The EXAFS region of vanadium K-edge XAS spectra of native vanadate-dependent bromoperoxidase (isoenzyme I) from Ascophyllum nodosum in the presence of the substrate bromide can be fitted to three shells (at 1.62, 1.73-1.78 and 1.99-2.07 A) in the first coordination sphere of vanadium plus two more distant shells at 4.1A, possibly corresponding to bromide, and 4.7 A due to light scatterers stemming from the protein pocket. Bromide does not directly bind to the vanadium centre. The XANES and the EXAFS features for the enzyme are essentially reproduced by model complexes of the general composition [VO(H(2)O)(n)(ONO)] (n= 1 or 2) where ONO is the dianion of a Schiff base from bromosalicylaldehydes (Brsal; with the Br substituent in the position 3, 4, 5 or 6) and amino acids. The 3-Brsal derivatives exhibit an outer sphere shell at 3.8 A, which is traced back to intermolecular contacts. The data obtained from EXAFS are compared to those obtained from single crystal X-ray diffraction of [VO(H(2)O)(2)(4-Brsal-gly)] and [VO(H(2)O)(2)(6-Brsal-gly)] (gly = glycinate). In the complex [VOBr(2)(ONO)']] ((ONO)' is the Schiff base from o-anisole and o-hydroxyaniline), the V-Br distance is 2.44 A. 相似文献

Cross sections for quasifree Compton scattering from the deuteron were measured for incident energies of E(gamma) = 236-260 MeV at the laboratory angle straight theta(gamma(')) = -135 degrees. The recoil nucleons were detected in a liquid-scintillator array situated at straight theta(N) = 20 degrees. The measured differential cross sections were used, with the calculations of Levchuk et al., to determine the polarizabilities of the bound nucleons. For the bound proton, the extracted values were consistent with the accepted value for the free proton. Combining our results for the bound neutron with those from Rose et al., we obtain 1-sigma constraints of alpha;(n) = 7.6-14.0 and beta;(n) = 1.2-7.6. 相似文献

The basic concepts of electrochemistry at the solid-electrolyte interface are discussed in this article with special emphasis on surface physical aspects. The electrochemical environment is shown to provide several unique experimental possibilities for the study of metal and semiconductor surfaces. Chemisorption processes, which are associated with charge transfer across the interface, can be studied with great accuracy, even when only submonolayer amounts are adsorbed. Semiconductor electrodes have recently received increasing attention and their fundamental properties, as well as selected experimental results, are described here. The optical reflectance of metal electrodes measures sensitively overlayers and the electric charge on the surface, both of which can easily be controlled by the voltage applied to the electrochemical cell. The final topic is photo-emission, which is usually associated with ultra high vacuum conditions but which, when studied at a metal-electrolyte contact, can be used to obtain complementary information, particularly at low excitation energies. 相似文献
