The informal (and/or illegal) e‐commerce of pharmaceutical formulations causes problems that governmental health agencies find hard to control, one of which concerns formulas sold as natural products. The purpose of this work was to explore the advantages and limitations of DOSY and HPLC–UV–SPE–NMR. These techniques were used to identify the components of a formula illegally marketed in Brazil as an herbal medicine possessing anti‐inflammatory and analgesic properties. DOSY was able to detect the major components present at higher concentrations. Complete characterization was achieved using HPLC–UV–SPE–NMR, and 1D and 2D NMR analyses enabled the identification of known synthetic drugs. These were ranitidine and a mixture of orphenadrine citrate, piroxicam, and dexamethasone, which are co‐formulated in a remedy called Rheumazim that is used to relieve severe pain, but it is prohibited in Brazil because of a lack of sufficient pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic information. This study investigated the organic and inorganic constituents of healthy leaves and Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (CLas)-inoculated leaves of citrus plants. The bacteria CLas are one of the causal agents of citrus greening (or Huanglongbing) and its effect on citrus leaves was investigated using laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) combined with chemometrics. The information obtained from the LIBS spectra profiles with chemometrics analysis was promising for the construction of predictive models to identify healthy and infected plants. The major, macro- and microconstituents were relevant for differentiation of the sample conditions. The models were then applied to different inoculation times (from 1 to 8 months). The models were effective in the classification of 82-97% of the diseased samples with a 95% significance level. The novelty of this method was in the fingerprinting of healthy and diseased plants based on their organic and inorganic contents. 相似文献

The screening of commercial nickel catalysts for methanation and a series of nickel catalysts supported on CeO2, γ-Al2O3, and ZrO2 in the reaction of selective CO methanation in the presence of CO2 in hydrogen-containing mixtures (1.5 vol % CO, 20 vol % CO2, 10 vol % H2O, and the balance H2) was performed at the flow rate WHSV = 26000 cm3 (g Cat)−1 h−1. It was found that commercial catalytic systems like NKM-2A and NKM-4A (NIAP-07-02) were insufficiently effective for the
selective removal of CO to a level of <100 ppm. The most promising catalyst is 2 wt % Ni/CeO2. This catalyst decreased the concentration of CO from 1.5 vol % to 100 ppm in the presence of 20 vol % CO2 in the temperature range of 280–360°C at a selectivity of >40%, and it retained its activity even after contact with air.
The minimum outlet CO concentration of 10 ppm at 80% selectivity on a 2 wt % Ni/CeO2 catalyst was reached at a temperature of 300°C. 相似文献

Organic compounds in atmospheric nanoparticles have an effect on human health and the climate. The determination of these particles is challenged by the difficulty of sampling, the complexity of sample composition, and the trace-level concentrations of the compounds. Meeting the challenge requires the development of sophisticated sampling systems for size-resolved particles and the optimization of sensitive, accurate and simple analytical techniques and methods. A new sampling system is proposed where particles are charged with a bipolar charger and size-segregated with a differential mobility analyzer. This system was successfully used to sample particles from wood pyrolysis with particle sizes 30–100 nm. Particles were analyzed by four techniques: comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography–time-of-flight mass spectrometry, gas chromatography–time-of-flight mass spectrometry, gas chromatography–quadrupole mass spectrometry, and aerosol mass spectrometry (aerosol MS). In the chromatographic techniques, particles were collected on a filter and analyzed off-line after sample preparation, whereas in the aerosol MS, particle analysis was performed directly from the particle source. Target compounds of the samples were polyaromatic hydrocarbons and n-alkanes. The analytical techniques were compared and their advantages and disadvantages were evaluated. Collision‐induced dissociation experiments of seven annonaceous acetogenins were carried out under high and low collision energy conditions. Each compound was studied as protonated or deprotonated and lithium‐ or sodium‐ cationized molecules, using ElectroSpray Ionisation (ESI) with a hybrid linear trap/orbitrap mass spectrometer (LTQ‐Orbitrap®). The same ion species were studied with a Matrix‐Assisted Laser Desorption Ionisation (MALDI) tandem mass spectrometer in a high collision energy regime (1 or 2 keV). Although each of the techniques showed some limitations in the detection of functional groups, unambiguous structural identification of the acetogenins was obtained. MALDI ToF‐ToF has the advantage over ESI‐based methods to provide mass spectra rich in informative fragments which allows the confirmation of some functional groups position. By contrast, ESI‐LTQ‐Orbitrap® analysis has the advantage over MALDI that the mass spectra are relatively simple with only fragments close to the functional groups. The rise of antibiotic-resistant bacteria has directed substantial attention toward the use of bacteriophages as a means to control bacterial populations. It has been proposed that bacteriophages can be applied as a coating on surfaces in healthcare settings or on indwelling medical devices to create an antimicrobial surface. In this study, antimicrobial model surfaces functionalized with five different types of bacteriophage were prepared and characterized with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy. The bacterial capture efficiency of these functionalized surfaces was studied for two common bacteria, Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium. Binding of the phages to a solid surface affected their biofunctionality as expressed by the capture efficiency and rate of host membrane disruption. Moreover, the size and shape of the bacteriophage and positioning of its specific binding proteins significantly affected its bacterial capture capability in the immobilized state. Symmetric bacteriophages were found to be a better choice for antibacterial surfaces compared to more asymmetric tailed bacteriophages. Immobilized phages were found to disrupt the membranes of attached bacteria and are thus proposed as a candidate for antimicrobial surfaces. 相似文献

The diffusion of charged polymers into the pores of cellulose fibers has not yet been fully understood due to the complexity of the interaction between polymers and fibers. In this paper, the diffusion of cationic-modified poly(vinyl alcohol) (CPVA) with tailored charge densities and a relatively high molecular weight into the pores of bleached aspen high-yield pulp (via a chemi-thermomechanical pulping process) was quantitatively investigated via an adsorption analysis, charge density analysis, and solute exclusion technique (SET). The results showed that the adsorption of the low-charged CPVA was substantially higher than that of the high-charged CPVA on fibers. The surface charge density analysis confirmed that approximately 17 mg/g of the high-charged CPVA adsorbed on the outer surface and on the macropores of fibers and the remaining (23 mg/g) diffused into the pores. The SET analysis confirmed that the pore size of fibers was more significantly reduced by applying the low-charged CPVA than the high-charged one. The influencing factors for the diffusion of CPVA into the large and small pores were related to the repulsion force developed between the adsorbed polymers and approaching polymers, entropy increase, and the polymer flexibility. The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area analysis showed an increase in the surface area of fibers upon CPVA adsorption. It was proposed that the diffused CPVA prevented complete fiber pore collapse during drying, which eventually increased the surface area of fibers. 相似文献
