Electrons with virtually no kinetic energy (close to 0 eV) trigger the decomposition of cytotoxic cyclobutane‐pyrimidine dimer (CPD) into a surprisingly large variety of fragment ions plus their neutral counterparts. The response of CPD to low energy electrons is thus comparable to that of explosives like trinitrotoluene (TNT). The dominant unimolecular reaction is the splitting into two thymine like units, which can be considered as the essential molecular step in the photolyase of CPD. We find that CPD is significantly more sensitive towards low energy electrons than its thymine building blocks. It is proposed that electron attachment at very low energy proceeds via dipole bound states, supported by the large dipole moment of the molecule (6.2 D). These states act as effective doorways to dissociative electron attachment (DEA).  相似文献

The title compound, C10H12FN5O4·H2O, shows an anti glycosyl orientation [χ = −123.1 (2)°]. The 2‐deoxy‐2‐fluoroarabinofuranosyl moiety exhibits a major C2′‐endo sugar puckering (S‐type, C2′‐endo–C1′‐exo, 2T1), with P = 156.9 (2)° and τm = 36.8 (1)°, while in solution a predominantly N conformation of the sugar moiety is observed. The conformation around the exocyclic C4′—C5′ bond is −sc (trans, gauche), with γ = −78.3 (2)°. Both nucleoside and solvent molecules participate in the formation of a three‐dimensional hydrogen‐bonding pattern via intermolecular N—H...O and O—H...O hydrogen bonds; the N atoms of the heterocyclic moiety and the F substituent do not take part in hydrogen bonding.  相似文献

We discuss the non-perturbative renormalization group evolution of the gauge coupling constant by using a truncated form of the functional flow equation for the effective average action of the Yang–Mills-gravity system. Our result is consistent with the conjecture that quantum Einstein gravity (QEG) is asymptotically safe and has a vanishing gauge coupling constant at the non-trivial fixed point.  相似文献

Coherent interactions between spins in quantum dots are a key requirement for quantum gates. We have performed pump-probe experiments in which pulsed lasers emitting at different photon energies manipulate two distinct subsets of electron spins within an inhomogeneous InGaAs quantum dot ensemble. The spin dynamics are monitored through their precession about an external magnetic field. These measurements demonstrate spin precession phase shifts and modulations of the magnitude of one subset of oriented spins after optical orientation of the second subset. The observations are consistent with results from a model using a Heisenberg-like interaction with μeV strength.  相似文献

With the growing demand for microoptics in different areas the importance of the characterization increases. Methods for a fast defect detection in microlens arrays are developed. We present a technique where the confocal principle is applied for determining the variation and the absolute value of the focal length. Additionally, using a self–filtering method the deviation of the periodic structure of microlens arrays is investigated theoretically and experimentally. Point-like defects as well as aberrations have been detected. The introduced methods allow the fast, parallel characterization of microlens arrays.  相似文献

We have performed single dot photoluminescence and time-resolved ensemble photoluminescence measurements on InAs quantum dots embedded in a lateral in-plane p–i–n or n–i–n device, respectively, which makes the application of lateral electric fields, i.e. field direction perpendicular to the growth direction, feasible. Time-resolved measurements show an increase in the radiative lifetime of up to 30% with increasing field. We attribute this to the reduced overlap between the electron and hole wave functions. Single dot spectroscopy revealed a small red-shift of the emission energies of maximum 0.5 meV. This shift can be explained by the quantum confined Stark effect taking into account that the red-shift due to the band-tilting is partly compensated by a decrease in exciton binding energy.  相似文献
