The determination of strain fields based on displacement components obtained via 2D-DIC is subject to several errors that originate from various sources. In this contribution, we study the impact of a non-perpendicular camera alignment to a planar sheet metal specimen's surface. The errors are estimated in a numerical experiment. To this purpose, deformed images - that were obtained by imposing finite element (FE) displacement fields on an undeformed image - are numerically rotated for various Euler angles. It is shown that a 3D-DIC stereo configuration induces a substantial compensation for the introduced image-plane displacement gradients. However, higher strain accuracy and precision are obtained - up to the level of a perfect perpendicular alignment - in a proposed “rectified” 2D-DIC setup. This compensating technique gains benefit from both 2D-DIC (single camera view, basic amount of correlation runs, no cross-camera matching nor triangulation) and 3D-DIC (oblique angle compensation). Our conclusions are validated in a real experiment on SS304.  相似文献

Nonlinear Elastic Wave Spectroscopy (NEWS) relies on the activation of defects by wave energy that propagates through the medium. In general, the response of activated defects will not scale linearly with the excitation amplitude, and the resulting nonlinear signatures can be identified and used for quality inspection. The efficiency of NEWS based inspection methods is therefore intrinsically linked to the locally deposited activation energy at the defect zone and the ability to generate nonlinear signatures that exceed the noise level of acquisition. Time Reversal techniques allow focusing of high levels of energy in small areas, and are consequently very useful for the local activation of defected zones. In this report, numerical simulations are reported showing the potential of a combination consisting of dual energy reciprocal Time Reversal and nonlinearity filtering using the Scaling Subtraction Method. The method is applied to the detection of planar near-surface defects parallel to the surface in a 2D domain. The results are evaluated for sweep excitation at different frequency ranges; for point-like receiver as well as extended transducers, and for in-plane as well as out-of-plane focusing. The observable nonlinear response at the surface is linked to an effective nonlinearity within the medium based on the defect geometry and the distribution of the local stresses.  相似文献

Apatite type rare earth silicates are being extensively studied as electrolyte material for intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC). In this paper we presents results on synthesis of Al and/or Fe-doped ATLS, the design of compatible anode materials, thermal expansion properties and co-sintering of half-cells from expansion matched materials using the advanced pulsed electric current sintering (PECS) technique. The issues related to the co-sintering of half cells have been addressed successfully by the combined use of nano powders and PECS.  相似文献

Using a 7.5 μm diameter disk fabricated with III-V-on-silicon fabrication technology, we demonstrate bias-free all-optical wavelength conversion for non-return-to-zero on-off keyed pseudorandom bit sequence (PRBS) data at the speed of 10 Gbits/s with an extinction ratio of more than 12 dB. The working principle of such a wavelength converter is based on free-carrier-induced refractive index modulation in a pump-probe configuration. We believe it to be the first bias-free on-chip demonstration of all-optical wavelength conversion using PRBS data. All-optical gating measurements in the pump-probe configuration with the same device have revealed that it is possible to achieve wavelength conversion beyond 20 Gbits/s.  相似文献

A series of iron- and/or aluminium-doped apatite-type lanthanum silicates (ATLS) La9.83Si6 ‐ x ‐ yAlxFeyO26 ± δ (x = 0, 0.25, 0.75, and 1.5, y = 0, 0.25, 0.75, and 1.5) were synthesized using the mechanochemical activation (MA), solid state reaction (SSR), Pechini (Pe) and sol-gel (SG) methods. The total conductivity of the prepared materials was measured under air in the temperature range 600-850 °C using 4-probe AC impedance spectroscopy. Its dependence on composition, synthesis method, sintering conditions and powder particle size was investigated. It was found that for electrolytes of the same composition, those prepared via mechanochemical activation exhibited the highest total specific conductivity, which was improved with increasing Al- and decreasing Fe-content. The highest conductivity value at 700 °C, equal to 2.04 × 10− 2 S cm− 1, was observed for the La9.83Si5Al0.75Fe0.25O26 ± δ electrolyte. La9.83Si4.5Fe1.5O26 ± δ electrolyte samples synthesized using the Pechini method exhibited higher conductivity when sintered conventionally than when spark-plasma sintering (SPS) was used.  相似文献

Papers have a complex hierarchical structure and the end-user functionalities such as hydrophobicity are controlled by a finishing layer. The application of an organic nanoparticle coating and drying of the aqueous dispersion results in an unique surface morphology with microscale domains that are internally patterned with nanoparticles. Better understanding of the multi-scale surface roughness patterns is obtained by monitoring the topography with non-contact profilometry (NCP) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) at different sampling areas ranging from 2000 μm × 2000 μm to 0.5 μm × 0.5 μm. The statistical roughness parameters are uniquely related to each other over the different measuring techniques and sampling sizes, as they are purely statistically determined. However, they cannot be directly extrapolated over the different sampling areas as they represent transitions at the nano-, micro-to-nano and microscale level. Therefore, the spatial roughness parameters including the correlation length and the specific frequency bandwidth should be taken into account for each measurement, which both allow for direct correlation of roughness data at different sampling sizes.  相似文献

We consider wave solutions to nonlinear sigma models in n dimensions. First, we reduce the system of governing PDEs into a system of ODEs through a traveling wave assumption. Under a new transform, we then reduce this system into a single nonlinear ODE. Making use of the method of homotopy analysis, we are able to construct approximate analytical solutions to this nonlinear ODE. We apply two distinct auxiliary linear operators and show that one of these permits solutions with lower residual error than the other. This demonstrates the effectiveness of properly selecting the auxiliary linear operator when performing homotopy analysis of a nonlinear problem. From here, we then obtain residual error‐minimizing values of the convergence control parameter. We find that properly selecting the convergence control parameter makes a drastic difference in the magnitude of the residual error. Together, appropriate selection of the auxiliary linear operator and of the convergence control parameter is shown to allow approximate solutions that quickly converge to the true solution, which means that few terms are needed in the construction of such solution. We investigate the value of accounting for demand seasonality in inventory control. Our problem is motivated by discussions with retailers who admitted to not taking perceived seasonality patterns into account in their replenishment systems. We consider a single-location, single-item periodic review lost sales inventory problem with seasonal demand in a retail environment. Customer demand has seasonality with a known season length, the lead time is shorter than the review period and orders are placed as multiples of a fixed batch size. The cost structure comprises of a fixed cost per order, a cost per batch, and a unit variable cost to model retail handling costs. We consider four different settings which differ in the degree of demand seasonality that is incorporated in the model: with or without within-review period variations and with or without across-review periods variations. In each case, we calculate the policy which minimizes the long-run average cost and compute the optimality gaps of the policies which ignore part or all demand seasonality. We find that not accounting for demand seasonality can lead to substantial optimality gaps, yet incorporating only some form of demand seasonality does not always lead to cost savings. We apply the problem to a real life setting, using Point-of-Sales data from a European retailer. We show that a simple distinction between weekday and weekend sales can lead to major cost reductions without greatly increasing the complexity of the retailer’s automatic store ordering system. Our analysis provides valuable insights on the tradeoff between the complexity of the automatic store ordering system and the benefits of incorporating demand seasonality.  相似文献
