Preparation of chitosan functionalized end‐capped Ag‐NPs and composited with Fe3O4‐NPs: Controlled release to pH‐responsive delivery of progesterone and antibacterial activity against pseudomonas aeruginosa (PAO‐1)

In this work, functionalized chitosan end‐capped Ag nanoparticles (NPs) and composited with Fe₃O₄‐NPs was prepared as pH‐responsive controlled release carrier for gastric‐specific drug delivery. The structure of prepared material was characterized by FE‐SEM, XRD, EDS and FT‐IR analysis. The loading behavior of the progesterone onto this novel material was studied in aqueous medium at 25°C and their release was followed spectrophotometrically at 37°C in seven different buffer solutions (pH 1.2, 2.2, 3.2, 4.2, 5.2, 6.2 and 7.2) to simulate intestine and gastric media which experimental results reveal more release rate in pH 1.2 (gastric medium) with respect to other buffers. This observation is attributed to dependency of the CS‐IMBDO‐Ag‐Fe₃O₄‐NPs and progesterone structure with buffer pH that candidate this new material as prospective pH‐sensitive carrier for gastric‐targeted drug delivery. On the other hand, the antibacterial properties of this material against gram‐negative bacterium pseudomonas aeruginosa (PAO‐1) in agar plates was studied and accordingly based on broth micro dilution the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) with respect to standard CLSI in different concentrations of CS‐IMBDO‐Ag‐Fe₃O₄‐NPs was calculated. The results reveal that MIC and MBC values are 50 and 1250 μg/mL, respectively. In addition, extracts of Portulaca oleracea leaves was prepared and its antibacterial activity in single and binary system with CS‐IMBDO‐Ag‐Fe₃O₄‐NPs as synergies effect against PAO‐1 was tested and results shown that these materials have significant synergistic effect for each other.     

Hybrid Proximal Point Algorithm and Applications to Equilibrium Problems and Convex Programming

The problem of finding minima of weakly sequentially lower semicontinuous functions on reflexive Banach spaces is studied by means of convex and nonconvex subdifferentials. Finding a descent direction for a non-stationary point is a question of importance for many optimization algorithms. The existence or non-existence of such a direction is clarified through several theorems and a series of selective examples. For the general problem, a notion called radius of descent is proposed and shown to be useful for the analysis related to descent directions.     

Design and optimization of high-performance microring-based uni-traveling carrier photodiode for WDM optical systems

This paper presents the design principles of a novel optimized microring-based uni-traveling carrier photodiode (MR-UTC-PD), for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical systems. The fundamental parameters for output characteristics such as quantum efficiency and 3-dB bandwidth of MR-UTC-PD are discussed. We analyze the effects of basic parameters as effective ring radius, definite coupling condition and the suitable cross section on the MR-UTC-PD main characteristics for high performance of the device. It is shown that the maximum quantum efficiency and most efficient performance of the device can be obtained at critical coupling condition. We show that the maximum 3-dB bandwidth and an efficient approach for high bandwidth-efficiency product can be achieved at overcoupling condition. In this regard, some design curves are presented for the optimized MR-UTC-PD.     

Effective Mass of Radion via GW Mechanism with a Non-Minimally Coupled Bulk Scalar Field

In the Randall-Sundrum braneworld scenario via the Goldberger-Wise mechanism, the effective mass of 4D radion, where the bulk scalar field is coupled to 5D gravity, has been investigated in two different case of the self-coupling constants, infinite and finite cases. It is shown that in the finite case, the modulus parameter should be greater than the finite coupling constants.     

Use of nanoporous Na+-montmorillonite sulfonic acid (SANM) as an eco-benign, efficient and reusable solid acid catalyst for the one-pot synthesis of 14-aryl-14-H-dibenzo[a,j]xanthenes and 1,8-dioxo-dodecahydroxanthene derivatives

Nanoporous Na⁺-montmorillonite sulfonic acid was found to be an efficient and green catalyst for the synthesis of various 14-aryl-14H-dibenzo[a,j]xanthenes and 1,8-dioxo-dodecahydroxanthene derivatives by the reaction of aldehydes with 2-naphthol and 1,3-cyclohexanedione, respectively. This novel synthetic method has the advantages of high yields, short reaction times and recyclability of the catalyst, simplicity and easy workup compared to the conventional methods reported in the literature.

Reaction of 2-mercaptopropargylquinazoline-4-one with various aryliodides catalyzed by Pd–Cu leads to the regioselective formation of 1-arylsubstituted-5H-[1,3]thiazolo-[3,2-a]quinazoline-5-ones.

Synthesis of 2‐Aryl‐5‐oxo‐4‐[2‐(phenylmethylidene)hydrazino]‐2,5‐dihydro‐1H‐pyrrole‐3‐carboxylates by the Reaction between Hydrazones,Acetylenedicarboxylates, and 1‐Aryl‐N,N′‐bis(arylmethylidene)methanediamines

An efficient approach for the preparation of functionalized 2‐aryl‐2,5‐dihydro‐5‐oxo‐4‐[2‐(phenylmethylidene)hydrazino]‐1H‐pyrroles is described. The four‐component reaction between aldehydes, NH₂NH₂?H₂O, dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates, and 1‐aryl‐N,N′‐bis(arylmethylidene)methanediamines proceeds in EtOH under reflux in good‐to‐excellent yields (Scheme 1). The structures of 4 were corroborated spectroscopically (IR, ¹H‐ and ¹³C‐NMR, and EI‐MS, and, in the case of 4f , by X‐ray crystallography). A plausible mechanism for this type of reaction is proposed (Scheme 2).
