Highly Enantioselective Phenylacetylene Addition to Benzaldehyde Catalyzed by Chiral Tridentate Ligand

Development of new or improved methods for the asymmetric preparation of chiral propargylic alcohols has gained considerable significance during the past years because they are useful building blocks for the synthesis of many biologically active compounds and natural products.[1] A series of chiral tridentate ligands were conveniently synthesized from amino acids with good yields (Scheme 1).[2] A preliminary study of the enantioselective alkynylation of benzaldehyde catalyzed by this chiral tridentate ligand was carried out and up to 83% ee of chiral propargyl alcohols was obtained (Table 1 ). A further investigation of the tridentate ligand is currently underway.     

Molecular structures of β-amino-α-bromovinyl trifluoromethyl ketones

The molecular structures of β-amino-α-bromovinyl trifluoromethyl ketones was studied by UV, IR, ¹H, ¹³C, and ¹⁵N NMR spectroscopy and using the density functional (B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) and PBE/QZ3P) and ab initio riMP2/cc-pVTZm quantum-chemical calculations. Factors affecting stabilization of the EZE-conformation of the molecules, which is atypical of analogous unsubstituted amino enones, are considered.__________Published in Russian in Izvestiya Akademii Nauk. 强激光装置中玻璃疵病在线检测的光学系统设计

介绍了一种用于玻璃疵病在线检测的近摄工作距成像光学系统,其光组结构形式采用了光阑后置的准远心结构形式,主要光学参量为f′=14 mm;在物像距为250 mm约束条件下,物方视场达到90 mm（对角线）;F/number=3.56;光谱适应范围为400~800 nm,对应的空间分辨率为100 lp/mm时,调制传递函数大于0.29.     

荞麦花多糖的提取及含量测定

采用热水提取、乙醇沉淀的方法从荞麦花中提取出了水溶性多糖,采用硫酸-苯酚法在波长为497nm处进行了糖含量的测定,求得其校准曲线的回归方程为y=0.00508x 0.0294,相关系数为r=0.9978.平均回收率为99%-103%,RSD为0.74%.结果显示:荞麦花多糖的产率为2.5%.糖含量为41.63%.     

The rapid uncertainty prediction of the ocean-acoustic coupled model

Focusing on the rapid prediction of acoustic field uncertainty in environment with temporal and spatial sound speed perturbation, evolvement of sound speed structure over time is predicted based on the ocean-acoustic coupled model to obtain the uncertainty distribution of the vertical structure of sound speed. Further, a method combining the arbitrary polynomial chaos expansion with the empirical orthogonal function is proposed to reduce the dimensionality of uncertain parameters and to obtain the uncertainty distribution of the acoustic field. Simulations have shown that the computational complexity can be reduced by 2 orders of magnitude compared to the conventional polynomial chaos expansion while ensures the same precision.Moreover, the computational complexity is not influenced by the complexity of the sound speed profile. The acoustic field and uncertainty predicted in uncertain environment by proposed method also have been tested with the experimental data.     

A closeness estimate for probability distribution and its zero bias transformation

A new concise and transparent proof for the optimal estimate concerning the mean metric distance between a probability distribution and its zero bias transformation is given.     

Elimination of Acetate Production to Improve Ethanol Yield During Continuous Synthesis Gas Fermentation by Engineered Biocatalyst Clostridium sp. MTEtOH550

Acetogen strain Clostridum sp. MT653 produced acetate 273?mM (p?<?0.005) and ethanol 250?mM (p?<?0.005) from synthesis gas blend mixture of 64?% CO and 36?%?H₂. Clostridum sp. MT653 was metabolically engineered to the biocatalyst strain Clostridium sp. MTEtOH550. The biocatalyst increased ethanol yield to 590?mM with no acetate production during single-stage continuous syngas fermentation due to expression of synthetic adh cloned in a multi-copy number expression vector. The acetate production was eliminated by inactivation of the pta gene in Clostridium sp. MTEtOH550. Gene introduction and gene elimination were achieved only using Syngas Biofuels Energy, Inc. electroporation generator. The electrotransformation efficiencies were 8.0?±?0.2?×?10⁶ per microgram of transforming DNA of the expression vector at cell viability ~15?%. The frequency of suicidal vector integration to inactivate pta was ~10^?5 per the number of recipient cells. This is the first report on elimination of acetate production and overexpression of synthetic adh gene to engineer acetogen biocatalyst for selective biofuel ethanol production during continuous syngas fermentation.     

Inelastic diffraction at the LHC

The relativistic scattering was one of the scientific fields where Academician V.G. Kadyshevsky has made an important and highly cited contribution [1]. In this paper we discuss the high-energy dependencies of diffractive and non-diffractive inelastic cross-sections in view of the recent LHC data which reveal a presence of the reflective scattering mode.
