We provide proper mapping-characterizations of some embedding-like properties weaker than -embedding. For instance, we show that a subset A of a space X is -embedded in X if and only if for every continuous map g: A → Y into a Banach space Y of weight w(Y) ⩽ λ, there exists a continuous set-valued mapping φ of X into the nonempty compact subsets of Y such that g is a selection for φ∣A (i.e., g(x) ∈ φ(x) for every x ∈ A). On the other hand, we show that a subset A is C*-embedded in X if and only if for every continuous set-valued mapping φ of X into the non-empty compact subsets of a Banach space Y, every continuous selection g: A → Y for φ∣A is continuously extendable to the whole of X. Combining both results we get the well-known mapping-characterization of -embedding which makes more transparent the relation ‘’. We extend the Novikov Morse-type inequalities for closed 1-forms in 2 directions. First, we consider manifolds with boundary. Second, we allow a very degenerate structure of the critical set of the form, assuming only that the form is non-degenerated in the sense of Kirwan. In particular, we obtain a generalization of a result of Floer about the usual Morse inequalities on a manifold with boundary. We also obtain an equivariant version of our inequalities.
Our proof is based on an application of the Witten deformation technique. The main novelty here is that we consider the neighborhood of the critical set as a manifold with a cylindrical end. This leads to a considerable simplification of the local analysis. In particular, we obtain a new analytic proof of the Morse-Bott inequalities on a closed manifold.

We study the system of a 2D rigid body moving in an unbounded volume of incompressible, vortex-free perfect fluid which is at rest at infinity. The body is equipped with a gyrostat and a so-called Flettner rotor. Due to the latter the body is subject to a lifting force (Magnus effect). The rotational velocities of the gyrostat and the rotor are assumed to be known functions of time (control inputs). The equations of motion are presented in the form of the Kirchhoff equations. The integrals of motion are given in the case of piecewise continuous control. Using these integrals we obtain a (reduced) system of first-order differential equations on the configuration space. Then an optimal control problem for several types of the inputs is solved using genetic algorithms. 相似文献

Many phenomena in mathematical physics and in the theory of stochastic processes are recently described through fractional evolution equations. We investigate a general framework for connections between ordinary non-homogeneous equations in Banach spaces and fractional Cauchy problems. When the underlying operator generates a strongly continuous semigroup, it is known, using a subordination argument, that the fractional evolution equation is well posed. A continuous zero-selection f for the Vietoris hyperspace F(X) of the nonempty closed subsets of a space X is a Vietoris continuous map f:F(X)→X which assigns to every nonempty closed subset an isolated point of it. It is well known that a compact space X has a continuous zero-selection if and only if it is an ordinal space, or, equivalently, if X can be mapped onto an ordinal space by a continuous one-to-one surjection. This work combines two complementary strategies for solving the steady incompressible Navier–Stokes model with a zeroth‐order term, namely, a stabilized finite element method and a mesh–refinement approach based on an error estimator. First, equal order interpolation spaces are adopted to approximate both the velocity and the pressure while stability is recovered within the stabilization approach. Also designed to handle advection dominated flows under zeroth‐order term influence, the stabilized method incorporates a new parameter with a threefold asymptotic behavior. Mesh adaptivity driven by a new hierarchical error estimator and built on the stabilized method is the second ingredient. The estimator construction process circumvents the saturation assumption by using an enhancing space strategy which is shown to be equivalent to the error.
