Rose Bengal, an anionic photosensitizer was conjugated to organically modified silica nanoparticles having 3-amino propyl groups by electrostatic or covalent interaction. The drug-nanoparticle complexes were characterized by FTIR, light scattering and zeta potential measurements. Significant changes were observed in the spectroscopic properties of the drug when it is conjugated with nanoparticles. The toxicity of the free drug and drug-nanoparticle complex was studied against oral (4451) and breast (MCF-7) cancer cell lines. Both complexes with nanoparticles were more phototoxic than free Rose Bengal, with the covalent complex being the more effective. Studies carried out on cellular uptake, photostability and singlet oxygen generation suggest that enhanced phototoxicity is primarily due to the enhanced uptake of the drug-nanoparticle complex.  相似文献

The use of cavity length control to obtain multiline emission from a hybrid CO2 laser has been investigated. We have obtained simultaneous laser oscillation on up to four lines in the P and R branches of the 10 m band by operating the c.w. section above the lasing threshold. For sub-threshold operation of the c.w. section the hybrid laser emission is restricted to the stronger 10P lines.  相似文献

Batch sorption experiments performed on Cr(VI) species sorption showed a significantly enhanced removal of inorganic hexavalent chromium anionic species from aqueous solution by montmorillonite clays modified with quaternary amine, hexadecyltrimethylammonium (HDTMA) bromide. Unmodified clay had no affinity for chromium(VI) species. The sorption of Cr(VI) species has been carried out as a function of pH, contact time, adsorbate concentration (4.14x10(-5) to 8.62x10(-3) M), and temperature (5-45 degrees C). The surfactant-modified clay surface was stable when exposed to extremes in pH. The optimum pH for maximum sorption of Cr(VI) species was found to be at pH 1 and was constant between pH 2 and pH 6. The sorption data obtained was well described by DKR and Langmuir sorption isotherms. Sorption energy (E) for (i) surfactant sorption by montmorillonite clay and (ii) sorption of chromium(VI) species by surfactant modified clay have been computed from the DKR equation. Sorption energy evaluated for the sorption of both surfactant and Cr(VI) species showed that an ion-exchange mechanism was operative. The mechanism of retention appears to be replacement of counterion of the surfactant by Cr(VI) anionic species. Adsorbent capacity for the sorption of Cr(VI) species has been evaluated from the Langmuir sorption isotherm data. Thermodynamic parameters (Delta H degrees, Delta S degrees and Delta G degrees ) for surfactant sorption on montmorillonite clay and Cr(VI) sorption by modified clay have been evaluated. The specific rate constant for sorption of Cr(VI) species on modified montmorillonite was rapid during the first 10 min and equilibrium was found to be attained within 30 min. The water-soluble complexes of Ti(IV) with citrate are of interest in environmental, biological, and materials chemistry. The aqueous solution speciation is revealed by spectropotentiometric titration. From pH 3-8, given at least three equivalents of ligand, 3:1 citrate/titanium complexes predominate in solution with successive deprotonation of dangling carboxylates as the pH increases. In this range and under these conditions, hydroxo- or oxo-metal species are not supported by the data. At ligand/metal ratios between 1:1 and 3:1, the data are difficult to fit, and are consistent with the formation of such hydroxo- or oxo- species. Stability constants for observed species are tabulated, featuring log beta-values of 9.18 for the 1:1 complex [Ti(Hcit)](+), and 16.99, 20.41, 16.11, and 4.07 for the 3:1 complexes [Ti(H(2)cit)(3)](2-), [Ti(H(2)cit)(Hcit)(2)](4-), [Ti(Hcit)(2)(cit)](6-), and [Ti(cit)(3)](8-), respectively (citric acid = H(4)cit). Optical spectra for the species are reported. The complexes exhibit similar yet distinct spectra, featuring putative citrate-to-Ti(IV) charge-transfer absorptions (lambda(max) approximately 250-310 nm with epsilon approximately 5000-7000 M(-)(1) cm(-1)). The prevailing 3:1 citrate/titanium ratio in solution is supported by electrospray mass spectrometry data. The X-ray crystal structure of a fully deprotonated tris-citrate complex Na(8)[Ti(C(6)H(4)O(7))(3)].17H(2)O (1) (or Na(8)[Ti(cit)(3)].17H(2)O) that crystallizes from aqueous solution at pH 7-8 is reported. Absorption and emission properties of the amphiphilic photosensitizer Chlorin p 6 were investigated in aqueous medium in the presence of silica nanoparticles (SiNPs) having positively charged amino groups. The results of these studies reveal that the acid–base ionization equilibrium of Chlorin p 6 in aqueous medium is significantly affected as a result of strong electrostatic binding between the negatively charged drug and SiNP. The spectroscopic signature of the drug bound to SiNPs suggests that the tri-anionic form of the drug remains bound to the positively charged SiNPs at pH 8.0. As the pH is progressively decreased the formation of hydrophobic aggregates is disrupted significantly due to the presence of electrostatic binding force, which competes with intermolecular hydrophobic forces. The interplay of hydrophobic and electrostatic forces in the drug–nanoparticle binding process might affect the relative uptake and photodynamic efficacy of the free drug and the drug–nanoparticle complex in cancer cells.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In this work, we have recorded the Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Ultra-Violet Visible (UV–Vis) spectra of 3,3,6,6-Tetramethyl-9-(4-Methoxyphenyl)3,4,6,7,9,10 hexahydroacridine-1,8-dione (C24H29NO3) in the spectral range 4000–400?cm?1 and 190–1400?nm, respectively. The thermo gravimetric (TG) analysis of the compound has been performed to check the thermal stability of the compound. The molecular geometry and complete vibrational spectra in the ground state are calculated by Hartree Fock (HF) and Density Functional Theory (DFT) using6-311G(d,p) basis set. The calculated vibrational harmonic frequencies are scaled using a proper scale factor, yielding a good agreement with the experimental data. Stability of the molecule arising from hyperconjugative interactions, charge delocalisation has been studied using natural bond orbital analysis (NBO). Mulliken charges, MEP mapping and temperature dependence on the thermodynamic properties in the optimised ground state have been calculated. UV–Visible spectrum of the molecule was calculated by using TD-DFT approach and the results were compared with the experimental one. We have calculated the several molecular parameters like ionisation potential, electron affinity, global hardness, electron chemical potential, electronegativity and global electrophilicity based on HOMO and LUMO energy values calculated at B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) level of theory. The calculated optimised structural parameters and vibrational wavenumbers are found to be in good agreement with the experimental results.  相似文献
