Neutrino condensate as origin of dark energy

We propose a new solution to the origin of dark energy. We suggest that it was created dynamically from the condensate of a singlet neutrino at a late epoch of the early Universe through its effective self-interaction. This singlet neutrino is also the Dirac partner of one of the three observed neutrinos, hence dark energy is related to neutrino mass. The onset of this condensate formation in the early Universe is also related to matter density and offers an explanation of the coincidence problem of why dark energy (70%) and total matter (30%) are comparable at the present time. We demonstrate this idea in a model of neutrino mass with (right-handed) singlet neutrinos and a singlet scalar.     

An efficient route to coumarin derivatives under dual catalysis,an organo- and a Lewis acid catalyst

An efficient reaction of dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylate with various o-hydroxy aromatic aldehydes under dual catalysis with piperidine and FeCl₃ in refluxing toluene afforded alkyl 2-oxo-2-(2-oxo-2H-chromen-3-yl) acetates in good to excellent yield. The advantages of this reaction include the use of easily available starting materials, one-pot reaction, mild reaction conditions and operational simplicity.     

A study toward understanding the role of a phosphorus stereogenic center in (5S)-1,3-diaza-2-phospha-2-oxo-3-phenylbicyclo(3.3.0)octane derivatives as catalysts in the borane-mediated asymmetric reduction of prochiral ketones

Representative diastereomeric pairs of chiral catalysts, containing the (5S)-1,3-diaza-2-phospha-2-oxo-3-phenylbicyclo(3.3.0)octane moiety, with different stereochemistry at the phosphorus stereogenic center, have been synthesized and their stereoselection in the borane-mediated asymmetric reduction of representative prochiral ketones has been described.     

Phenomenology of Λ-CDM Model: A?Possibility of?Accelerating Universe with Positive Pressure

Among various phenomenological Λ models, a time-dependent model [(L)\dot] ~ H³\dot{\Lambda}\sim H^{3} is selected here to investigate the Λ-CDM cosmology. The model can follow from dynamics, underlying the origin of Λ. Using this model the expressions for the time-dependent equation of state parameter ω and other physical parameters are derived. It is shown that in H ³ model accelerated expansion of the Universe takes place at negative energy density, but with a positive pressure. It has also been possible to obtain the change of sign of the deceleration parameter q during cosmic evolution.     

Superluminal neutrinos at OPERA confront pion decay kinematics

Violation of Lorentz invariance (VLI) has been suggested as an explanation of the superluminal velocities of muon neutrinos reported by OPERA. In this Letter, we show that the amount of VLI required to explain this result poses severe difficulties with the kinematics of the pion decay, extending its lifetime and reducing the momentum carried away by the neutrinos. We show that the OPERA experiment limits α=(ν(ν)-c)/c<4×10(-6). We then take recourse to cosmic-ray data on the spectrum of muons and neutrinos generated in Earth's atmosphere to provide a stronger bound on VLI: (ν-c)/c<10(-12).     

3,4-Dihydro-2H-pyran promoted aerobic oxidative aromatization of 1,3,5-trisubstituted pyrazolines and Hantzsch 1,4-dihydropyridines

An unprecedented facile oxidation of 1,3,5-trisubstituted pyrazolines and Hantzsch 1,4-dihydropyridines (DHPs) to the corresponding pyrazoles and pyridines was observed, mediated by 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran in air. The reaction showed excellent reactivity, functional group tolerance, and high yield without using any metal and/or halogen based oxidizing agents.     

Synthesis of multi-functional alkenes via Wittig reaction with a new-type of phosphorus ylides

A Bu₃P-mediated mild and efficient synthesis of multi-functional alkenes has been described starting from substituted acrylate with aldehydes. In situ generated zwitterionic intermediates underwent proton-exchange to afford ylide intermediates, which were trapped by corresponding aldehydes providing the products in up to 92% yield with complete E-stereoselectivity. Further derivatization of the products was performed to furnish functional pyridazinones.     

Unique copper–salen complex: an efficient catalyst for N-arylations of anilines and imidazoles at room temperature

We have reported here the catalytic activity of a unique Cu–salen type complex in N-arylation of anilines with arylboronic acids in water. The protocol is found to be applicable for a wide range of electronically diversified arylboronic acids and anilines with excellent yields of the isolated product. Further the scope of this protocol has been extended to the synthesis of various N-aryl imidazoles in iso-propanol.
