaussian-2, complete basis set, and coupled-cluster singles and doubles (triples) methods. The reaction proceeds through the formation of an initial intermediate, which does not involve any activation barrier. Based on the energy profile for the singlet potential-energy surface, the preferred product should be the most exothermic one, namely, HCN+HF, followed by HNC+HF and FCN+H2. This result seems in contradiction with a computational study of the kinetics of the title reaction in terms of the statistical theories, which leads to the prediction that the production of HNC+HF should be the dominant channel. Consequently, a limited molecular-dynamics study has been carried out, concluding that in fact the system behaves in a nonstatistical way. According to the molecular-dynamics study, the most exothermic channel, HCN+HF, should be the dominant one. An analysis of the possible role of the singlet surface in the reaction of N(4S) with CH2F(2A') has also been carried out. The computational study shows that the microcanonical coefficients for the nonadiabatic channels are much smaller than the competing adiabatic ones. Therefore, the reaction of N(4S) with CH2F(2A') should proceed on the triplet surface without spin change.  相似文献

Controlled rate thermal analysis (CRTA) allows the separation of adsorbed and intercalated hydrazine. CRTA displays the presence of three different types of hydrogen-bonded hydrazine in the intercalation complex: (a) The first is adsorbed loosely bonded on the kaolinite structure fully expanded by hydrazine-hydrate and liberated between approx 50 and 70 degrees C (b) The second intercalated hydrazine is lost between approx 70 and 85 degrees C. (c) The third type of intercalated-hydrazine molecule is lost in the 85-130 degrees C range. CRTA at 70 degrees C enables the removal of hydrazine-water and results in the partial collapse of the hydrazine-intercalated kaolinite structure to form a hydrazine-intercalated kaolinite. Removal of the adsorbed hydrazine enables the DRIFT spectra of the hydrazine-intercalated complex without any adsorbed hydrazine to be obtained. A band at 3626 cm(-1) attributed to the inner surface hydroxyls of kaolinite hydrogen bonded to hydrazine is observed. The intercalation of hydrazine-hydrate into kaolinite is complex and results from the different types of surface interactions of the hydrazine with the kaolinite surfaces.  相似文献

Summary Due to growing environmental concerns and the need to use less energy-intensive building products, alternatives and improvements to Portland cement (PC) are being actively researched worldwide. Use of supplementary materials is now a common practice where PC is the predominant component of inorganic building products. This study aims to investigate the potential of magnesia (MgO), derived from a naturally occurring raw material magnesite, as a supplementary material. Results from mortar samples prepared with 10 and 20% replacements of ordinary Portland cement (OPC) by MgO are presented. DTA-TG was used to study and characterise the hydration behaviour of MgO in OPC environment after 3, 7, 14, 28, 56 and 90 days of moist curing. Microstructural and compressive strength determinations providing additional information on the influence of hydrated phases are also reported.  相似文献
